Fellow tickler MTP Jeff got his system and I congratulate him. That system is hard to get. I told a story on his thread and I thought it may be interesting to see what you would do in this situation. I work with a guy who is struggling to make it. He reserved his X-BOX360 in advance and the day it arrived he went to the store to pick it up. The store had just opened and the lines were incredabley long from people trying to get one. By the time he left the store they were all sold out. He and his 9 year old son, he bought it for, were walking to his car and a man approached them and offered him $1000.00 for the system. My friend said sarcastically $2000.00. Eventually they agreed and he sold it for $1700.00. now he had to explain to his 9 year old son standing there crying, why he sold his Christmas present. His response was we can always get one later. My question to you is, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN THAT EXACT SITUATION? :idunno:

I would talk it over with my kid. He would be in on the deal. I would say, "Ya know, if we sell it right now for 1700, we'll have enough money to go get another one and a lot more games. Think about it... What do you want do?" I'd leave it up to the kid and if he didn't go for it, I would nonchalantly tease him all the way home about how he blew a really good deal and how he let all of those games slip through his fingers. I would bring up every few years too just to see him sit there and shake his head in disgust. :happyfloa

I would absolutely have sold mine. If I had gotten it when they first came out, when they were still red hot on ebay, I would have sold the one I have and just waited until next year to get one.

Would you have still sold it to the person in front of your kid like he did and explain why you did it?

Well, I dont have any kids so I cant be sure, but I think I probably would have explained as best I could and then asked my kid what he wanted to do.

Id probaly sell it for 2grand and get at least a 27 inch hdtv ready flat screen and still have enough money for the xbox 360 and a game.

O.K. I would sell it too, but the question is. If you just purchased it for your son and you two were going home with it and you were approached by someone who offered you the $1,700.00, would you still sell it RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR SON, if you had one, and risk breaking his heart. That is what my co-worker did. I would like to know if you would do the same. :idunno:

First, let me say that I have no children, so I have no idea what it's like to be a father, and I would never tell other parents how to raise their own kids, unless they were being abused. I respect everyone's opinion here, and I understand why your friend/co-worker sold it. However, I have to disagree with his decision. Yes, he'll be able to get another Xbox 360 and more with the money he made from the deal. I'm sure he sold it because he loves his son, and that his son will forgive him eventually. But the bottom line is that he bought it for his son and no one else, even though he has the right to sell it to another person. Also, how long will his son have to wait for another system? I know some of you will say the wait is worth it. I just happen to think differently. I don't know, maybe I'm too sensitive or something. :p
