The Good Guys embarked on a nine day midwest road trip. After sweepiing three games in Pittsburgh, they lost two of three in Chicago, and lost three straight in St Louis. They returned home on a Thursday night to open a weekend series with the San Francisco Giants, which would begin a nine game homestand.
In the meantime, during the first game with the Giants, a win by Kate Hudson, 4 to 1, a mysterious fan was drawing attention to himself behind home plate. He was writing notes on the game, yet didnt look like an advanced scout for any of the upcoming teams. The team, and Sniderman, decided to keep an eye on him. The strange man was there again on Saturday night, a 3-0 whitewashing by Gil Bellows. The gentleman with the clipboard was present again on Sunday afternoon, when the Good Guys completed the sweep of the Giants with a 2-1 win by Charlize Theron. Things were off to a good start, and the team needed it, after all it's troubles.
Monday was an off day. The team spent it relaxing, with Mitch and Naomi, as they usually did on home off days, spending it in bed, eating, making love, and at the casino. Afternoons were a good time for the couple, especially off days, with no family around, and no commitments.
San Diego came to town on Tuesday night. Neve Campbell got the ball, and pitched okay, but was defeated 4 to 3. Hudson went back to the mound for a Wednesday Matinee, and was magnificent, striking out 13, and shutting out the Padres until the ninth, until the bullpen escaped a bases loaded situation, in a 4-0 win. Gil Bellows pitched on Thursday night, and he, too, did very well, allowing but 2 runs until the 8th, as Mitch hit a big homerun, in a 5-2 Good Guy triumph.
The Dodgers invaded Paradise for the weekend. After a Charlize Theron win on Friday night, the fifth starter took a hammering on Saturday night. Sniderman, wanting to end the homestand on a high note, sent Kate Hudson to the mound on 3 days rest on Sunday to try and cap the homestand on a high note. Kate was on a 90 pitch or 7 inning limit that day, so she had to be economical with her pitches. She was, getting a 5-0 lead by the second, and throwing sinkers due to being tired, instead of trying to strike everyone out. She ended up pitching six shutout innings, allowing three hits, and struck out only five, then turned it over to the pen, who came away with a 6-3 Good Guy win, to cap a seven and two, fine homestand,. Things went very well on that homestand, after the rough one the time before. It was possible that the team was starting to settle in, or was that so?
