The Good Guys, having played 135 games, finished up the regular season on a down note. First they went three and six during a nine game road trip, and then, returning home for a final time, went three and six again, on another nine game homestand. They had clinched the division, but were far from sharp, entering the playoffs.
Mitch and Naomi, their emotions exhausted from the long season, and the procedure, joined with their team, to open the National League Division Series, on Tuesday, against Houston. Kate Hudson, started, of course, and pitched well, firing seven shutout innings, as the Good Guys got but three runs, which was enough, to produce a shutout, 3-0. Gil Bellows was the starter for Game Two. The Good Guys bats were booming that day, as they scored twelve runs, and came away with a 12-4 win. Two down, one to go, Houston calling.
After an off day on Thursday, the teams met in Houston for Game Three on Friday night. Charlize Theron was the starter. The Good Guys got her four early runs, and held the lead through the eighth, when, with the score 4-1, and Hilary Duff pitching, the roof caved in, as the Astros scored four times on two homers. The Houston closer put the Good Guys out in the ninth, and they had to play another day. Kate came back on three days rest for Game Four. She pitched decently, but had two costly errors committed behind her, good for three Houston runs, and a 3-2 Astros win. Now, a deciding Game Five would need to be played in Paradise on Sunday.
Good Guy Stadium was very loud for Game Five on Sunday afternoon. Gil Bellows was the starter. The Astros nicked him for a run in the first, and another in the third. With the score 2-0 in the sixth, the Good Guys came up with three runs. The score was 3-2 in the ninth, when Hilary Duff finally put Houston down, to send the Good Guys to the National League Championship Series against the Mets. The Good Guys were lucky, in that the series did not start until Wednesday, giving the team time to rest, and Kate Hudson an opportunity to be the Game One starter.
Game One of the National League Championship Series took place on Wednesday night, at Good Guy Stadium. Kate Hudson got the ball, against the Mets Pedro Martinez. Both were masterful, allowing only one run each through seven innings. In the eighth, Amanda Bynes put the Mets out without incident. In the bottom half, Mitch came up, and launched a homer, to give Paradise the lead. In the ninth, Hilary Duff got into, and out of, trouble, striking out the Mets David Wright with a man in scoring position, to preserve a nail biting, 2-1, opening game win. Gil Bellows was the starter for Game Two, against the Mets Tom Glavine. Neither pitcher was as sharp as the Hudson-Pedro matchup, as Glavine allowed three runs in six innings, and so did Bellows. With the game tied, in the seventh, the Good Guys pushed across a run, and then got another in the eighth. It was 5-3 Good Guys in the ninth, when Duff had another adventerous ninth inning, but put the Mets down, to put the Good Guys halfway to the World Series.
On Friday, the teams rested, and flew to New York, where Game Three would be played on Saturday night. Charlize was the starter. The Good Guys got things off to a flying start in Game Three, scoring two first inning runs. The Mets got it right back, and then some, gaining a 5-2 lead by the sixth. They were never really threatened, as the Met bullpen held Paradise in check, for a 5-2 win, the Mets first of the series. Kate Hudson would pitch Game Four for Paradise, matched up with Martinez, in a rematch of Game One. This time, neither pitcher was quite as overpowering, as Kate allowed three runs into the seventh, and Pedro allowed three runs over six innings. The game moved to the eighth, tied, 3-3, when Amanda Bynes served up a long homer to Carlos Delgado, which was all the Mets needed to tie the series, with a 4-3 win. Now, the two game to none lead was gone, the pressure was on the Good Guys again, in spite of the fact, that, even if they lost Game Five, they would have two chances at home to win the series. With the series tied, two games all, Glavine and Bellows hooked up for Game Five. Neither pitcher allowed much of anything, as Glavine gave up one hit over seven innings, and Bellows two hits over eight innings. The score was tied, in the ninth, when, with Met closer Billy Wagner pitching, an error was committed behind him, that was followed by a bloop hit, and an infield hit, that gave Paradise a run. The Mets threatened in the bottom of the ninth, but, with the bases loaded, Carlos Beltran sent Mitch back to the wall, to snare a drive, that perserved a 1-0 Good Guy win, and sent them home, to hopefully finish the Mets, on Wednesday night.
