The Good Guys embarked on their last road trip of the year, this time to Washington, Philadelphia, and Cincinnatti, going four and five. They returned home on a Sunday night, tied for the wild card, facing a critical six game homestand against the Mets and Atlanta, to conclude the regular season.
The Good Guys took the field on Monday night to face the Mets. Kate Hudson was on the hill, and she did her job to perfection, allowing only one run over seven innings, to come away with a 3-1 win. Gil Bellows took his turn on Tuesday night, and allowed four runs, dropping the game, 4-3, to cloud the playoff picture again. Charlize Theron pitched on Wednesday night, and fired a shutout, winning, 3-0, to take a one game wild card lead.
Thursday was an off day. The team held a very light workout, to prepare for the still dangerous Braves over that weekend.
On Friday, Kate Hudson took her turn again, with Sniderman hopeful that she could secure a win, and they would get one more that weekend, so she could go on three days rest in Game 1 of the playoffs. Kate pitched her heart out, but the offense got no runs, and the Good Guys fell, 1-0. The wild card was tied again, as Gil Bellows pitched on three days rest on Saturday night. It was a seesaw game, as Bellows did not have his best stuff. Each Good Guys score was met with a Braves retaliation. Finally, in the eighth, with Atlanta leading 6-5, the Good Guys struck. After a bloop hit, Mitch came up, and against Atlanta closer Bob Wickman, blasted a long, majestic, two run drive into the right field bullpen, to give Paradise the lead. Hilary Duff had to tiptoe through the ninth, and did, but came away with the 7-6 triumph, to give the Good Guys nothing less than a wild card tie. On Sunday, the last day of the regular season, the Braves, eliminated from the playoff race, sent their ace, John Smoltz, to the mound, against Charlize Theron. Smoltz got bombed early, as the Good Guys got a huge lead, and never looked back, to march into the playoffs with an 8-0 win. Now, they faced the playoffs without home field advantage for the first time in many years, and many could not predict how they would do.
On Tuesday, the team flew to Houston to begin the Division Series. Roger Clemens was on the mound against Kate Hudson. Both were brilliant, but Clemens was better, coming away with a 2-1 win to draw first blood. On Wednesday, things got better, as the Good Guys blasted Andy Pettite, and came away with a 10-5 victory, to send the series back to Paradise tied, 1-1.
Thursday was media and workout day at Good Guy stadium, with Game Three scheduled for Friday night. On Friday night, in front of 50,000 screaming fans, Charlize took the mound, and was magnificent against the Astros Roy Oswalt, allowing no runs, as the Good Guys got but one, and won the contest, 1-0. Now, the Paradise Islanders had a chance to finish Houston in Game Four, and sent Kate Hudson to the mound on three days rest to try and do so. She was up to the task, allowing but one run in six innings. Clemens was just as good. In the eighth, the Good Guys scratched a run, and then had to weed through the mine field in the ninth, with Duff finishing Houston, to earn the win in the series, and send the Good Guys to New York for the NLCS.
The Good Guys, as decided underdogs, flew to New York on Monday to begin the National League Championship Series. Pedro Martinez would oppose Gil Bellows in Game One of a best of seven series. Bellows was fine, as he allowed but two runs in seven innings. Unfortunately, Pedro allowed none, and the Mets won the game, 2-0, to gain the advantage. Tom Glavine would face Charlize in Game Two, with the Good Guys needing a win, so as not to go back to Paradise down two games to none. Glavine was very good, allowing one earned run, and an unearned run. Charlize, however, was much better, allowing but one hit, in a 2-1 triumph, to tie the series, and send it back to Paradise.
After an off day on Thursday, the Good Guys and Mets met in Game Three on Friday night, with a well rested Kate Hudson on the mound. Kate was magnificent that night, allowing no runs in eight innings. Steve Trachsel allowed only one, but one was just enough, to win the game, 1-0, and give the Good Guys the advantage. The matchup for Game Four would be the same as in Game One, Pedro vs Bellows. Once again, Bellows had his work cut out for him. Bellows allowed but one run on but three hits, but again, Pedro allowed none, to prevail 1-0, to tie the series at two games apiece.
The Good Guys took the field on Sunday night knowing they desperately needed a win in Game Five. Once again, it was Charlize vs Glavine. This time, Glavine was not as sharp as he had been in Game Two, allowing three runs in seven innings. The Good Guys made the lead stand up, coming away with a 3-1 win, to take the series lead, and give them two chances to win one game in New York.
Back to New York the teams went for Game Six. Each team scored a run early, as it was again Hudson Vs Trachsel on that Tuesday night. Then, tied, 1-1, the scoring settled down. Kate pitched a gutsy game into the seventh inning, and then gave way to the bullpen. The Good Guys clawed out a run in the eighth, and then, brought in Duff, praying she could get six outs. Duff got the first three in the eighth with ease. In the ninth, the heart of the Mets order was up. A groundout was followed by a deep flyout. Then, with two outs, Hilary struck out the scary Carlos Delgado, to perserve the win, and send the Good Guys to the World Series on Saturday night, against the Yankees.
