The Good Guys, coming off a high with their fine first homestand of the season, embarked on their first road trip of the year. Their first stop was New York, where, despite dropping two of three, they had a thrilling win in their one victory while in town, when, after Kate and Tom Glavine had dueled each other to a 1-1 tie through eight innings, the Good Guys then proceeded to score four runs in the top of the ninth, with three coming on a Mitch home run off Mets relief ace Billy Wagner, in a tie game. After completing their series in New York, they went to Atlanta, where they lost two of three again, before going to Houston, and winning two of three there. They returned home on a Sunday night, to begin their second homestand of the year, against the teams from middle America.
The Paradise Islanders had played a Sunday night game in Houston to close the series and the road trip. They did not arrive at their homes in Paradise Island until after 3am Monday Morning, with a 7:35 game scheduled for that night. The Pirates, meanwhile, had played an afternoon game, thus resting at the hotel on Sunday night, as the Good Guys battled the Astros on National TV. It proved to be advantage: Pittsburgh, as a tired Kate Hudson got bashed for four runs in only three innings, and the Good Guys didnt hit a lick, managing only five singles, in a lethargic looking 4-1 loss in front of a booing crowd of over 30,000. The next night, with the team more well rested, they looked sharp as tacks, as Gil Bellows was dominant, fanning eight in eight innings, and the Good Guys got the crowd on their side early, with a four run first inning, en route to a crisp 4-1 victory. Charlize Theron took the mound on on Wednesday night. She twirled a fine game, striking out nine in seven innings, and allowing but two runs, in a 5-2 triumph.
Thursday was an off day. On that day, with their relationship with Alan improved that year, Mitch and Naomi had agreed to do some promotional charity work for a joint venture that Alan, the team, and the hotel were involved with. The previous night, Mitch had eaten some bad food, and felt ill in the morning upon awakening. Bleary eyed from the game the night before, and not feeling 100%, Mitch had at first agreed to do the charity event, then called Alan personally to ask if it could be postponed until the following day. Alan agreed. There was a catch to the whole thing. Due to his weariness, Alan had tried to make things easier on Mitch, by asking Spencer, Mitch's old nemisis, to drive him to and from the photo shoot. After Mitch called Alan to inform him of the former's illness, Mitch then contacted Spencer to let him know that the event had been put off until the following day, and received a very nasty retort from Spencer, who told Mitch that he had planned his day around the event, and asked the right fielder how Mitch knew he would be better tomorrow. Incensed, Mitch hung up the phone, and called back Alan:"I really wish you would fire that son of a bitch. He is a waste of human flesh. A fat, overgrown, putz, who doesnt know his place!" Mitch ranted. Alan assured Mitch that the former would speak with Spencer about his behavior, and that if Spencer didnt shape up his attitude, he would be fired, a circumstance Mitch coveted, and wished for. It was comforting for Mitch to know that Alan understood him for once.
Chicago came to town on Friday night. Neve Campbell was on the hill. She allowed three runs in seven innings. Yet, the Good Guys scored four, and won, 4-3. Rachel Leigh Cook went to the mound on Saturday night. She allowed but one run in eight innings. Yet, in the ninth, with Hilary Duff pitching, the roof caved in, as the Cubs scored four runs, and the Good Guys could not recover, losing the contest by a 5-1 score. Kate Hudson took her turn on a sunny, 85 degree Sunday, in front of a sellout. She was matched up with Kerry Wood. This time, the Good Guys gave her some support. Mitch hit an early home run, and Neve pitched six strong innings, giving way to Naomi, who pitched a scoreless seventh, then Bynes, who blanked the Cards in the eighth, and finally, Duff, who pitched a one, two three ninth, as the Good Guys capped the homestand with a fine looking 4-1 Good Guy victory, that finished off a fine six and three homestand. Everything was coming up peaches on the field, as the Good Guys packed for Pittsburgh with a fine twelve and six home record. Even Alan was happy with their good play.
In the meantime, the team held it's Saturday night tickle party. The featured lee would be the new pre game show host for home games with the team. The gig with the team was the girl's first broadcasting job, and she was a newbie to both baseball broadcasts, and tickling. The tall blonde was tied hands and feet to the bed in the middle of the fetish club in a bra and panties.
