Tickling fetish - Do you choose it or does it choose you ?



I believe it's different with every person. With me, something obviously happened to me when I was a little kid that made me interested in something which led to something else which led to tickling.

My kink evolved. It didn't start with tickling.
 
Oh i definately chose it because as a kid i was constantly tickled and as i grew older i realized girls are ticklish too and the rest is history :woot2:
 
I think that if you choose to recognize that you love tickling and don't try to ignore it then you have chosen it. I bet there are people out there though who enjoy tickling but choose to suppress it. So I feel that when it comes to the actual "fetish" it's a choice.
 
I didn't choose it; I've had it since I can remember (which is back to age 4). :D
 
For me it was no more a choice than my height. It is my choice to act on it.
 
A little bit of both.

Being young and impressionable probably added to my 'choosing it', I suppose.

But had I never seen tickle clips in the mainstream or seen/been tickled in RL, then whose to say I'd ever develope an interest?

It depends on the person, but it's usually a little of both.

The only difference between then and now is that it's a clear-cut conscience choice.
 
I can't remember a time when I wasn't interesed in tickling. I remember being 3 or 4 years old, at my grandparents house, reading (yes I read when I was 3 and 4 years old - i haz a smart :D ) that Grover and Everything in the World Museum book. I spent so much time on the Tickle Room page, that it eventually just fell open to that page naturally LOL

So yeah...I think it chose me...like sarah said..I choose to act on it.
 
I think its a mixture of the both. I have always had the fetish since I was very young. I knew it was there and I couldn't do anything about it. However it is my choice to accept the fetish and act upon it. I love my tickling fetish. It is one of my favourite fetishes out of the 6 that I have. It is awesome and I wouldn't swap it for the world.

Neither. I did not choose to have a tickling fetish, and my fetish, being a description of my sexuality and as such being incapable of such concious constructs as "choice", did not choose me.

We didn't choose each other, we're both stuck with each other.

i was like....7....i think.
i think that it is something that chooses you before you are born and it gets awakened as your get older.......

I disagree. Michael (Homer28) didn't feel one way or another about tickling before he met me. Once he met me and discovered tickling could have a deeper meaning than just flirting or playfulness, he CHOSE to embrace it and let himself delve into it. So I think some people can choose it -- just most of us are hard-wired.
 
It definately chose me, I always was unusually fascinated in tickling, long before I had any notions about sexuality.

But if it hadn't, I would have chosen it, because it's just ridiculously too fun to use tickling against someone who is powerless to stop laughing.

With me I think I choose tickling as a fetish for me. When I was a kid I loved watching older couples when the boyfriend was tickling his girlfriend or when a husband was tickling his wife. I guess that is also why I enjoy tickling other guys wives or girlfriends with them or while they watched me tickle their significant other. I don't know what the reason is but it make sense to me. I guess not only do I enjoy tickling I also like to watch ladies be tickled by their boyfriend or husband so I guess I have some voyer in me too. I just love to see a lady laugh uncontrolably while she is tickled by me or anyone else.

Keep in mind, his enjoyment from tickling probably stems from his knowledge of how much you love it. He shares it with you. Would he have fun tickling some random girl? I'd guess that just because he's into tickling now, and because of you, he doesn't have a tickling fetish. Embracing the practice of tickling and having a tickling fetish are two different things.

All the limited research that's gone in to discovering the causes for sexual deviances have concluded that sexuality is either innate, or developed (the same way that a trauamtic experience might develop a fear of spiders, for example). You hear stories of people changing their sexual orientation as an argument to this idea... that's almost always a matter of severe denial and repression.

Though I know you don't agree from previous threads.

This would be an example of development... associations in childhood influencing sexuality. It's really not a choice.

I mean, at what point did all the vanillas choose not to have a fetish?

Research aside, I find it hard to believe that people can alter their sexuality. All the four year olds suddenly decide what they want to find sexy when they grow up? If sexuality is a choice, why can't I get rid of my fetish?

It's true that I was his doorway into the tickling fetish, and he does enjoy tickling me because I enjoy being tickled, but he also wants to see what its like to tickle other lees. The entire concept is exciting to him, and he's excited to explore it.

Most lers enjoy tickling because the lee is enjoying him/herself. That doesn't mean they don't have the fetish. It just means part of what they enjoy about it is bringing joy to someone else.
