There is a great Bret Hart interview up at the Slam! Wrestling website where he reveals his WrestleMania 22 plans.

Bret says that he will NOT be appearing at the WrestleMania 22 PPV event and says he knows Vince and WWE will try to convince him otherwise this weekend.

On being inducted into the Hall of Fame, he noted "I think a lot of it is a sign of good faith, I don't think either of us has ever really forgiven, but Vince and I have made peace to a certain extent."

Hart says he will be flying out of Chicago on Sunday morning, before the PPV.

Hart notes that WWE sent him a contract to appear and that he did not sign it and was not being paid to appear.

Hart also says that if he sees Shawn Michaels at the Hall of Fame ceremony he will walk out, get back into his cab, and head right back to where he came from. "I've basically told them that if I see Shawn, I'll get back in a cab and go straight to the airport. They'll have to get him to do my induction speech. I just feel that there's too much anger for me. Too combustible."

Hart also says that the Hall of Fame ceremony is simply a chance to say goodbye to the fans and give his wrestling career closure.

Maybe I'm wrong cuz I'm not totally up to speed on this, but why does Bret blame Shawn? If I remember correctly, it was ALL vince and Michaels didn't even realize what had happened until all was said and done? I don't think he was even aware he had won the belt but just carried along with it until it was all straightened out. So why does Bret dislike Shawn so much?? Was it really his fault?

I'm not really a huge fan of either, but I was just curious from what I've seen and heard about it.

I bought Mick Foley's book when it came out some years back when he first retired. It has something to do with Bret's contract being up and he had already signed with Ted Turner. McMahon was trying to get rid of the Atlanta Wrestling program and did not want Bret to take the WWF belt to the NWA and consolidate both world championships into one. Turners ratings would have skyrocketed and McMahon would pretty much been cancelled, business and all. Shane was just there in the ring doing what he was suppose to do. He was not the one scheduled to win that night and was truly surprised by the outcome.

Shawn's since acknowledged he was in on it, although I don't know why Bret seems to be willing to deal with Vince but not Shawn.

Shawn did know about it from the very beginning. They planned this a few days before the it occured. But that isn't the reason Bret doesn't like him. It's much deeper than that and he never liked Shawn. Those two have had problems for a while. As a matter of fact, the whole screw incident was created while Brisco was teaching Shawn how to block any real punches Bret threw at him during their match. They even feared for his safety after it happened and instructed him to leave the ring quickly so Bret wouldn't whip his ass. I don't know what exactly got them hating each other, I've heard it was the difference in their lifestyles back then, but they never liked each other.

One thing I never understood...

Supposedly the whole "Bret Hart screw job" thing was because Vince didn't want the belt showing up in another organization...in other words, he didn't want Bret wearing it elsewhere.

My question is...how is that even possible? Can't McMahaon just say "Hey Bret, you don't work for me anymore, give me my freakin' belt?" How the hell does it work, when you "win" a championship (i.e. when they decide to give you the belt), you carry it around with you everywhere you go? I always thought the WWE higher ups just held onto the belt and when you arrive for your matches that night, they hand it off to you. No??

Someone needs to explain how that works cuz it makes very little sense to me.

the wwe heavyweight belt that Kurt Angle has is Ric Flair`s belt FROM WCW.IT` also the belt from the NWA from the 80`s before Turner turned it to WCW

They carry that belt around with them until they lose it. When they win it it's in their possession and it's their responsibility.

He didnt want what happened with the wwf womens title. Madusa had the title and decided to make the jump to wcw, where she threw it in the trash on live tv at the announce booth. There was also a legal issue with ric flair in the early 90s when he jumped to wwf with the nwa\wcw title. They had it blurred out whenever he wanted to show it

If I remember correctly, the belt Ric Flair had was actually his own personal belt. Whenever he went to the WWF, it was still his belt to do whatever he wanted. He told them when leaving WCW that if they wanted to keep his belt they would have to buy it from him. He asked Vince what to do about the belt and Vince told him to just bring it with him when he came to WWF. (this is according to the Ric Flair collection on DVD). But yet Vince has a problem with other people taking belts to other shows.. hmmm.

Sean Michaels says in his book that he knew all about the Bret Hart screw job...he freely admits that he went along with Vince's plan. If you've seen that Bret Hart documentary, Hart asks Michaels backstage if he was in on it and Sean says something like 'as God is my witness, I knew nothing.' But he admits in the book that he was lying through his teeth. Claims he felt bad afterwards...take that with a grain of salt, I guess.

I always like both Hart and Michaels...as for why they never got along, who knows. Michaels says that Hart is kind of a 'brooder', and tough to get close to, which I can accept. One thing about Bret Hart is that guy never seems to smile. :) But he was always my favorite singles guy.

P.S. The Wrestlemania (8? 9?) when he lost to Yokozuna and then Hulk Hogan ran out and took the belt 2 seconds later was the epitomy of stupid and laziness.