In a curious bit of scheduling, the Good Guys flew home to Paradise for three days to rest, and engage in workouts, before flying back to New York on Friday to open the World Series that Saturday night at Yankee Stadium.
Kate Hudson opposed the Big Unit, Randy Johnson, on Saturday night, to open the World Series. Kate was great, allowing only two runs. Unfortunately Johnson was better, as he gave up but one, and the Yankees won, 2-1. Gil Bellows opposed Mike Mussina for Game Two. The Good Guys got to Mussina early , for three quick runs, quieting the big Stadium crowd. Then, in the eighth, Hilary came on, to get six outs, as the Good Guys prevailed 3-0 in a game they were never really threatened in.
The teams returned to Paradise on Monday, for Game Three on Tuesday night. Charlize would be on the mound for Game Three, opposing the Yankees rookie Chin Min Wang. Charlize pitched a fine game, only two earned runs, but, once again, Wang was better, and the Good Guys got shut out, 2-0. Hudson and Johnson would go again in Game Four. Both pitchers pitched well early. Then, in the middle innings, the Good Guys began scoring tons of runs off the Unit. They ballooned their lead to 6-0. Then, a homer cut it in half. The Yankees had baserunners in the eighth, and the Good Guys knew they needed to win this game, badly, to tie the series, and have a chance. Sniderman brought Duff in. With two out, and two on, she faced Catcher Jorge Posada, who promptly quieted the sellout crowd, with a three run bomb to tie the game. The Yankee bullpen held the Good Guys scoreless, and then, in the ninth, Amanda Bynes allowed another homer, to give the Yankees the lead, as Mr Automatic, Mariano Rivera, came in, to put down the Good Guys, and put the Yankees one win from the promised land. The Good Guy clubhouse was devastated, as they were one win from tying the series, with a huge lead in the game, only to see it go up in smoke.
Gil Bellows faced Mike Mussina in Game Five, with the Good Guys facing elimination. Bellows allowed but one cheap run in the first. Inning after inning went by, the Good Guys and Yankees both allowing nothing. In the ninth, trailing 1-0, Rivera came in to try and finish off the Good Guys. A ground ball was followed by a strikeout. Finally, with Mitch up, he put the painful end on the Good Guys season, with a deep fly ball to Center Field, that was caught by Center Fielder Johnny Damon, to give the Yankees the World Championship. The Good Guys were bitterly disappointed about losing the title, especially on their home field, but yet, their fans gave them a long standing ovation for their fine season.
In the clubhouse, the usual questions prevailed about the next year. Were Mitch and Naomi coming back, etc? Mitch, who was very disappointed, faced the cameras. "We had a good season. We came up short. I am hopeful we can stand here next year again as World Champions. I congratulate Joe Torre and his Yankees, and hope to come back at them next year. Alan, who was disappointed, of course, issued a supportive statement of his team:" I am very proud of my club. I am of course disappointed that they didnt win it all, but we are the National League Champions. We had a fine baseball season. I am hopeful of standing here once again next year, having won it all." Alan said stoically.
In the meantime, the team held it's final tickle party of the season, on Saturday night, just before everyone scattered for the winter. The featured lee would be a thin, pretty blonde waitress who served the Good Guys at their private stadium club, Melissa. The pretty blonde was tied hands and feet to the bed in the middle of the fetish club. Catcher Barney began the tickle on Melissa's neck with fingers, as her head shifted from side to side, and the giggles began:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! NOOO! Moving down, second baseman Russell was next, attacking Melissa on her underarms, sides, ribs, and belly with fingers, as she squealed and squeaked:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! THATS VERY TICKLISH! NOOOO! HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Center Fielder Ed Burns was the next tickler, tickling Melissa on her hips, inner thighs, and behind her knees with fingers, causing her knees to buck, and squeals. Finally, Mitch got to attack his favorite spot, the soles of Melissa's soft feet. He tickled her soft feet with his fingers, a feather, ice, and an electric toothbrush on her soles and ten toes. This drove her beserk. She wiggled her toes every which way, and begged for mercy:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! OMG PLEASSSEE NO MORE! I GIVE UP! NO PLEASE NOOOOO! HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Finally, the tickle ended, and the cute blonde was untied.
So, it had been a season of much accomplishment, that ended in great disappointment in front of the team's beloved home fans. Now, came the long winter, and more than likely, another season ahead, for Mitch and Naomi, and the beloved members, win or lose, of the Tickle Team From Paradise Island.

The End

As they say, close but no cigar. A great story though, had me guessing till the end which is always a good thing. I look forward to the next one and the start of a fresh season.

HappyD

Thank you, happy, your praise is appreciated as always. As we know, as much as we love this team, they cant win it all every year. Since they had won the Series last year, I figured this year that they should come up a bit short. It was fitting that they went down in front of their home fans.
As you know, stay tuned, there will be more to come soon.

Mitch
