EDIT: I don't know. I think I see an animal that might look like a dog, but it's hard to say.

The horse's head is one eye and Alexander's head is the other. The bent elbow is a nose and the rest is just mixed in profile. The top part above the heads I thought was ears.

I think you may be right. Does it have a ghostlike outline/apperance to the left of Alexander?

Of course there's a dog. Alexander is actually mounted on one of the legendary Macedonian Spaniels which were once the terror of the ancient world.
