The Good Guys finished the regular season on a high note, ready and waiting to make amends for their setback of the year before. They couldnt wait to get to October, and now, here they were, with the opportunity to bring home the ultimate.
The National League Division Series began on a Tuesday in Paradise, against Philadelphia. Kate Hudson, of course, was on the mound, and she pitched very well, allowing but three hits, as the offense hit three homers, in a 5-2 win. Gil Bellows took his turn on Wednesday afternoon, and he, too, came through with a fine performance, allowing no runs in eight innings, of a 6-1 win, to take a two game to none lead in the series.
After an off day on Thursday, the teams flew to Philadelphia for Game Three. Charlize Theron was the starter. She pitched well, but three Good Guy errors, allowed three unearned runs, and resulted in a 3-2 defeat. Kate Hudson had the ball again in Game Four on Saturday night, and finished off the series in fine fashion. The Good Guys got five early runs, and Kate was never threatened, as the Good Guys came away with a 5-0 win, to finish the series.
The Paradise Islanders flew home that night, with three days to rest before the National League Championship Series, against the Mets, on Tuesday night. Gil Bellows was the starter. He allowed two runs, but, luckily, the Good Guy offense scored four for him, and the bullpen did the rest, to draw first blood, with a 4-2 win. Charlize Theron took the ball on Wednesday night, and she performed much better than her Game Three Division Series start in New York, allowing but one run, in six innings, of a 5-1 win, to take a two game to none lead.
On Thursday the teams flew to New York on the off day, with Game Three scheduled for Friday night, with Kate Hudson on the mound. After two fantastic outings in the division series, Kate was just ordinary, as she allowed four runs, in seven innings of work, of an eventual 5-4 setback. Gil Bellows had the ball again for Game Four. He wasnt as sharp this time, as he gave up three runs in six innings, but, tied, 3-3, in the sixth, the Good Guys erupted for three runs, and then, the bullpen made it stand up, in a 6-4 win, to put the Good Guys one win from the World Series. With a three game to one lead, Sniderman elected to use Neve Campbell, to try and finish the series off, on Sunday night, figuring he had two games in Paradise to close the Mets out if needed. Using Campbell was a mistake, as she got lit up, allowing five runs in the opening inning. The Good Guys nearly came back, making the score close, and tying the game in the eighth, much to the dismay of the Shea Stadium crowd. The Mets prevailed, however, as Carlos Delgado ripped an eighth inning homer off Naomi, with a man on, to win it for New York, 7-5, and send the series back to Paradise.
A racous crowd of better than 50,000 was on hand on Tuesday in Paradise, for Game Six of the NLCS. Kate Hudson was the starter. This time, Kate held the Mets fairly in check, allowing three runs, on five hits, and striking out eight, on only three days rest. In the seventh, tied, 3-3, the Good Guys hit back to back homers. Bynes, Jacinda Barrett, and Rachel Ray, got the Good Guys through the eighth. In the ninth, Hilary Duff came on. A bloop hit, was followed by an out, a walk, and another out. With two men on, the dangerous Carlos Beltran came to the plate, and hit a fly ball to center field, that at first looked like it might be trouble. Ed Burns, however, camped under it, and put it away, and the Good Guys were National League Champions, and on their way to the World Series, again! The celebration in the clubhouse was a very happy one, yet reserved, because, the team knew, they had one more mile to go, before letting loose.
The Good Guys had three days to rest, before starting the World Series, against, who else? The Yankees. In recent years, it looked like those two teams owned the October stage, and, this time, it was the Good Guys who were looking to avenge a difficult loss, the year before.
On Saturday night, 60,000 plus, gathered on a full, moonlit, October evening, at Good Guy Stadium, for Game One of the World Series. Kate Hudson opposed Yankee starter Chin Min Wang. Both were very good, and the game was tied, 2-2, after six. In the seventh, the Good Guys got two runs. Amanda Bynes marched through the eighth, and, in the bottom half, the Good Guys got an insurance run. In the ninth, Hilary Duff gave up a leadoff homer, and then a walk. After that, she had a strikeout, a groundout, and a pop up, to save the day, and a 5-3 win, that drew first blood.
Sunday night was Game Two, Gil Bellows, and Mike Mussina, were the starters. It was a weird evening weatherwise. There were broken clouds, it was very humid, and there was lightning flashing off in the distance, but, the umps elected to play. Both Mussina and Bellows allowed early runs, and then, things settled down. With the game tied, 1-1, after five, the Yankees got a run in their half of the sixth, and the Good Guys answered with one in their half. After the Yankees took the lead again, the Good Guys tied it in the seventh, and, following a scoreless Yankee eighth, the teams went to the bottom of the eighth, tied, at three. After two out, Mitch came up, and drove a long, majestic, homer, into the right field bullpen, to give the Good Guys the lead. The crowd was bedlam. In the ninth, Hilary Duff was brought in again, to try and close the game, and take command of the series. A walk was followed by two outs. Then, Yankee slugger Gary Sheffield was due up, and he hammered a Duff pitch, to right field. Mitch tracked it, back, and back, and still back. It looked like heartbreak, and, then, with his back to the wall, Mitch caught the ball, to end a 4-3 win, and take a two game to none lead. The series was far from over, but the Good Guys had dodged a bullet, and come away with a big win.
