The Good Guys embarked on a road trip to New York, Atlanta, and Houston. They won two of three from the Mets, then lost two of three to the Braves, and then won two of three again from the Astros. They returned home on a Sunday night to begin a nine game homestand against the teams from the midwest.
On Monday, an off day, members of the team consulted with independent legal counsel, to seek advice, about how to proceed, in light of the ultimatum, from Alan, and the Commissioner, that the Good Guys cease and desist from all fetish activities. In fact, according to the attorney, since the Good Guys fetish parties did not involve their on field time, or affect their play on the field, the attorney told them that how they led their personal lives, should not result in penalty, in any way, from either the comissioner, or their owner. They were not involved in illegal activities, or corrupting minors in any way, and, therefore, the sanctions taken against them represented an infringement of their civil rights. Moreover, when the team had reunited a few years earlier after the year hiatus, a poll had been taken where the majority of fans approved of the Good Guys activities. Letters were sent from the attorney to both Alan and the Commissioner that the latter two parties were to immediately drop their sanctions, or a suit would be filed against both parties for civil rights. Alan and the Commissioner refused immediately, and, on that Tuesday, before the Good Guys took the field against Pittsburgh, a lawsuit was filed by their attorney against both Commissioner Selig and Alan for civil rights. Further, in case Alan attempted to hold the team's paychecks from them as a tactic, the lawyer requested that Alan be required to place all further salaries for the rest of the season in escrow, for either his attorney or the Good Guys attorney to release to the players in a timely fashion. It was all out war, and it would be sure to be a long battle.
That night, the Good Guys took the field against Pittsburgh, to a standing ovation, before a near sellout. When Alan was seen in his box, he was roundly booed. Kate Hudson started the game, and pitched a shutout, in a 3-0 win. Clearly, the fans were behind the players with the freedom of choice issue, as it had been this way for years. To the fans, the Good Guys success on the field was the one thing that mattered. The other activities were merely their personal business, and many didnt feel Alan or Selig had a right to infringe. The success continued the next night, as Gil Bellows pitched eight shutout innings, in a 2-0 win. Charlize Theron went to the hill on Thursday night, and continued the good roll. She pitched into the eighth inning, in a 4-1 Paradise triumph to complete the sweep.
The Cubs came to town on Friday night. Back to back excellent games by Kerry Wood and Mark Prior on Friday and Saturday nights handed the Good Guys two straight setbacks in a row, 2-1, and 1-0. Kate Hudson went to the mound for a 1pm Sunday game before a sellout on a clear day. She picked the team up, firing one run ball into the ninth, in a 3-1 Good Guy victory.
St Louis would invade Paradise to close the homestand. After Gil Bellows got battered on Monday night, Charlize Theron took the ball on Tuesday, and pitched seven strong innings, before giving way to Naomi and Bynes. Mitch's homer in the eighth sealed a 5-2 Paradise win. Neve Campbell would finish the homestand on a 90 degree cloudless day on Wednesday afternoon before a matinee sellout. The Good Guys hoped for a good game, and got one, as Neve pitched into the seventh, got help from her bullpen, as Mitch hit another homer, and Bynes got a save, in a 6-3 Good Guy victory that completed a tough six and three homestand. It had been trying both on field, and off with the beginning of the legal case. However, the Good Guys managed to keep themselves distracted by playing fine ball, and entertaining their fans, which was the solace during the troubled times.
Trying to maintain as normal lives as possible, the team held a Saturday night tickle party following the loss to the Cubs. As she was one of the "culprits" in the two straight setbacks for the Good Guys, Neve Campbell was the featured lee. Her former castmates and teammates Scott Wolf, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Matthew Fox paid a visit to aid in the tickling of Neve, who was tied hands and feet to a table in the middle of the fetish club. Jennifer began the tickle on Neve's neck with fingers as the latter began to squeal and writhe:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! NO LOVE! NO! HEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Finally, Mitch finished the tickle by attacked Neve's feet with fingers, ice and feathers. Neve wiggled her toes every which way, and squealed uncontrollably, begging for mercy! HEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! PLEASE NO MORE! I GIVE UP! NO NO NO! HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! With that, the tickling stopped, and the exhausted and panting Neve was untied.
