The Good Guys embarked on a nine game road trip. After winning two of three in New York, they lost two of three in Atlanta, and won two of three again in Houston. They returned home on a Sunday night to begin a nine game homestand, against the middle America teams.
When Mitch returned home on that Sunday night, Naomi was still having chilly feelings for him, with one notable difference. Mitch had finally agreed to submit himself for therapy, to deal with his mid life crisis and depression. Due to this, Naomi tried dilligently to soften her tough as nails stance for him. She was having her own problems, as, in recent months, due to issues with her own career, and family, her twenty year friendship with her best friend Nicole Kidman, was drifting further and further apart. Recently, the two best friends had been waging a cold war, over the fact that their lives were going in seperate directions. Nicole's career had stalled, and she was alone, while Naomi had her husband of twenty years, and her three kids. Mitch tried to put his own feelings aside, and broach the subject with Naomi, but she erupted at him, calling him "insensitive". "What the fuck do you know about losing a best friend, husband? You see your best friend every day, he plays the infield for our team, and lives six miles from you, in a lovely apartment. You always socialize with him, at home, and on the road, and he is a major part of your life!" All of what Naomi said was true, Mitch's best friend, Russell, was the Good Guys second baseman, and he lived but a few miles from the couple, in another highrise apartment on the island. Although there had been times in his life, when both had lived in the U.S., that the two best friends had lived two, to even four, hours from each other, such was not the case since both joined the Good Guys. They were closer then ever, a fact Naomi knew, and perhaps now envied, with her best friend slipping away from her life.
In the meantime, while all this tension existed, the Good Guys opened the homestand on that Monday night against Pittsburgh. Kate Hudson started, and she pitched well, firing blanks into the ninth inning, in a 2-0 win. Gil Bellows pitched the next night, and he was almost as good, allowing but one run over eight innings, striking out ten, as Duff finished for him, and the Good Guys prevailed, 3-1. Charlize Theron took the ball on Wednesday night, and she was instrumental in completing the sweep, pitching into the eighth, as Bynes finished, a 4-2 triumph.
Thursday was an off day. Mitch and Naomi were still fighting tensions, yet, did manage to make love, and a trip to the casino for lunch with the team.
Chicago came to town on Friday night. Neve Campbell took the ball, and she did very well, allowing three runs, but getting enough support, with four homers, in a 6-3 win. The fifth starter went to the mound on Saturday, and pitched decently, but two errors did him in, and the team succumbed, 4-3. Kate Hudson took the ball on Sunday afternoon. It was a very changable day. Skies started sunny, and then, after a thunderstorm in the third, that delayed play for an hour, the teams went back on to the field. The game was tied 3-3 when Kate left in the eighth, and wasn't decided until the eleventh, when Mitch hit a homerun to end it.
The Cardinals invaded Paradise on Monday. After an opening game 3-2 loss by Gil Bellows, Charlize Theron pitched on Tuesday, and righted the ship, firing eight magnificent innings, striking out eleven, and then watching, as the bullpen finished off a 4-1 triumph. Good Guy Stadium had a near capacity crowd on Wednesday afternoon, for the final game of the series, and the homestand. Neve Campbell was on the hill, and did her job, allowing three runs on only four hits. Unfortunately, runs were hard to come by, and the best the Good Guys could do was get her a tie, when she left after six innings. Finally, in the eighth, third baseman Michael, cracked a Grand Slam Homerun, that would be the difference, as Duff did her thing in the ninth, to finish off a 7-4 Good Guy triumph, that capped a fine seven and two homestand. The team was playing well on the field, and off the field, Mitch was trying to deal with his issues with Naomi.
Throughout the homestand, Mitch had been going to individual counseling three times a week. While he was beginning to feel a bit better, it would take time. Naomi realized such, and wanted to work with him, in spite of their marital issues, and her own personal problems. On Wednesday night, before he left, the couple had a heart to heart talk, and tried to settle some things, proclaiming their love for each other. As he packed for another road trip, Mitch hoped that they had taken steps in the right direction.
In the meantime, the team held it's Saturday night tickle party. The featured lee would be a pretty brunette reporter, Erin O Hearn, who had just joined the WPAR news team. The attractive brunette was tied hands and feet to the bed in bra and panties, in the middle of the fetish club. Second baseman Russell began the tickle on Erin's neck, as she moved her head from side to side, and the giggles began:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! NO! She wiggled her toes every which way, begging for mercy, and squealing with uncontrollable laughter:HEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! OMG PLEASE NO MORE! I CANT TAKE IT! IAM SOOO TICKLISH! NOOOOOOO!