After a travel day on Monday, the teams met at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night, for Game Three. Charlize Theron was on the mound. The Yankees, fired up, drove Charlize from the box, with a nightmarish five run inning. The Good Guys brought in the pen, who shut the Yankees down cold, as the Good Guys began scoring runs. After tying the score, the Good Guys overtook the Yanks. In the ninth, the Yankees tied the game, on a homer, off Duff, and finally won it in the eleventh, on another homer, 7-6, for their first win of the series.
Game Four was Wednesday night, with Kate Hudson, matched against Wang, her Game One opponent. Both pitchers were magnificent, allowing but one run each, into the seventh. In the seventh, tied, 1-1, the Yankee bullpen was brought in. A walk, and a hit by pitch, were followed by a ringing Mitch two run double, to give the Good Guys the lead. Paradise extended their lead, to 5-1, in the ninth. Naomi gave up one run in the ninth, and, the Yankees put two men on, and Duff couldnt get the final out, but, Bynes did, inducing a shallow fly ball to Ed Burns, for the last out, of a 5-2 win, that put Paradise one win from the ultimate, with three chances to win one game, and close out the Yankees.
Bellows and Mussina matched up again for Game Five, with the Yankees facing elimination. Once again, the Yankees launched a fearsome attack, as they scored three early runs off Bellows. They extended their lead, as the Good Guys got a couple of runs. In the ninth, with a man on, Mitch hit a homer off Yankee closer Rivera, to bring the Good Guys within one. That was as close as they would get, as Rivera got the outs he needed, for a 5-4 Yankee win, to send the series back to Paradise.
Game Six, Saturday night, Paradise Island, crystal clear skies, 78 degrees, no rain expected, low humidity Charlize Theron would oppose Randy Johnson. The Good Guys knew they had two chances to win, but didnt want to go to Game Seven, they wanted to finish the Yankees right then and there. Both pitchers were very good, as they dueled each other, to a scoreless tie, into the seventh. At that point, they both departed, in favor of the bullpens. In the bottom half, the Good Guys clawed out a run, only to give it right back, as Bynes allowed an eighth inning homer, to tie the game. In the bottom half, Center Fielder Burns came up, and hit a long fly ball, that barely trickled over the fence, for a 2-1 Good Guys lead. The crowd was going ballistic, as they were three outs from the ultimate. Then, a long double, was followed by an error, to give Paradise a 3-1 edge. In the ninth, Hilary Duff came on, with the crowd at fever pitch, and promptly allowed a leadoff homer, to quiet everyone. A pop up, was followed by a groundout. Two outs, power hitter due up, Duff threw, and a long fly ball was hit, but, it was hit to the long part of the ballpark, nowhere near far enough to go out. Ed Burns tracked the ball, caught it, dropped to one knee, and the Good Guys had done it, a 3-2, Game Six, win, over the Yankees, and they were the World Champions! The crowd was bedlam, as the euphoric Good Guys gathered at mid field, in a pile of hugs, kisses, laughter, and tears. Once again, they had rebounded, from a heart wrenching loss, and rebounded, for the ultimate.
After the celebration on the field, the Good Guys returned to their clubhouse, where, they accepted the trophy, sprayed champange, and let loose. They were genuninely thrilled, and glad that they didnt have to go to Game Seven:" Once again, we stood up. The Yankees are the best, and we beat the best. We seem to have this October stage that we share with them. This time, the ball came out in our favor, but, I congratulate them, and thank them. It was a great series, and they played their hearts out.
The very tired ballclub didnt do very much the rest of Saturday night, as they had a postgame meal, and went to bed. Two days later, on Monday, they had the victory parade, and speeches, with the commissioner, mayor, and Governor of the Bahamas. Everyone was euphoric, yet still a bit tired, and looking forward to a restful winter.
That night, the team held its last tickle party of the year. There were many featured lees. Among them, were Charlize Theron, the winner of Game Six. She was tied hands and feet to the bed, in the middle of the fetish club. Second baseman Russell began the tickle on her neck with fingers, as the giggles began, and her head began to shift:HHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! NO! Working down, Center Fielder Burns was next, tickling Charlize on her underarms, sides, ribs, and belly with fingers, as she squealed:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Working down, Left Fielder Dawson was the next tickler, tickling Charlize on her hips, inner thighs, and knees with fingers, causing her legs and knees to buck:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Finally, Mitch got to the soles of Charlize's feet, attacking them with his fingers, two feathers, ice, and an electric toothbrush, over her soles and toes. Charlize went beserk, wiggling her toes every which way, and squealing with laughter, begging for mercy:HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! OMG PLEASE NO MORE! I GIVE UP! NOOOO! HEHEHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Finally, the tickle ended, and Charlize was untied.
So, it had been a happy ending to the season for the Good Guys, and now came a hopefully restful winter. Yes, the season had ended proudly for the Tickle Champions Of Paradise Island.

The End

Good for the Good Guys. Coming back to take the title and going full steam ahead. Should be an interesting winter too, have to see how Mitch and Naomi manage all the time they'll be together. Another great one and I look forward to the next.

HappyD

Thank you, happy, your praise is, as always, appreciated. It is good to see them win it all again, now, they can have a celebratory winter, instead of one of disappointment.
