Some days, I enjoy being ignorant! (I HAVE A BLENDER!)

Were it not for ignorance, when would I be able to take joy in realizing things?

I have just purchased my first blender. It has a 750 watt motor. You know what turns to soup in that thing when you hit the puree button?

    FRIGGIN' ANYTHING.

Why didn't I realize this earlier, and why didn't it dawn on me just how essential this piece of equipment is?

Being the soup-freak that I am, this is going to be sooo awesome... It is this bachelor's new best friend. Tonight, I made soup out of out two cans of stewed/diced tomatoes and a can of baked beans that were just languishing in my cupboard, and it was fantastic! Add some breadsticks, a few herbs and spices and a little grated cheese, and you've really got something there...

Who knows what I'll make into soup next...?

A blender once saved my life in my second year at Uni. True story.

They are awesome for making soup - try putting bacon, potato and leek in the blender.

Immersion blenders are where it's at. Run it under a tap, and it's clean. Bam.

I'm going to buy one too. But mostly for serving alcoholic beverages.

You should check out this guy who sells blenders and as a form of promotion put some videos on the web ("can I blend it" or something) in which he blends things that are not supposed to be blended
    Hurray for boobies!

This is one of my favorite recipes.

    Cream of Tomato Soup

2 (15-ounce) containers, chicken or vegetable stock/broth (preferred brand: Kitchen Basics)

1 (28-ounce) can concentrated crushed tomatoes

1 cup heavy cream (if you're health conscious you can use half & half instead)

    Coarse salt and black pepper

Combine broth and tomatoes in a medium saucepan over moderate heat. When soup bubbles, stir in heavy cream and reduce heat to low. Season with a little salt and pepper and simmer gently 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. With an immersion blender, puree soup. Enjoy!
    Think twice, post once.

Well, mine's got 3-4 pieces plus a gasket, and I like to be thorough with cleaning stuff like this -- but it's pretty easy, really.

Thanks, Penny! I'll definitely try that one... I LOVE TOMATOES.

But therein lies the beauty, doesn't it? Because there are no rules... It's culinary anarchy, my friend -- a veritable "Island of Doctor Cordon Bleu"! Imagine the taste possibilities... A thought comes to mind: a soup made of three parts steamed squash and one part raw... ...banana? Provocative, and yet, probably tame compared to what's possible and possibly good...

I shall have to ponder some more exotic possibilities... In the meantime, please post any more favorite recipes or bizarre hybrids you yourself have tried!

"What is essential is invisible to the eye..." The outrage! I'm being too philosophical about a blender, damn...! Alright, have fun with it.

They certainly are a lifesaver at times lol.

Don't forget the most essential food item to make with it.....smoothies!
In anime or manga, Japan being blown up by a nuclear attack is merely the English equivalent of "It was a dark and stormy night."
