Beginner Bondage/Restraints Recommendations?

My significant other and I both have expressed an interest in dabbling in some bondage. I was hoping to find some good beginner information on restraints. Specifically I was hoping to find information on what types of restraints are the most multi-use bang for your buck, thoughts on restraints vs bondage rope, thoughts on those all in one under the bed kits (I assume they are low quality garbage?), and then recommendations where I can purchase quality reliable merchandise. I don't need professional grade stuff that's gonna leave me broke, but I'd be willing to pay for something that's not flimsy and will break after a few uses.

Surprisingly I can't really find any information at all. I figured I would be able to easily find an article or blog post on this very topic. Instead when googling all that comes up are pages upon pages of similar looking online retailers.

Can anyone here speak to any of these topics?

Thanks

I have these (https://www.extremerestraints.com/bedroom-bondage_337/bedroom-restraint-kit_4937.html) and I can assure you they're not low quality garbage. If people struggle enough they can get out but it's not easy. I've heard female lers say that they've had 250 lb muscle bound guys tied spread eagle with these things and it's almost impossible for them to get out. I don't have much experience with rope so I can't comment on that but the underbed I have works pretty good.

Amazon. Plenty of choices, cheap prices, we have one good set and one cheap set. Never had problems with the cheap set ever.

If you want to really go cheap, cheap, go to the local frabric store, get some two sided velcro, about 12', cut it into 4 pieces. Get some nice soft rope about 3/8", lay about 6" across one end of each piece and roll tightly around the rope about three or four times. Then tie the rope together. At this point, you've got restraints. Use something like washcloths or other soft material to pad the limbs under them and wrap all of the velcro around and around until all is wrapped. This will also additionally secure the rope. Then tie the other ends of the rope to whatever you're tying the victim to. Ready to tickle! Easy, quick and cheap! And you all know how strong velcro is!

An example of the velcro:

If you're looking for strength and a lot of options when it comes to how immobile you want your 'lee, I would suggest black duct tape. Of course you won't be putting in on bare skin, but it's easy enough to slip something twixt it and the skin. I know it sounds a little strange, but having used cheap restraints, expensive restraints, and most things in-between, I swear by duct tape. Black because it looks cooler. You could also use bondage tape, which isn't that expensive and holds pretty good but can only be used once. Same for the black duct tape but it's much cheaper.

Get yourself some bondage tape. It's non stick so it can be applied to the skin and works well for the situations it's meant for. Definitely not expensive. I always have a couple rolls of this lying around because, why not?
Bondage Tape

After that and sticking to the cheap but effective ... well, I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for but this will do the trick.
Door Restraint +
This is ideal for putting the other person's wrist in the restraints then simply throwing the rest of the rope over the door and shutting the door. They're then tied there, hands high over head, with nowhere to go. You could probably do a create your own using a couple of belts, one looped around each wrist then tossed over the door, for the same effect.

If you do go the way of the rope I strongly suggest https://www.twistedmonk.com/ which offers FAQs, how to videos, and the best all around bondage rope you will find.

If you want to go super cheap go to the grocery store, that's what Saran Wrap is for! Be warned that since you'll have to wrap over several times to assure a secure bind, the other person will get hot and sweat a lot because Saran Wrap doesn't really breathe. Still can be fun and useful since you can see through it or bind them up in it and cut certain parts away that you want access to. If you're going to use anything to cut wrap or tape or etc... on a person make sure you purchase safety scissors/medical scissors.

It can get expensive and there are a lot of things to choose from. Feel free to pm me with more specific questions. I could go on and on about spreader bars or gags or clamps or collars or cuffs or crops or or or...it depends what you two are looking to do and the kind of budget you have exactly. I would suggest saving up for something slightly nicer rather than rushing into it and getting it on the cheap. The quality will make a difference in the entire experience.

I didn't check where you're at but you can also go to a local sex shop and browse around. Get ideas. I'm sure you want to get into it asap but time spent researching will make it that much more enjoyable ensuring you continue down that road in the future.

