Oh, for fuck's sake...

Yes, let us rally to free the poor little celebrity, Lindsay Lohan. So what if she was stupid enough to land herself behind bars in the first place? Laws don't apply to them there Hollywood types! Idiots.

Same thing she always does, Skippy. Makes a booboo and runs from the law.

A Facebook friend was talking about that too; he then provided a long list of this week's fallen soldiers (many of them Lindsay's age or younger) who probably deserve some recognition as well...

Far as I know, being a stupid little spoiled whore is not a crime. She should serve the sentence imposed by the court, then be released under whatever terms said court and the law call for. If she does not abide by these terms she should be arrested, charged and face the consequences of her actions.

You say that like she's the first celebrity to ever only spend a week or two in jail. Why are you surprised?

I think she needs help. The court should make it mandatory that part of her probation is getting that help. Just another child actor gone nuts. I sure hope she will clean up and fly right. She should serve the rest of her sentence though. She needs a lesson. We do not need another Hilton incident.

The so-called protesters strike me as members of the extreme end of the worship of the cult of celebrity. I met one when I was a sophomore in college, in fact. She genuinely believed that celebrities and other prominent personalities were more worthy of admiration than other people and that's why they should be elevated to a position of respect and adoration despite any perceived peripheral failings.
Being older now, I'd just roll my eyes and ignore her. Back then I got into an argument which culminated in my wondering aloud how someone like her could be allowed into one of the top 100 colleges in the US. Not really my proudest moment.
I also find it sad how often child actors go off the rails when they get older. I suppose it might have to do with the exploitation they experience at that age by overbearing parents resulting in self-destructive behavior. Though I find it encouraging when a former child actor pulls him or herself together or manages to stay grounded despite the attention lavished on them.
The Harry Potter actors seem to have handled things quite well as an example; it probably has to do with them having their acting carrying them naturally into adulthood.