After an off day on Tuesday, Good Guy Stadium was bedlam on Wednesday night, 52, 000 strong. Charlize was the starter, as Sniderman hoped to win Game Six, and save Kate for Game One of the World Series. What everyone had hoped would be a champange celebration, turned ugly early on, as Charlize had absolutely nothing, allowing the Mets to score six runs in the first inning, resulting in a chorus of boos. The final score was an ugly 10-4. Now the series was tied, 3-3, with a deciding Game Seven on Thursday night. Sniderman, usually mild mannered, ripped his team big time in the postgame clubhouse:" You all ought to be ashamed of yourselves! That was a disgraceful effort! You fuckers treated that game like a meaningless spring training game, instead of a game that would send you to a World Series! Now, Kate has to pitch tomorrow night, and I had better see a better effort from all of you, or else. If you do go down, go down like the team with heart that everyone knows you are!" Sniderman shouted, furious at his team.
On Thursday night, Kate Hudson had the ball, for the deciding game of the National League Championship Series. Pedro Martinez started for the Mets. After the Mets nicked Kate for a run in the first, the Good Guys got it right back in the bottom half. The game moved along, 1-1, until the seventh, when the Mets got a run. It was 2-1, Mets, in the eighth, when Met ace closer Billy Wagner, came in, to try and put the Good Guys down. A walk, a hit, and an error, tied the game. Then, with two out, and no one on, Wagner got a pitch just a bit up, and center fielder Ed Burns crushed it over the center field wall, to give Paradise the lead! Hilary Duff came in for the ninth, to try and get the three outs, that would send the Good Guys to another World Series. A ground ball was followed by a strikeout. Then, after a walk, the dangerous Carlos Delgado was up. He hit a long fly to right field. At first, the crowd held it's breath, not sure if the park would hold it, but Mitch yelled:"I got it!", caught the ball, dropped to his knees, and the Good Guys were the National League Champions! The crowd was absolute bedlam, and the team mobbed Duff at mid field, engaging in a racous celebration. In the champange soaked clubhouse, everyone knew they had a mountain to climb, as they would face the Yankees again, as a tired team, but, for that moment, they wanted to savor victory.
On Friday, the very tired Good Guy ballclub, boarded the plane to Kennedy Airport in New York, to face the Yankees. After a light workout at the stadium, everyone retired to their hotel rooms, to rest up for Game One on Saturday night. The Yankees, who had finished the American League Series early, would have six days of rest going into the series, as opposed to the Good Guys one. Between that, and the home field advantage, most experts predicted a Yankee victory in the Series. The Good Guys, however, dismissed that:" Sure, we respect em like hell, who wouldnt, with as many times as we've played them, but, games arent played on paper. All we can do is to do our best" Sniderman said.
Gil Bellows, not the Good Guys best choice, would have the ball for Game One. Due to the Thursday completion of the series, Kate would not be able to pitch until Game Three in Paradise, and could only start two times in the series. Bellows would face off against the Yankees Randy Johnson. Gil did a credible job, allowing only two runs in six innings, but Johnson was better, allowing just one run through eight, and combining with Yankee closer Mariano Rivera, on a 2-1 Yankee win, to draw first blood. Charlize would get the ball in Game Two, against the Yankees Chin Min Wang. Once again, the Good Guys got an excellent pitching performance, as Charlize allowed but one run over seven innings. Wang, however, was magnificent, permitting no runs, and only two hits, through eight, as Rivera came on again, and closed the Good Guys down, 1-0, for a Yankees two game to none lead.
An off day on Monday, allowed the Good Guys a day to rest. Down two games to none, they knew they needed to win two of three games in Paradise, or it would be over. Privately the team wanted a sweep, but, first things first, they needed to win one game. That game was Game Three of the series on Tuesday night. Kate Hudson opposed the Yankees Mike Mussina. The Good Guys struck early, scoring three runs off Mussina in the first. The well rested Kate was brilliant, allowing but one run into the ninth, and combining with Hilary Duff, as the Good Guys got their first series win, 3-1. Gil Bellows, who had pitched well in a loss in Game One, had the ball again for Game Four, against Randy Johnson again. He was masterful, allowing but two hits over seven innings, as the Good Guys scored two times off Johnson in the second, and hung on, for a 2-1 win, to tie the series at two games all. Charlize Theron took on Chin Min Wang in Game Five. Wang was touched for three