The Good Guys embarked on their last road trip of the year, going four and five, and clinching the division, and then, came home for a final weekend, sweeping the Mets three straight on the final weekend.
The National League Division Series began on a sunny, windy, Tuesday, in Paradise, against the Houston Astros. Kate Hudson, of course, was on the mound. She pitched a dominant game, allowing one run, and only three hits, while striking out ten, in seven innings. The offense got just enough done, with a pair of two run homers, to come away with a 4-1 win. Gil Bellows pitched Game Two on a bright Wednesday. Again, things were in the Good Guys favor, as they erupted for five runs early, and then the pitching did the rest, in a 5-0 win, to take a commanding two games to none lead.
After an off day on Thursday, the scene moved to Houston on Friday night. Charlize Theron was on the hill, and, the Good Guys didnt let down, scoring five runs in the first inning, and not looking back, as Hilary Duff was on the mound for the end, in a 5-2 win, to complete a sweep of the first round over the tough Astros.
Due to the sweep in the first round, a rarity, the team had four days to rest before the National League Championship Series against the Mets. A series that was sure to be very tough. Game One of that series was on Tuesday night, with Kate Hudson ready to pitch. Kate, as she always was, was right on, allowing one run, and two hits, with eleven punchouts, as the team hit four solo homers, and then Duff did the rest in the ninth, to draw first blood, with a 4-2 win. Gil Bellows pitched Game Two, a game that was not a contest. The Good Guys tore open Mets starter Tom Glavine early, for seven runs, in an 8-0 whitewashing, to again take a two game to none lead. Would this series be as easy as the last one? Only time would tell.
The teams rested on Thursday, and met for Game Three in New York on Friday night. Charlize Theron was on the mound, and she pitched a wonderful game, allowing only one run. Unforunately, the Good Guys could not get any off Mets starter Steve Trachsel, and fell, 1-0, for the Mets first win of the series. Kate went back to the hill on three days rest on Saturday night. The Good Guys got her a lead of 3-0, but then, in the seventh, the roof caved in, and the Mets got it to within 3-2. In the eighth, with Duff pitching, and trying to put the hammer on the series, she allowed a seeing eye single, with the bases loaded, to force home two runs, and then, Mets closer Billy Wagner did his thing in the ninth, for a 4-3 Met win, to tie the series at two games apiece. Gil Bellows took the ball on Sunday, with the Good Guys feeling letdown at losing two in a row. Things wouldnt get any better, as Gil allowed four runs in the opening inning, and the Mets never looked back, as they came away with a 7-4 win, to be one win from the World Series.
The Good Guys flew back to Paradise one loss from winter, and, with another scenario. Due to the fact that the series would have to go seven games, if the Good Guys were to pull it out, they needed to pitch Charlize in Game Six, and Kate Hudson in Game Seven to win, meaning that Kate could only pitch a maximum of two games in the World Series, if they got there, and that Bellows would start Games One, Four, and Seven if needed. First things first, as they first needed to rally against the Mets.
So, with the team facing elimination, 50,000 diehards came out screaming their heads off on Tuesday night. The matchup was Charlize against Trachsel. Trachsel got nicked for one run in the first, and another in the third. Charlize, meantime, was near brilliant, fanning Mets hitters with regularity, and staying in command. By the ninth, the Good Guys had a 5-2 lead, and Hilary Duff struck out Carlos Beltran to end it, but, it had only bought the Good Guys another day, as they needed another must win again tomorrow.
Game Seven, with 52,000 crazed fans making deafening noise, was played on Wednesday night. Kate Hudson would oppose Mets ace Pedro Martinez. Neither pitcher allowed a run over the first five innings. In the sixth, the Mets got a run, which the Good Guys got right back. In the bottom of the eighth, with the score tied, 1-1, Mitch came up, and launched a solo blast, deep into the back of the left field bullpen, to give Paradise the lead. With the crowd delirious, Hilary Duff came out to start the ninth. An out was followed by a bloop hit. Finally, with Carlos Delgado up, Hilary threw a third strike past him, to give the Good Guys the National League Championship, and send them to the World Series on Saturday night, against who else, the Yankees. The team was exhausted, yet, happy, but knew it had one more mile to go.
