The Good Guys embarked on their next road trip. They went four and five on the trip, losing two of three in San Fransisco, before winning two of three in San Diego, and then losing two of three in Los Angeles. They returned home, for a final weekend, against the Mets, before preparing for the playoffs.
No one was particularly worried about the state of the ballclub, when they were swept three in a row, the last weekend against the Mets. The team was focused on the playoffs, and what they had to do there. They would have home field advantage in all rounds, and were determined to do one thing, win the title, and nothing short of that.
The National League playoffs began on Tuesday afternoon in Paradise against Atlanta. Kate Hudson opposed Tim Hudson. Tim was good, but Kate was better, as she allowed two runs in seven innings, and hit a double to boot. The Good Guys scratched out just enough runs, and the bullpen held the Braves off, by a 4-3 score. John Smoltz would oppose Gil Bellows in Game Two. Smoltz, the consummate playoff pitcher, allowed but one run in eight innings. The Braves, unfortunately, could put up only that number for him as well. The game was tied, 1-1 in the ninth, when the Good Guys took command of the series, as Mitch blasted a homer, to give the Good Guys a 2-1 win, and put Atlanta one loss from elimination.
The teams flew to Atlanta for Game Three. After an off day Thursday, Charlize Theron opposed Horacio Ramirez on Friday night. The Braves scored three runs off Charlize early, and, fighting for their lives, hung on, to prevail, 3-2, for their first win of the series. Hudson and Hudson matched up again for Game Four. Tim was very good, as he allowed one run in eight innings. Kate, however, pitched one of the best games in playoff history, fanning thirteen Braves, and allowing but one hit, to finish the Braves on their home Turner Field, by a 1-0 score, and send the Good Guys to the National League Championship Series against the Mets that Tuesday evening.
The Good Guys and Mets hooked up in Game One of the NLCS. Gil Bellows opposed Tom Glavine in Game One. Glavine got hit hard early, allowing three runs, then settled down. The Mets got two runs off Bellows, and had the bases loaded in the ninth, with the Good Guys leading 3-2, before Hilary Duff struck out Carlos Delgado, to squeeze the win for Paradise. Charlize Theron opposed Steve Trachsel on Wednesday night. Trachsel was hit hard as well, allowing four runs. Charlize pitched very well, premitting only two runs, as the Good Guy bullpen was stellar, in an eventual 4-2 win, to take a two game to none lead.
After an off day on Thursday, the teams flew to New York for Game Three on Friday night. Kate Hudson would oppose Pedro Martinez. Kate was great that night, allowing two runs, one earned, striking out ten, but Pedro was better, twirling a shutout, for a 2-0 Mets win, to give them their first win. Bellows and Glavine would rematch for Game Four. Glavine gave up only one run over six innings. In the seventh, tied, 1-1, manager Willie Randolph kept him in the game, and Glavine allowed a two run homer, to give Paradise the lead. The Mets nearly rallied in the ninth, scoring one run, and putting two men on. Duff again saved the day, however, fanning Carlos Beltran, to put Paradise one win from the World Series. Gave Five was no contest, as with a 3-1 series lead, manager Sniderman opted to use Neve Campbell in Game Five, and give Charlize an extra day of rest. It didnt work out, as Campbell was bombed, allowing four runs in the first, as the Mets never looked back, and won, 10-4.
The teams flew back to Paradise for Game Six. The Good Guys wanted to win Game Six, badly, to avoid having to use Kate in Game Seven, and save her for the Yankees on Saturday night. Paradise scored five runs early, taking a huge lead. The Mets, however, would not go away, as they tied the game in the middle innings against Charlize, and went ahead in the eighth, against the Good Guy bullpen. In the bottom half, with the Mets leading 7-5, the Good Guys struck, as a couple of hits plated a run, and then, with two men on, Mitch launched a long home run, to give Paradise the lead. The teams went back on the field for the ninth, with Duff pitching, and the Good Guys holding a two run lead. Two hits plated a run. Then, with men on base, leading by a run, Duff threw a third strike past Delgado, to give the Good Guys the pennant, and send them to the World Series! The stadium was bedlam, and the team ecstatic. Inwardly, everyone tried to be on an even keel, as there was one more mile to go, before they could and would let loose, a mile they had not conquered, the year before.
After workout and media days, the Good Guys and Yankees met on Saturday night at Good Guy stadium, in Game One of yet another World Series. Kate Hudson opposed the unit, Randy Johnson. Johnson pitched very well, allowing three runs in eight innings, only two earned, fanning ten. Kate, however, was better, as she allowed only two runs, and combined with Duff, to draw first blood, in a 3-2 win. Gil Bellows opposed Mike Mussina on Sunday night in Game Two. Mussina was racked around, allowing four runs by the fifth inning. The Good Guys led, 4-1 into the eighth, when the Yankees began scoring runs. They got two, and Duff had to come in for the eighth. She escaped that jam, and then, in the ninth, allowed more baserunners, but managed to get the outs she needed, to secure the 4-3 win, and put Paradise halfway to the title.
Off to New York the teams went for Game Three. Charlize would oppose Yankee starter Chin Min Wang. Wang was brilliant, allowing only one run over seven innings. Charlize, however, was near perfect, allowing but one hit, and nothing else, in a 1-0 win, that put Paradise one win from the promised land. So far, the Series had been close, but the Good Guys had gotten the breaks, and were sitting pretty. Would they sweep? That answer came in Game Four, as Hudson took on Johnson again. Both pitchers were fantastic, allowing only one run each over seven innings. The Good Guys scratched a run in the eighth, and led, 2-1. The Yankees managed to load the bases on two walks. Then, after a sacrifice, Johnny Damon hit a seeing eye ground ball, that second baseman Russell had go just past his glove. Two runs scored, the Yankees had the lead, and Mariano Rivera did the rest in the ninth, as the Yankees got their first win, 3-2. Gil Bellows faced Mike Mussina again in Game Five. Botn teams scored two runs early. Then, in a steady rain, there were scoring droughts of epic perpotions. The Good Guys finally pushed a run across the board, in the top of the 15th inning, to take a 3-2 lead. The Yankees would not go away, getting two hits, and tying the game again, against Naomi. Then, with three men on, Naomi served up a Grand Slam home run, to give the Yankees a dramatic win, and send the Good Guys to a crushing defeat, for the second night in a row.
