The World Cup is just around the corner and was thinking (knowing their other soccer nuts like me here) who would have in your all star team. Any formation, any player and for a change maybe but a great and young 'up and coming' star in the team. Here's mine;
Formation: 4-4-2
Coach: Ottmar Hitzfeld (the old Bayern Munich coach - I like his hard approach)
Keeper: Dida
Defence: Maldini - Beckenbauer cpt - Zanetti - Simic
Mid: Ballack - Diesler - Beckham - Lampard
Strikers: Podolski - Ronaldo
Mentions: Totti

Manager: Jose Mourinho
Keeper: Michel Preud´homme
DR: Panucci
DC: Baresi
DC: Mozer
DL: Roberto Carlos
Defensive Midfield: Patrick Vieira
Centre midfield (box-to-box): Ballack
Atacking Midfield (creative player): Diego Armando Maradona
Right Wing: Luis Figo
Left Wing: Ryan Giggs
Striker: Gabriel Batistuta
Formation: 4-1-1-3-1 (it´s strange to define this formation but you can surely see how it would work with Vieira pressing high and Ballack running to the box. Maradona, figo and giggs should give good chances to one of the most complete strikers ever!)
Alternative formation:
Deco in the place of Ballack
Romário in the place of Maradona
Formation 4-4-2 with Deco also helping Vieira in the midfield being still criative and great passing ability. Romario with more freedom would support Batistuta.
Young Star: Cristiano Ronaldo would be on the bench to launch on either wing
EDIT: When playing just one striker I prefer having Ballack because he is more of a goalscorer and able to get the free space in the box and score. Once I have 2 strikers I prefer to choose Deco because he generally is a better fighter in the midfield and a bit more creative and inteligent when passing the ball. I would allways choose Deco if he could score more...but that´s generally what keeps him from being a dream player...but still you can´t go wrong with him if you have others to take the chances.

MF-Beckham, Kaka, Ballack
FW-Ronaldinho, Shevchenko, Henry
Think this could work well.
