I'm watching Goldeneye (in my opinion one of the best Bond movies, not to mention arguably the greatest video game of all time) so I got to thinking ...

What's everybody's favorite Bond movie, and also who is your favorite bond? The Best Bond Girl/Villain?

Sean Connery's the classic ... Pierce Brosnan is second best, but aside from Goldeneye, I don't think any of his Bond movies are that memorable ...

I thought the best Bond movie was the newest one, Casino Royale. Point blank. Daniel Craig was awesome. Goldeneye is great ... Goldfinger is classic ... The Man With The Golden Gun (some sort of pattern is developing here hahaha).

Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) all the way back in 1962's Dr. No was a great bond girl ... and probably Christopher Lee as Scaramanga in man with the golden gun is the sweetest villain.

Your thoughts?

What're all your thoughts?

Favorite villians....OddJob, Pussey Galore, H. Blofeld

Favorite Bond.....Sean Connery

The Spy Who Loved Me.

I just want the Lotus Espirt Turbo submarine!

You only Live Twice is my favourite Bond flick.

By default, that makes Sean Connery my favourite Bond.

Connery's best flick: Thunderball/Goldfinger toss-up

Moore's: The Spy who Loved Me

Brosnan: Goldeneye

Best overall movie: Thunderball/Goldfinger toss-up

Best Bond: Connery (He could give funny or cool dialogue AND take a punch)

Best Bond girl: Ursula Andress(Dr. No)/ Claudine Auger(Thunderball) toss-up

Best Bond Villain: Ernst Stavro Blofeld (You Only Live Twice and/or Diamonds are Forever)

As for Craig, the verdict is still out on him, IMO. One good Bond movie doesn't make him the best yet, but there's still time.

P.S. The Dalton and Lazenby movies NEVER happened...:manicd:

Goldeneye is a really underrated Bond movie. It's fantastic, with a great twist (in having Sean Bean as the bad guy).

My favourite Bond film is Casino Royale. I'm a big fna of the books and just felt that this grittier, more serious Bond was fantastic (although, still fairly different from the Bond of the books). It was a great film and it was just shot of adrenaline that the dying franchise needed.

I honestly don't have a favourite Bond, though. I actually see them all as equal but different. They were all great in the roles they played, and those roled changed with each film and era that they were in. For example, Roger Moore was very camp, but he was great fun to watch and fit in well with the films he was in. Even Lazenby, who everyone seems to hate, fit in really well.

Best Bond girl for me is Daniela Bianchi from "From Russia With Love". There was something about her "innocent" character that had me hooked.

And as for villain, it has to be the Dr Evil wannabe, Ernst Stavro Blowfeld. He was brilliant, paricuarly the Donald Pleasance version.

Goldfinger (1964)

Best Bond girl to get painted gold: Shirley Eaton, who played Jill Masterson

Best Quote:
James Bond: Do you expect me to talk?
Auric Goldfinger: No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die.

For Your Eyes Only and Goldeneye (The only bond movie I own)

Bond girl: Barbara Bach

I really was impressed by Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. Its just too early for me that to anoint him as a better bond than Sean Connery. Connery to this point is the best Bond and its not close. He was cool, suave, merciless, brutally violent, and not as hung up on gadgets as later Bonds like Moore and Brosnan. But Craig's got a shot to be right in the discussion.

Favorite Bond Villain: Alec Trevelyan (Goldeneye).

Favorite Bond Movie: From Russia with Love

Cy-Mig - I don't think that all the Dalton movies were terrible, License to Kill was pretty alright. Hahaha, normally you don't rep movies by saying they are "pretty alright" but Robert Davi as Franz Sanchez was pretty cool, and Benicio Del Toro played a pretty cool lackey.

Yeah, I know I just like bustin chops and they're kinda easy targets.

Dalton was... okay... I guess...

But Lazenby...

And personally I think Moonraker and The World is Not Enough are two of the worst Bond flicks...

Bond's got absolutely nothing on McBain anyway

Two days away from retirement ... Mendozaaaahhhhhh

Damn right!

Only McBain can fight off the Commie-Nazi's while delivering UNICEF pennies to orphans!:manicd:

Meet George Lazenby in NYC

I figured this could go here in case anyone is interested...

George Lazenby was known for playing James Bond only once in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. He also is to date the only person of non-British descent to play Bond as he is Australian.

He is making a special appearance here in November http://www.bigapplecon.com/

To date, I've been too lazy to sit down and watch Craig in Casino Royale. Promise y'all I will get to it. Loved Goldeneye. By default, that makes it my favorite Bond movie, and I suppose Brosnan my favorite Bond.

My bad if it's weird to ressurect such an old threadbut if I was to reccomend aBond film to someone who had never seen one I'd tell them go watch The Spy Who Loved Me or Goldeneye if they wanted a traditional Bond outing with some of the more over the top elements and if they wanted something a bit more grounded either From Russia With Love or Casino Royale.

I'm assuming you mean the Daniel Craig "Casino Royale"....not the horrible Peter Sellers version! :p

My favorite has always been "Thunderball". I'm not a fan of the Roger Moore stuff. Not a huge James Bond guy, actually. I like the first half of "Dr. No", the second half gets a little dopey, once Ursula Andress comes into the movie.
Haven't seen "Goldfinger" in years, that very well might supplant "Thunderball", but that's my "go-to" Bond flick.

I never saw the 1960's spoof, the 1954 adaptation starring Barrt Nelson or the whole of Never Say Never Again.
Also it was weird to think the last decade only saw 2 Bond films released.

As much as I like the Bond films, well up until after Goldeneye...

They never seem to get the balance right with those films.

They can't seem to decide do we want it dark or commercial.

Terence Young Imo is one the best Bond Directors, he directed Dr no, From Russia With Love and sadly his last one Thunderball. Not only did this man instruct Sean on how to act as Bond, he also made Sean's best films imo.

Also of course the producers were never really able to conclude the demise of Spectre. Blofeld was meant to return in the spy who loved me, but they had to change it to Stromberg. If you look at the way Stromberg behaves, his Atlantis lair, his giant swallowing Liparus ship, you can see that the part was originally for Blofield. That would of certainly made for a much different film....

On the subject of the spy who loved me director, Lewis Gilbert directs the same film 3 times!

I felt sorry forDaniel Craig because I really like him in the role and he's had two of the best films in the series but also two of the weakest.
And when watching OHMSS I was already apprehensive knowing Tracy and the originally intended revenge aspect of Diamonds Are Forever were scrapped.
