The Good Guys embarked on a trip to the West Coast. First, they played a tough series in San Fransisco, losing all three games, in either the ninth, or extra innings. They packed their bags for San Diego, but the warmer weather didnt help, as they lost three straight games there in the eighth inning, to run their losing streak to six. Finally, they went to LA, but things didnt get any better there as well, as they dropped three more to the fine Dodger pitching, to finish with a disasterous Zero Win, Nine Loss road trip, going from first place to third in ten days time. They returned home on a Sunday night to begin a nine game homestand.
When Mitch came through the door that night, he was tired, and a beaten man. Naomi was waiting for him, as always. "Horrid road trip. I know, babe, but you're home with me now, how can I help?" Naomi said, kissing him. "Just be there for me, oh, and let me make love to you, oh and your feet" Mitch replied. Charlize Theron took the mound on Wednesday night, and permitted just two runs into the seventh, combining with Naomi, Bynes and Duff, on a 4-2 win to complete the sweep.
Thursday was an off day. A slowly rejuvenating Good Guy ballclub spent the day at the casino, where Mitch and Naomi won $2000 at the horses, and tables.
The Phillies came to town on Friday night. Neve Campbell had good stuff that night, striking out ten in seven innings, to come away with an eventual 1-0 win. It looked like the string would be broken on Saturday night, with the fifth starter. However, this time, his team bailed him out. Trailing 5-0, the Good Guys got even in the sixth, scoring five runs. Tied 5-5 in the ninth, Mitch hit a game winning homer, for the Good Guys fifth straight win. Kate Hudson went to the mound on a beautiful 85 degree Sunday, in front of a standing room only crowd, of over 55,000, on a large promotion day. Kate didn't disappoint, striking out fifteen Phillies, and driving in a run, in a 2-0 whitewashing to complete a second straight sweep.
The Reds would finish the homestand. Gil Bellows pitched on Monday night. The teams had a quick turnaround on Wednesday, for a noontime camp day game, before heading off on another road trip. Neve Campbell stumbled a bit on that day, allowing five runs in five innings. It looked like the eight game winning streak was finally going to come to an end. It was not to be, as in the eighth, trailing 5-2, with two outs, a walk, and error, and a three run homer suddenly tied the game. After Hilary Duff gave up a go ahead homer in the ninth, the Good Guys went to the bottom half, three outs from a tough loss. an infield bloop hit, was followed by two outs, then, with a two strike count, and the team one strike from a loss, left fielder Dawson clobbered a dramatic two run monster blast into the left field bullpen, to end the homestand in heartstopping fashion, completing a 7-6 Good Guy triumph that finished off a nine game sweep of the homestand. The team that limped home ten days earlier following a disasterous road trip, was now going back on the road, as confident as ever, with a nine game winning streak. Things were looking up in the world of the Good Guys.