runs in six innings, as the Good Guys built a 3-1 lead. In the eighth, leading by two runs, sensing a chance to take the series lead, Sniderman brought in Hilary Duff to try and get six outs, and send the Good Guys back to New York, with the lead. A strikeout was followed by a walk, and a bloop hit. With two outs, and two strikes, Duff threw a hard fastball at the knees, to Jason Giambi, who swung hard, and the ball shot like a rocket, to left center, and over the wall, for a 4-3 Yankee lead. A screaming crowd was deathly quiet then, as the Good Guys had just blown a chance to finish off the game, and grab the series lead. Mariano Rivera came in for the eighth, and put the Good Guys out. In the ninth, Paradise got two men on, but center fielder Johnny Damon, caught a sinking line drive, to finish off an excruicating 4-3 Good Guy loss, that would result in them boarding the plane, facing elimination on Saturday night.
Although Good Guy ace Kate Hudson had the ball on Saturday night, the atmosphere was still doom and gloom, as the team needed to win Games Six and Seven in New York, to bring home a championship. All Kate could do was give her best in Game Six, and let the chips fall where they may. A racous Yankee crowd greeted the Good Guys in Game Six in the Bronx, wanting their Yankee heroes to finish the Good Guys, and end a year of frustration. After two scoreless innings, the Yankees pieced together several singles, and a double in the third, good for three runs. Paradise, down 3-0, scored one run in the sixth, and another in the eighth. Against closer Rivera in the ninth, Paradise put two men on base, but then, Mitch hit a lazy fly ball to right field, that was caught, as the Good Guys quest for a title, came up short in the Bronx. It had been a wild ride in the postseason, and now, the team would fly 1200 miles back to Paradise, without a championship. The clubhouse, of course, was deathly quiet, as Mitch spoke for the team:" Of course it's frustrating. I congratulate the Yankees. They had something to prove, after what we did to them last year. As for us, if we had won Game Five in Paradise, who knows. That game killed us. Hindsight is retrospect, but maybe all the effort we had to give in taking Houston and the Mets to the limit, finally caught up with us. I accept the National League title, tip my hat to the Yankees, and hope to be back in the Series next year, and emerge as a world champion." Mitch said.
In the meantime, the team held it's last tickle party of the year, on Sunday night, after returning to Paradise, before everyone scattered for the winter. The featured lee would be a cute and petite sales assistant for the Good Guys, who took fan polls for the team. The sales assistant was tied hands and feet to the bed, in a bra and panties, in the middle of the fetish club. Catcher Barney began the tickle on the assistant's neck with fingers, as her head shifted from side to side, and the giggles began:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Moving down, second baseman Russell was next, tickling the fan polls girl on her underarms, sides, ribs, and belly with fingers, as she shrieked:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEE! NOOOO! Working down, third baseman Michael was the next ler, tickling the fan polls girl on her hips, inner thighs, and knees with fingers, causing more shrieking, and her legs to buck:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHEE! Finally, Mitch got to his favorite spot, the soles of the fan poll girl's feet. He attacked her feet with fingers, feathers, ice, and an electric toothbrush over her soles and toes. The fan polls girl went beserk, she wiggled her toes every which way, and squealed with laughter, begging for mercy:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHE! OMG PLEASE NO MORE TICKLE! I GIVE UP! NOOOOOOO! HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Finally, the tickle stopped, and the poll girl was untied.
So, it had been a long and exhausting October, that had ended in disappointment. Now came the long winter. Yes, the season hadnt ended as the team had wished, but there was always next year, next year for the Tickle Team From Paradise Island.

The End

Shoot, dissapointment in the end there. I thought they might hang on and pull it out. At least this will give Mitch and Naomi a chance to work on things without the constant travel or home games. I look forward to the start of another season after this very controversial and well written one.

HappyD

Thank you, happy, your praise is appreciated as always. I decided that with them winning the year before, and all the trouble, that the team should succumb this time. It was a rough season.
As you know, stay tuned. I will be out all day tomorrow, but will start on the beginning of a new season on Thursday.

Mitch
