Normally I'd be opposed to that idea seeing as how I pretty much live there but after hearing about this...I think I'm ready to take one for the team.
 
Well sure they are making a remake. Why not? After all they don't need acting anymore because they can computer generate what they need to cover bad acting and no imagination. Soooooooooo.............after this let's remake Willy Wonka and the ...no, wait...un King Ko......uh, no......um ......I got it!!! Let's fuck up another classic! 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.

I'm not a fan of remakes in general. So I just don't watch them, no bigs. :p

Please tell me you're fucking joking. If this shit is true, I think I'm finally going to boycott the American film industry once and for all (after threatening to do so more than several times over the past few years) and watch nothing but old movies for the rest of my life.
 
Shia Labouff as Marty is allot better then Chris Pine as Kirk. At least Shia proved he could act some in that Indiana Jones movie. Just so long as Megan Fox isn't playing his Mom or Girl friend I think it will be ok. It's not just a matter of who they cast in one or two rolls, but how well the entire cast works together, and how true they are to the original concept.

If Fox and/or Lloyd make a cameo at least would that make you happy?

They should remake Braveheart with some factual content rather than bullshit and the Passion of the christ but have jesus call pontius pilot "sugar tits"

They are? Since when? I haven't seen to many remakes of a movie that was better then the original. The only one that was as good was psycho, and that's because it was a frame by frame remake. It's never better, the actors are never as good, people almost always fuck up the plot.

The only exception might be the remake of "The Hills Have Eyes" but that had more to do with the FX and better quality of equipment they have now. Shia is a pretty decent actor, and he might be able to match Fox in the Marty roll, but nobody will match up with Lloyd as Doc Brown.

Did the same thing to Star Trek (though it wasn't an actual remake so much as a cluster fuck revamp). They hired a buntch of talentless actors (except Karl Urban who nailed the McCoy role dead on). Worst of all the entire core cast will be back for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Krap. 2.5 hours of Mr. Pine doing a poor man's Zack Morris while sitting on William Shatner's throne. What a load of... KRAP... KRAP... KRAP!!!

Okay, you just described the only version of this movie that I would watch. :woot2: That would elevate it to 'so bad it's good' territory.
 
I liked J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. :(

I agree that most of Hollywood's current crop of films can go screw themselves, though.

At least there's Pixar...
 
If this is true, then it's too hard for me to properly expressed how mad this makes me.

The best way I can summarize my anger, without posting an entire page of expletives is:

-It angers me that they even CONSIDER remaking such a classic movie.

-I am enraged by the casting.

-It infuriates me that people will actually see this and that this remake will still make an upwards of $100 mil (stay classy, America!)

-And there is no word for the rage I will feel when there will be people who actually think, say and believe 'it's not that bad' or even worse: 'it's better than the original'!

Once again, I am praying that 2012 proves to be the end of the world.

I've found very well done also "the italian job", with Mark Whalberg and Charlize what-a-p***y Theron.

What about Chris Nolan's Batman franchise reboot? I thought 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight' were better than the 4 films of the late 80's and 90's.

I'm having trouble thinking of anything else, honestly.
 
The Planet of the Apes remake was a masterpiece.

Thank God Lindsay Lohan brought back Herbie and fully loaded, no less!

We totally needed a Karate Kid remake, otherwise we wouldn't get to see Jackie Chan try to act serious or be blessed with the future star that is Jaden Smith (I'm so glad that a nobody kid actor gets his shot; he truly serves as an inspiration for every kid with really rich parents).

The new Invasion of the Body Snatchers put the old to shame.

Disturbia was BETTER than Rear Window, screw that Hitchcock guy!

For that matter, find me one person who didn't LOVE the new Psycho!
 
I've never seen la takedown but someone told me that heat is technically a remake of that so that would qualify if true.

I can think of a few good ones that have been remade specifically from foreign language films. Like funny games, the departed which I preferred to infernal affairs and Christopher nolans insomnia.

I would actually trust Nolan to remake almost anything, everyone of his films, the following, memento, prestige have been excellent and I can't wait for inception.
