The Good Guys, with matters still not settled between Mitch and Naomi, embarked on their next road trip. After dropping two of three in New York, they also dropped two of three in Atlanta, and then won two of three in Houston. They returned home on a Sunday night, to begin a nine game homestand against the mid America teams.
During the road trip, the seperation was excruciating for Mitch. He called Naomi every night, and sent her flowers, telling her that no matter what happened, and if baseball, and even tickling and feet, were packed in, he still wanted her and only her. He reiterated his offer to leave the team, the island, the tickling chatroom, and everything, just to spend the rest of his life with Naomi Watts, making her happy. The Cubs came to town on Friday night. After back to back 1-0 losses to both Kerry Wood, and Mark Prior on Friday and Saturday, Kate Hudson took the mound on a sunny Sunday, in front of a sellout. Matched with Chicago's Greg Maddux, the game was a pitcher's duel. Kate pitched eight innings of one run, two hit ball. Tied 1-1 in the eighth, third baseman Michael hit a grand slam homer, in an eventual 5-2 victory.
St Louis entered Paradise for the final series of the homestand, before the Good Guys headed to the middle of the country. After a Gil Bellows 3-2 loss on Monday night, Charlize took a 4-2 win on Tuesday. Neve Campbell took the mound on a sunny Wednesday, in front of over 50,000. She got bashed, allowing five runs in five innings. It looked like a lost cause, until the Good Guys ralllied from a 5-0 deficit, to take the lead in the eighth. Duff then slammed the door, for a 6-5 Good Guy win, to complete a mediocre five and four homestand. The team didnt perform as well as usual on the field, and off of it, Mitch and Naomi had reached just about the breaking point. Logically, both knew it might be time to get out, say uncle, but their love for each other, and 20 years, overrode all of that. In love, feelings were unexplained. It still wasnt known if the couple could work through their issues, but both apparently cared enough, not to move out, and to try.
