I am watching the movie Elvis (witch starred Kurt Russel as Elvis Presley), and there is a scene where he is performing and throws the tie from his Gold Lamae suit into the crowd. One girl catches it but it is pulled out of her hand by another fan. Elvis sees this, and tells the police officer to lift her up to the stage where he gives her a chain with a cross on it.
He was always doing stuff like that, but I thought that was pretty fucking great.

He was a very giving person. He gave away a lot of cars.
He tosses his belt from his Aloha from Hawaii jump suit into the crowed. I think if more people with money were like he was, there would probably be no poverty in the world

Elvis introduced the musical mainstream to rhythm and blues played like rhythm and blues and not like pablum-ified pop as was standard operating procedure in those days (listen to "Sh-Boom" by the Chords and the same song by The Crew Cuts and see what I mean by that).

Just got a new car and have my first Sirius ready radio. One of the first presets I programmed was channel 13 Elvis Radio. The very first song I heard was my all time favorite which is If I Can Dream.

Can't say it's my personal favorite, but it's a great song. That man had soul in his prime. His downhill slide was painfull to watch.

Did any of you see his Cirque Du Sole (or how ever you spell it) tribute show "Viva Elvis" in Las Vegas? If you ever have a chance, go see it. It is a true tribute to his life and you leave with a greaty appreciation for him. I'm 30, Elvis was before my time but his music is timeless. There is a video tribute to him when he is drafted, they show footage of him as he preped to serve his country and him talking about how he hopes his fans will understand that his country need him now. I brought tears to my eyes. Anybody in my family who has served in the armed forces (I did not btw) I have brought them tickets to this show as a gift in this case 2 uncles and my father and they all have texted me telling me how much they loved the this tribute mid show. I never knew much about Elvis but that show made me a fan. See it if you ever get to Vegas.
i just never got elvis...just really dont see the attraction...
I was going to go into a big thing about this, but simply put, Elvis Presley was the JFK of music, that is really the closest thing I can say to explain his impact on that industry. He changed the entire thing, and helped cross barriers. The fact that the man can have a #1 hit 25 or more years after he died should speak volumes.
Elvis is the biggest musical star of all time, bigger then Jackson, bigger then the Beatles, that's why he is the King.
In Closing... 68 Comeback Special...nuff said.

BlackestLily: It's like he's a peacock spreading his feathers to show off, but there's a shitty design on it that nobody likes but him.
BlackestLily: All we need is our own personal hot, confident, tall, muscular, dominant booty call. Skipadeedoodah: Truer words were never spoken, Wife. You're so in tune with my needs.
There was a story I heard on the radio, where someone(just a regular guy) was sitting next to Elvis on a plane back in the early 70s. The guy was admiring one of the huge rings Elvis was wearing, so he took it off and handed it to the guy!
The only thing about this story.....I couldn't see Elvis ever flying coach or first class. Or traveling without his entourage.

It is possible that Elvis had his entourage with him, or that the man telling the story wasn't really the recipiant of the ring. However I have heard stories of Elvis just handing his jewlery over to people just because they were looking at it.