The very tired Good Guys had two days to rest, before opening the World Series at home. They wanted revenge for the four game sweep of a year earlier, but everyone knew it would not be easy.
Saturday night, Good Guy Stadium, perfect skies, 80 degrees, Gil Bellows vs Randy Johnson. Johnson was very tough that night, striking out nine over five innings. With the game tied, 1-1, in the seventh, and Johnson having left for a pinch hitter. Mitch came up against Yankee reliever Scott Proctor, and launched a long home run into the bullpen in right, to give Paradise the lead. Duff was perfect in the ninth, and the Good Guys had first blood, but they knew the series was far from over. Kate Hudson would go in Game Two, on three days rest. In spite of having only three days rest, Kate was great that night, fanning eight in six innings, and leaving with a 3-0 lead, given to her by her mates, from their production off Yankees starter Chin Min Wang. The bullpen carried the team to the ninth, where Duff was lights out again, nailing down a 3-1 Good Guy win, to put them halfway to the promised land.
After an off day on Monday, the teams met in New York, for Game Three on Tuesday night. Charlize Theron was on the mound, against the Yankees Mike Mussina. Both were good, and, tied 1-1 in the eighth, Amanda Bynes made a mistake, something you couldnt do with the Yankees, and gave up a long homer, to give New York the lead. Yankee closer Mariano Rivera did the rest in the ninth, and the Yankees had a 2-1 win, to draw their first win of the series. Gil Bellows was on the mound for Game Four. He did a very credible job, two runs over eight innings. In the eighth, with the Good Guys leading 3-2, and Bynes pitching, second baseman Russell committed a costly throwing error, to give the Yankees two runs, and the win, 4-3, to tie up the series. The clubhouse was very quiet, and now, the Good Guys faced big pressure to win on Thursday night. Kate Hudson pitched Game Five, and wanted badly to send her team home with the series lead, after the back to back bad games in New York. Kate was magnificent that night, striking out eleven. The game was tied, 2-2 in the eighth, when center fielder Ed Burns came up, and hit a long homer. Hilary Duff made things hard in the ninth, as the Yankees loaded the bases with two out. However, Jason Giambi struck out, the Good Guys had their win in New York, and were going home, with two chances to put the series away.
Game Six, Saturday night, Paradise Island, clear skies, 82 degrees. Perfect setting, it looked like, for a party. Charlize Theron would try to bring it to the island. Charlize got nicked early, for one run in the first, and another in the third. The Good Guys couldnt get any offensive rallies sustained, and went to the ninth, trailing 2-1. With Rivera on the mound, the Yankees put the Good Guys down, to set up an all the marbles Game Seven on Sunday night.
On Sunday night, the teams gathered at Good Guy Stadium for Game Seven. Gil Bellows was on the mound. Kate could not pitch, because Sniderman did not want to risk sending her on two days rest. Bellows was not Paradise's best starter, but, at that point in the year, he would have to do, and, he had pitched effectively in Games One and Four. Suddenly, just as the national anthem was about to be sang, the winds picked up, showers belted down, and lightning flashed, and the field was covered. With the nervousness of Game Seven of the World Series, the last thing anyone needed was this. The rain came in torrents, and would not stop. The umpires waited an hour, then two, and then two and a half. Finally, at 1030pm, the game was called, and Game Seven was pushed back to Monday night, and, as soon as that happened. Sniderman had an announcement, and Kate Hudson would get the ball, the ace, in the most important game of the year.
So, it was deja vu on Monday night, as the sellout crowd came back for Game Seven. The skies weren't clear, but rather overcast, but, no rain was expected, and it was a humid evening. Kate Hudson, as it should be, the ace, was opposing Yankee starter Chin Min Wang. The game was scoreless in the third, when, suddenly, Kate allowed back to back home runs, to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead. In the fifth, the Good Guys erupted, scoring one run on a base hit, and two more, on a homer. Kate, on three days rest, carried the team to the sixth, with the score tied. Amanda Bynes pitched a quick seventh, and then, in the bottom half, third baseman Michael came up, and hammered a long homerun to give the Good Guys the lead! Two other runs scored that inning, to give Paradise a 6-3 advantage. The Yankees, however, werent done, as, against Bynes in the eighth, first baseman Jason Giambi hit a two run double, to bring the Yankees within one. Hilary Duff came on, and put out the