I will be interviewing the filmmakers very soon regarding the documentary "Tickled" for my own independent non-fetish, non-sexual media podcast "Mediatrocities" on The Underground Multiplex. My take will be as someone who is in the m/m tickling community--something that has not happened yet with any interviewers. I'm currently working out scheduling for the interview and will let you know when that takes place.
The documentary is excellent and very worth watching. It's been doing very well in its limited run so far, now held over twice here in Chicago.
This is not a documentary about tickling per se. I've read comments from people who, unbelievably, criticize the movie because they can't get their rocks off or because it's m/m tickling, so who cares?
This is a documentary about alleged intimidation, blackmail, legal threats, death threats, etc. perpetrated against people who don't follow the whims of "Jane OBrien Media" when "she" requires more m/m tickling videos from those who no longer wish to provide.
It's a documentary about such persons who decide to bully other people while exploiting a community of very nice, amiable men who have this fetish. A great deal of them--myself included--feel very strongly they were born with this urge.
The persons engaging in the bullying, blackmail, etc. are taking full advantage of men into this activity who can't come out for any number of reasons. Some are married/have gfs/have kids. Some have jobs that would be threatened by any disclosure of someone into "kinky" same gender activity. Some have a circle of friends they feel will abandon them if they ever came out with it. The fear and intimidation is real.
And YES, many of these guys ARE STRAIGHT. I've talked to a number of straight guys who are into m/m tickling, but do not have a gay orientation--a very important factor in this. Many men desire a physical closeness with other men that manifests itself in actions like cuddling, massage...and tickling. I believe it's truly possible to be able to separate platonic tickling from sexual tickling in that manner. In a world where parents tickling their kids are almost never suspect of pedophilia, even in the tickling community, we suspect ALL men who enjoy tickling other men as being gay. It's not the case.
That said, it would be completely naive to think that no one who looks at the Jane OBrien videos or male/male bondage videos fully clothed is using them for their own sexual pleasures. Of course, many of them are, just as the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue is used as porn for those guys (and gals) into that.
This documentary does NOT make fun of people who have tickling fetishes. It DOES poke a little fun as to the erotic nature of what is obviously a sensual activity. This is during a segment on Richard Ivey's website, "My Friend's Feet", which is prominently expressed in the film as a LEGITIMATE enterprise run by someone who is entirely upfront about what models would go through and experience.
What I've just written here will be points I will bring up with the filmmakers when I interview them about the doc.
