Could someone please send me the pedicure photos? I'll gladly post them where everyone can see them. Please read the message below for details.

************************************************** *******************

SOMEONE PLEASE READ THIS!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

I have posted this message before, but nobody has gotten back to me so I will try again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Furthermore, I've read the most recent posst to this thread and it's obvious that my previous messages have been ignored or dismissed.

Before I go any further, let me say that I work for an internet / web page design company and I do know how to view photographs on the internet.

The pedicure photographs will not work for many of us (I could give you the technobabble, but the end result is still the same). Due to the way various internet providers and servers are set up, the photos in their current locations are unavailable (and that does include the HITW site which Scooby listed yesterday -- that site only contains one photo --- a picture of a young woman in a midriff T-shirt).

Geocities is continuing to pull the photos down (and they will continue to do so). ***** Please read this part -- it is important. **** Geocities has a standing policy of pulling any photos which are posted. They WILL allow web pages. If you have photos and put them is the body of a web site they will NOT be pulled down. SOMEONE PLEASE NOTE THIS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THERE ARE NO TRICKS FOR VIEWING THE PICTURES. Waiting will NOT help.
Right or left clicking will NOT help. The problem is being caused by
the way the photos were posted.

ATTENTION ANYONE WHO CAN VIEW THE PHOTOS: Please right click on the pedicure photos and save them to your computer, email them to me, and I will put them online where EVERYONE can see them. I'm glad to make the photos available for everyone. I just need someone to send them to me.

SOMEONE PLEASE SEND ME THE PHOTOS. I just tested my email account and it IS working. However, my email account does have file size limits. If you try to send me the photos, it might work best to send them one at a time. My thanks in advance to anyone who can do this?

Not trying to disagree but there are ways to view the pics the way they are posted if someone uses an account like GeoCities!!! There are TWO ways. First, if they have used the [img] tags they will show up as a RED X in a box since GeoCities does not allow "direct" linking of stored files. Simply right click on the photo, choose properties, and it will display the FULL URL. Copy and paste it into the address bar and walla. Next, if they post a TEXT link to the pic with the full absolute path, all you have to do is click on the link and hold down with your left mouse button and drag the link up to your address bar and drop it...once again, it works!!! Now, GeoCities I believe has added a new "bandwidth" policy to the free accounts, so after a user has passed their monthly allowance, you will not see ANYHTING, but rather be directed to a Yahoo! GeoCities page telling you that the user has exceded their monthly bandwidth. Like I said, no trying to argue with you, but I know this works...I just did it before I replied to this post. It has nothing to do with a persons browser. I will collect all the pics and send them to you.

Ok...I sent you the pics. Now some clarifacation. Yes, you are right that if a person "included" the photos in a regular HTML document (webpage), then we could simply goto the URL and see all the pics. This is true...BUT, GeoCities is simply NOT just pulling down photos as soon as they are back up. GeoCities does NOT ALLOW "DIRECT" linking to anyone who has a FREE account and tries to link to their personal "File Storage." It's as simple as that...and they have also installed a bandwidth rule...once a user has exceded their bandwidth limitations, Noone can see nothing no matter what...pages, images, sounds...ZERO...until the new monthly bandwidth cycle.

I believe the reason this happened was because when WebTv was very popular for a while, people were using places like GeoCities, Tripod and Angelfire to store graphics at...then they were using these graphics in their e-mail sigs OR since alot of webtv users did not know how to download stuff they would link to others files and the bandwidth was outrageous!!! It was causing all the services (servers) to slow up big time as well as caused system problems that continually needed maintenance.

I will prove it. Here is a text link to one of the photos.

Now either copy and paste it in your address bar or left click, hold down and DRAG it to the address bar and let go!!!!

http://www.geocities.com/theannex2000/annex/patr2.jpg

Now notice if you just try to click on the link, it will not work...why??? Because it is trying to link to a FILE instead of an HTML document and that is a No-NO. Notice it says patr2.jpg...that is a specific file name...not a path to a web page. Now if the pic was INCLUDED in the WEBPAGE, then it would work therefore having either a .htm/.html extension. Hope this helps clear things up about this.

REMINDER TO ALL:::if the user of this site has passed bandwidth limitations, NOTHING will work!!!!

The "drop & drag" method doesn't work either!! I'd really appreciate it if someone e-mail me the pics also. Thanks!

As I said, Geocities will pull ANY photo which is placed out there as a standalone. If it's part of a web site, it will stay (unless it exceeds its bandwidth).

Photos placed on Geocities by themselves (not as part of a web site) will be pulled. THAT IS IN THE GEOCITIES PUBLSIHING GUIDELIINES. I AM NOT MAKING IT UP!!! GO READ THE POLICY STATEMENT AT GEOCITIES.

Well, I tried that e-mail addy again and it didn't work.

But on to my other point. It seems you (and whoever else can't see the pics) are just not logging in at the right time. Out of the 7 or 8 times I've seen my post (with the pedicure pics), only once did I not see them -- and saw red X's instead. Right now it is 4:55, U.S. Central Standard Time, and the pictures are working just fine for me. I don't even have to right click or get the URL; I see them right on the thread.

In fact, this is the message Geocities gives to those who can't see the pics:

*Sorry, this site is temporarily unavailable!*

*The web site you are trying to access has exceeded its allocated data transfer. Visit our help area for more information.
Access to this site will be restored within an hour. Please try again later*

Notice it says the site has "exceeded its allocated data transfer" and that "Access to this site will be restored within an hour". Since there are thousands of people trying to see this site at this second, you just have to wait and try a better time :D

the link i posted has to be copied and pasted. Just right click the link, and click on "Copy Shortcut" now highlight the text in the address bar, and delete it. Then just right clight the text field in the address bar, and click paste. Then hit enter. Voila

ALL Pics are placed in the file manager as a standalone files!!!! How else can you "STORE" files??? Try to understand this Reflex...GeoCities does not allow LINKING to "standalone" files by themselves. They have their server configured to recognize this...BUT, if you type the absolute path in your address bar (or copy and paste it there) it is not recognized as a link since it is not coming from another URL...and it will work. Natuarlly they will work if placed in a webpage, but most people are not willing to make a webpage of pics just for this forums pleasure.

If it makes any difference which I doubt, I have been using Internet Explorer 5.0+ on a windows based OS since I have I been in this forum, and it always works for me. I assume that is what most people use.

I am not trying to argue with you, so don't take it wrong cause after all I tried and help you with the pics!!! I just don't understand how this cannot work for you one way or the other.
