The Good Guys had a quiet winter following their latest championship. With their contract situation for the following year settled, Mitch and Naomi spent a peaceful offseason without any major distractions. They attended counseling, took a family vacation, as well as one as a couple, and just tried to bask in the tranquility.
After a decent spring, the Paradise Islanders opened the new season on a bright, sunny, April day against the Mets. After hoisting the championship flag, to the roar of over 50,000 people, the team went to work. Their first game was not what they had hoped for. After hitting three homers, and gaining a 5-0 lead, everything went to hell. Kate Hudson had pitched six shutout innings, striking out a dozen Mets, but also piling up the pitches. In the seventh, Naomi entered the game, and the lead began to go down the drain. Naomi gave up two runs in the seventh, Amanda Bynes two more in the eighth, and then, finally, Hilary Duff served up what would be a game winning two run homer in the ninth, as the team suffered a frustrating 6-5 loss. The clubhouse was deathly quiet, as everyone was very upset about blowing a five run lead.
Things didn't get any better the next day. The team returned to the park on a cloudy, humid, somewhat wet afternoon with Gil Bellows on the hill. Gil turned in a decent effort, allowing only three runs in six innings, but, the Good Guys got shut out that day, falling 3-0. The Good Guys finally salvaged the third game of the series, another afternoon affair, behind eight fantastic innings of one run pitching by Charlize Theron, as she fanned ten Mets, combining with Duff, to come away with a 4-1 triumph.
Atlanta came to town on Friday night for the first night game of the season. Neve Campbell was on the hill, and she, too, turned in a decent effort, permitting only three runs in seven innings. Unfortunately, against the Braves, that did not always translate into a win, as their starter was better, and the Good Guys found themselves on the short end of a 3-2 score. The downward spiral continued on Saturday night, in a game the Good Guys were never in, as the fifth starter allowed eight runs in the first inning, departing to a chorus of boos, as the team could manage only five singles, and no runs, in an 8-0 thumping at the hands of the Braves. The Paradise Islanders arrived at the park on Sunday with a pitiful one and four record, and took the field before a near sellout to a huge outpouring of jeers. The jeers quickly turned to cheers, as the Good Guys roughed up Atlanta ace John Smoltz for a Grand Slam homer in the first inning, and Kate Hudson was magnificent, striking out thirteen Braves, in a 5-0 whitewashing that stopped the bleeding, and hopefully turned things in the right direction.
The Astros visited Paradise in the last series of the homestand, before the Good Guys would hit the road for the first time that season. Gil Bellows pitched on Monday night, and was magnificent, striking out ten, and combining with Bynes and Duff, on a 2-0 shutout. Charlize Theron took her turn on Tuesday night, and fired a fine game, striking out nine Astros. Unfortunately, when good pitching dominates, one mistake would sometimes cost the pitcher a game, and that is what happened on that Tuesday, as Theron allowed an eighth inning homer, and the Good Guys couldnt recover, falling 1-0. Neve Campbell took the mound on a very warm Wednesday afternoon before a huge crowd, in the team's last game before they headed to New York the next day. After playing generally low scoring games throughout most of the homestand, the bats were at work that day. Neve was chased in the third inning, when the Astros scored five runs. The Good Guys retaliated with four runs in the fourth inning, went ahead in the fifth, blew the lead in the sixth, finally got it back in the eighth, and then used Duff to slam the door, which she did, in an eventual 9-8 Paradise Island win, that completed a four and five homestand, that could have actually turned out a lot worse than it did, considering the one and four start. The team headed on their first road trip, having won three of their last four games, and was hopefully starting to turn things around, after a very slow start.
No earth shattering occurrences were evolving in the Mitch-Naomi relationship in the early part of the season. The couple had agreed on the night before the season started, to try and be as even keel as possible, and not discuss future plans, impending retirement, or anything else much, until they saw how the season played out, and how they felt as the season wore on. There had been so much drama and distraction during the last two seasons, with impending threats, retirement, and conflict, that they wanted peace for a while. Mitch jokingly told Naomi that the season would be one of "keeping it simple", saying:" I'm basically going to collect my paycheck, you collect yours. We're going to play ball, gamble, be with our family, I'm going to fuck you, and tickle you, as much as I can, and whatever happens after that, we'll just have to see" Naomi giggled when Mitch said that, but the message was clear, day by day, no drama, and play things by ear.
In the meantime, the team held it's first Saturday night tickle party. The featured lee that evening would be a beautiful blonde haired bride to be, who was getting married that night, and wanted to be gang tickled by professional tickle team, during her one last night of freedom before tying the knot. The thin blonde haired beauty was tied hands and feet to the bed, in the middle of the fetish club, in a bikini. Pitcher Gil Bellows began the tickle on the bride to be's neck with fingers, as her head shifted from side to side, and the giggles began:HEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHE! NO! Moving down, Catcher Barney tickled the bride on her underarms, sides, ribs, and belly with fingers, as she thrashed at her restraints, and more girlish giggles erupted:HEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! OOOOH NOOOO! HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Center Fielder Ed Burns was next, tickling the bride on her hips, inner thighs, and behind her knees, and more squeals erupted from her. Finally, Mitch and Left Fielder Dawson each took one of the bride's bare feet, and procceded to them attack her feet with fingers, feathers, ice, and a vibrating electric massager over her soft soles and toes. This drove the bride into near insanity! She wiggled her toes every which way, and squealed with uncontrollable hysterical laughter, begging for mercy: HEHEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! OMG PLEASE NO MORE TICKLING MY FEEET! I CANNNT STAND IT! SOLES TOO TICKLLISH! NOOOO PLEASE! HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Finally, the tickling ended, and the exhausted woman was untied.
On Thursday night, as Naomi drove Mitch to the airport for the flight to New York, she left him with a few joking parting words. "Don't spend too much money up there in New York, and be careful, dont get mugged" She said, in jest. "I'm always careful, and dont worry, I wont get mugged, because the only one of us who has ever been mugged is you" Mitch said, poking Naomi in the belly, and leaving her with a kiss.
So, after a very rough beginning to the season, the team seemed to have righted the ship on the field during the final few days of their first homestand. Now came the real test, the first road trip of the young year. How would that play out, and what would happen next? Stay tuned for the continuing story of the Tickle Team from Paradise Island.

You're most welcome, Melanie, your praise is appreciated as always. All seasons have their ups and downs, but hopefully, this one wont be as dramatic as the last two.
As you know, stay tuned, there will be more to come soon.

Mitch

It's good to see that things seem to be going well for Mitch, and it is always nice to read a new Good Guys story. Let's hope the lower drama lifestyle will hold out.
