Huge Rain Storm On The Way For East Coast

Members on the East Coast may have heard about this, but, for those who may not have, there is a huge rain storm on the way, that is supposed to affect much of the East Coast from Florida northward. It is now a Tropical Storm in Florida, and is expected to drop heavy rain in it's path. Here in Lancaster, we are supposed to get doused with quote "Heavy Rain, and up to 20 mph winds" from tomorrow night, into the day on Thursday. My area has had a severe drought , which has been helped in the last day or so by some rain. This rain storm looks like a big one.

Hopefully, it can help the drought, without anyone losing power.

And without flooding! We need a good deal of rain to catch up. But, this will dump too much too fast. So, there are likely to be issues with that for those who get the heaviest rains.

I had heavy rain most of the way to my dad's today. A 4 hour drive when you're tired and sick is bad enough without half that drive being in heavy rain, thick fog and strong gusty winds. I was more tired when I got here than when I got up this morning after not sleeping! lol Ah well! We DO need the rain. So, bring it on, Mother Nature! I'll wear something I don't mind getting wet and go rake leaves in the rain on Thursday!

EDIT: And, it begins. TWC just reported that parts of 95 are already flooded in Florida. Should be a fun night for them! Careful down there, folks!

Ann, I'm sorry to hear about the heavy rain you had on the drive to your dad's.

You mentioned flooding. That is a good point. In Lancaster, they are expecting at least an inch of rain to fall tomorrow night, and then "significant rain", whatever that means, to fall during the day on Thursday. I have plans to see a friend on Thursday. Luckily, we are going to a movie theater just around the corner from my apartment, so hopefully, unless the rain is that bad, we should be able to go.

We do need rain, but this might be too much, too soon. It will be interesting to see how much rain actually does fall from this system.

Well, the latest forecast does not look good. They are expecting up to four inches of rain here, with flooding a likelihood.

Hopefully, my power will stay on.

Tomorrow: Rain showers in the morning will evolve into a more steady rain in the afternoon. High 74F. Winds SE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 70%. Rainfall near a half an inch.
Tomorrow night: Windy with periods of rain. Low 67F. Winds SSE at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 70%.

From TWC.com not to bad to be honest hopefully its like that for the rest of the state as well as East Coast .

Unhappy This is going to be a good N'easter.

Now they are saying five inches of rain. Woo hoo!

I'm supposed to go see Wall Street 2 tomorrow. Luckily, the movie theater, and the Ruby Tuesday I'd eat at with my friend, are literally down the street from my apartment. I can go. The question is, whether the road will be too flooded to drive.

As long as the electric stays on, bring on the rain!

That looks like it's going to be really good, Mitch. Enjoy it! I'm sure you can use the break.

As for the rain...4" expected here in Bingo. Glad I wrapped up some of my outdoor projects today! Not sure what the total is expected to be back home. But, the pump is already set up and ready to roll. Looks like the worst of the wind and rain will be tomorrow night there. Gotta time my drive home to come in behind it on Friday!

Thanks,. Ann. I hope to. You're right. I can use the break.

4 inches. Yikes. Not good. Hope your drive home is okay, Ann. Be safe, my friend.

I should be okay. One of the advantages of being a weather channel junkie is that I'll know what's happening where and can time my departure so I'm behind the system. It'll likely still be wet. But, I'll avoid the heavy rain and winds.

Thanks, Babbles. I love both the weather and sports.

It's absolutely teaming down rain here! They said we've had about two and a half inches since midnight. No thunder or lightning yet, but they said that could be coming. The latest forecast I heard said up to six inches of rain. Imagine if this was snow, there would be like five feet!

I'm in, and dry, and sick. If my power stays on, all will be fine!

It's been nasty up here today. Heavy rain (4" and still pouring), flooded roads, a bridge washed out, numerous accidents including a tractor trailer rollover I passed just after it happened. And the night is young yet. It's certainly a mess! I was soaked through to the skin several times today, running from the car to the house/nursing home...and I waited for it to let up a bit each time. lol When I got home for the last time, I just stood there in the driveway for a minute and enjoyed it. It fealt heavenly!

It looks like I'm still going to catch some nastiness on the way home. But, unless it's bad, I'll just take my time and plow through it. I need to go home and see my hubby!

I think a system that effects the entire eastern seaboard rates a thread. Just be glad you didn't have this crap coming back from the cruise! You'd be stuck in an airport somewhere like many are today/tonight.