fire in the eighth. In the bottom half, leading off, with the Good Guys leading by one, Mitch came up, and smashed a monsterous homer over the center field fence, to give Paradise a two run lead. A couple of more hits followed, and then, embarrassment hit the Yankees, as Hilary Duff delivered a bloop RBI hit, to give the Good Guys an 8-5 lead. In the ninth, the team went back onto the field, with the fans ballistic, and ready to shout out a year's frustration. The first out was a shallow fly ball to left, which was followed by a groundout, short to first. With two outs, and the last Yankee hitter up, the mighty Yankees had nothing left. Two quick strikes, were followed by a fastball, that a basketball player wouldnt have been able to reach, for swinging strike three, ball game over, Good Guys were the World Champs, again! When the game ended, the fans were going ballistic in the stands, but, the exhausted Good Guys merely hugged and cried at mid field. The World Series might have been the most bastardly and difficult ever, and the team knew that they had survived by the skin of their teeth.
In the postgame interviews, with champange flowing, the team was more grateful and reflective, than euphoric. In the interviews, the usual questions were asked, analysis, next year, and all the catch phrases. Mitch, who had not an ounce of energy left, said:" We were damn lucky to pull this out, both of the last two series in fact. We well could have lost. I congratulate the Yankees, as it was a great series, as it could have really gone either way. We all gave the fans a wonderful World Series, and, the Yankees can hold their heads high. When the media asked Mitch what his immediate plans were, he said:" Celebrate, get some food, collect a trophy, go home and tickle Naomi's feet" To this she quipped in another part of the clubhouse:" Oh, really, American, you are going home to tickle my feet? You can go tickle your own feet tonight, because I am too tired to do any of that crap. I am going home, and going to bed, as I am exhuasted." She said.
The next day, a more rested Paradise team had the traditional parade down Main Street in Nassau, with photographs, speeches, TV coverage, and all the pomp and circumstance. It was a sunny, bright day, and, as happy as everyone was, the team looked forward to a restful winter.
That night, after the Parade, Mitch got home, and, once the couple was undressed, he forciably tied Naomi up:" Hey, what the fuck is this, American?" She demanded. "I told you, you got out of a foot tickle last night, due to claiming tiredness, so now, you are going to get a full body tickle, bitch from down under!" Mitch said, dominantly. With that, Mitch began the tickle on Naomi's neck with fingers, as her head shifted from side to side, and the giggles began:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Moving down, Mitch commenced a relentless assault on Naomi's underarms, sides, ribs, and belly with fingers, counting her ribs:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH! Working down, Mitch next tickled Naomi on her hips, inner thighs, and knees with fingers, causing squeals, and leg bucking:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH! Finally, Mitch got to the soles of Naomi's feet, tickling them with his fingers, two feathers, ice, and an electric toothbrush on her soles and ten toes. Naomi went beserk, wiggling her toes every which way, and squealing with laughter, begging for mercy:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! OMG PLEASE NO MORE! I GIVE UP! PLEASSSEEE STAHPPPPP! I WILL FUCK YOU IF YOU STOPPPP! JUST PLEEASSEE STOPPPP TICKLINNGGGG MEEEEE! NOOOOO! HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHHEHEHEHEHEHE! Finally, the tickle ended, Mitch untied the exhausted Naomi, and yes, he did fuck her.
So, a dastardly postseason had come to an end in glorious fashion, with the championship secured through perserverance, and survival. Now came the long winter, but, this time, it would be one of celebration, and, of course, the Good Guys would always be back to fight next spring, yes, there was always next spring for the Tickle Team From Paradise Island.

The End

Well the Good Guys certainly made it an interesting end of the year there. Allowing the teams to stay alive for so long. I wasn't sure they were going to make it in the end. Another great story and I look forward to the next one and the start of the next season.

HappyD

Thank you, happy, your praise is appreciated, as always. Yes, I intentionally made it a bit gut wrenching for them, to keep you on the edge of your perverbal seat, my friend. LOL! However, they did walk away winners, and pulled it out in the end.
As you know, stay tuned, a new season will be coming up in the next day or so.

Mitch
