Not that anyone cares but,

Take any whole number besides zero. If it's even, divide it by 2. If it's odd, triple it and add 1. Keep going. No matter what number you start with, you'll always reach 1. Nobody knows why. For that matter, nobody's proven it's true, but we can't find a case where it isn't.

This is called the Collatz conjecture.

It is not true that nobody cares about this. I know several experts in number theory who do care about it and want to prove it. :D