While the team was disappointed about the two tough losses in New York, they also were optimistic to be going home, and of their chances to win in Game Six. Charlize would take on Chin Min Wang again. The crowd was at fever pitch, smelling blood, and a title. The Yankees, however, would not cooperate, as they crushed Charlize early, scoring five runs, and cruising to a 13-4 win, to tie the series at three games apiece. The stunned Good Guys sat in their clubhouse after the game, shocked at blowing a three game to none lead, and letting the Yankees tie the series. Now, it was all or nothing at all, on Sunday night.
That day, everything, the Mitch-Naomi household, the casinos, the entire island, was at a virtual standstill, saving energy, praying that the team could come through on Sunday night, after losing three straight games. Kate and Johnson would go again on three days rest apiece. What would be, would it be all, or nothing at all? The crowd was at absolute fever pitch, 62,000 strong, on Sunday night, as the teams met in the deciding Game Seven of the World Series. Both pitchers would undoubtedly need help. The Yankees scored a run early, quieting the crowd a bit, but, the Good Guys got it right back. The score was tied, 1-1 in the sixth, when Johnson got into trouble, and was removed. In the bottom of the seventh, against a left hander, Mitch slammed a home run, to give the Good Guys the lead, and put the crowd at fever pitch. Sniderman gambled, and brought in Hilary Duff, praying she had two innings in her. Duff was fine in the eighth, but the Good Guys got no runs for her in their half. Out she went, up 2-1, needing three outs for it all. A harmless grounder, was followed by a strikeout. Then, after a walk, Jason Giambi came up. Duff threw him a ball, and two strikes. Then, he hit a long fly ball that at first looked like it might go out. The crowd stood up, but , Ed Burns had it all the way. One step from the wall, with his back to the wall, he hauled it in, sighed, and dropped to one knee. The Good Guys, after nearly blowing a three game to none lead in the World Series, were finally, the World Champions! Again! The crowd was bedlam, and the Good Guys, while inwardly ecstatic, were so exhuasted, they couldnt at first get up the energy to celebrate. They slowly walked into the middle of the diamond, hugged each other in a round the rosey circle, and then sat down on the field, and said a prayer. Of all the championships that they had ever won , while this should have been the sweetest, they were well aware that they nearly blew a three game to none lead, and were very, very, lucky, to have escaped with the title, after playing as poorly as they did in Games Four thru Six.
The team gathered in the clubhouse, for the trophy presentation, and interviews. Alan came down, and posed for pictures. "I am happy we won, but you guys almost freaking blew it, and gave the whole island thousands of coronaries. Dont ever fucking do that again!" He ordered. Also during the interviews, the media cornered Mitch, asking him if this latest title was uncle for him. "I am so tired, that I cant even think. I have to calm down, a party to attend, a parade to be in, and lots of thought. I cannot even think about any of that now. Right now, I just want to soak this all in" Mitch said.
The next night, Monday, the team held it's last tickle party of the year, after having the victory parade earlier in the day. The featured lee, being a good sport because the team won the title, would be Alan. He was tied hands and feet to the bed, in the middle of the fetish club, naked. Hilary Duff began the tickle on Alan's neck with fingers, as his head shifted from side to side, and the laughter began: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! NO! Moving down, Amanda Bynes was next, tickling Alan on his sides, ribs, belly, and pits with fingers, as Alan thrashed, and begged for mercy:HAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OMG THAT FUCKING TICKLES! NOOOO! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Kate Hudson was next, tickling Alan on his hips, inner thighs, and behind his knees with fingers, causing his legs to jerk, and more howls: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! TICKLISH! NOOO! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Finally, Naomi, who had always been the victim of face down foot tickling by her cruel and dominant husband, especially in recent times, relished the thought of being able to tickle someone else. She focused on Alan's feet, and attacked them with long fingernails that she had put on during a manicure that day, two feathers, ice, and an electric toothbrush, over his toes and soles. Alan went beserk, he wiggled his toes and jerked his feet every which way, and howled with laughter, begging for mercy: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! OMG PLEASE NO MORE NAOMI! I CANT STAND IT! NO MORE TICKLE! NO PLEASE NO! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Finally, the tickle ended, and Alan was untied.
So, another season of Good Guys baseball had come to an end. It had been hell, but had finished with the ultimate ending. Now, came another winter, and this time, it looked like there was little question that Mitch and Naomi would choose to return. After all, they had experienced the ultimate, during that season, with the Tickle Team from Paradise Island.

The End

Well I have to admit. Close to the end there I thought they were going to drop it again for the second year. I was on the edge of my seat. Wonderful story, as always. I look forward to the next season to see if the redoubtable Mitch is back.

Thank you, happy, your praise is appreciated as always. Yes, I thought I would keep you on the edge of your seat, before coming through with the title.
As always, stay tuned, there will be a new season to come soon, and you're just going to have to wait and see if Mitch comes back.

Mitch