Why spending so much money? Just get a piece of soft rope, that works perfect for spread eagle or a hogtie. It's not really necessary to spend much money. Just take care that it's not too tight.

I've always used ties. Men's dress ties that is. I'm pretty strong but those things have held up for YEARS now and their softer/comfier than rope in my opinion. I'm guessing you probably have a few crappy ties you got as Christmas presents?

Good call. Thanks!

Lots of good suggestions here. An under the bed kit (i.e., the thing that straps to the mattress) is a good bet, though I suggest getting Velcro straps (some have very weak metal buckles). The over the door set is also good. Both of these are relatively cheap and easily concealable.

If you want to graduate to stocks, check out captive pleasures - http://captivepleasures.com. You can also make your own but these guys produce some high quality stuff which can be disassembled and stored. PLR/Comfort Eagle has a referral thing with them so make sure to mention his company if you go that route.

Love the neck ties, been using those forever. Also, the belts from my bath robes, one silk one satin work very well. Unfortunately, I don't think they will ever be untied from my bed posts because the knots have become so tight from all the struggling lol. As an additional technique with the neck ties, a 1"x 8" board about 5 feet long can be shoved under the mattress on top of the box spring at the foot of the bed with about a foot of the board sticking out. Tie 2 neck ties to the board and secure an ankle with each tie for a cheap, easy pair of ankle restraints.

I made my own restrains for a special someone that I had the pleasure of strapping up. Basically everything I used to make them came from a second hand store. Second hand belts made up the wrist and ankle cuffs, coupled with Velcro for additional strength. Then I splurged on some rope from my local Wal-Mart, about three dollars or so, cut it to the measurements of a king sized bed and ran them underneath the mattress. She was helpless, and there were times during the session I could tell she was doing her darndest to protect her underarms, but it was to no avail.
So to wrap it up, belts - four dollars, Velcro - five dollars, rope - three dollars, the look on her face when she realizes your homemade restraints aren't as pauper as she thought they would be - pricele$$!!

I've always been tempted by the under the bed restraints. Are they any good?

Under the bed restraints work really well as long as the specifications are on point. In my case I took the measurements of the biggest size of mattress out there, the king sized mattress, and cut my rope about two feet extra so that it could lap over the bed. What's great about this is that you can still use the rope on mattresses of lesser measurements. You'll simply have excess rope at each limb. If you have a strong lee, they won't be putting any stress on the bed frame or posts or fixtures. They'll be working against their own limbs. So if say they're yanking with their left arm, it exposes their right arm and vice versa. Of course if you keep things real tight, there won't be that kind of wiggle room. Hope this helps.

I got my first set for around $50 at the local head shop / porn store. Before that, all my stuff was home made. They worked pretty well, and even though they appeared to be not very strong, they held up fine.

When it's homemade that just makes it all the more special. There's nothing like the knowledge that your handiwork is being put to good use. :)

Ticklees will sometimes even find it flattering that you went out of your way to make them yourself.

I totally agree!:iagree:
I've made my fair share of bondage toys, including a pretty solid set of under the mattress stocks. My home made wrist restraints are stronger and more comfortable than the ones I bought, but they take longer to get set up.

Sensualswitch, these are my first attempts at restraints. Nothing fancy, but they get the job done. DSC01856.JPG

I like the design! How did you attach the velcro? Did you glue it or sew it? And what are the smaller colored parts? I may have to copy your design, they look a lot more convenient than my own wrist restraints.

Wow! Sweet Stocks!! Very nice. And your wrist straps aren't bad. What make up mine are old belts. The major one which goes around the subject's (victim) wrists and ankles is made up of very comfortable material. The Velcro was originally glued on, but because I'm a stickler for detail I had it sown on as well, for longevity sake. The multi colored bits are even smaller belts I use so that I can comfortably run ropes through there without the fear of discomforting my subject's skin. They held up real well when I used them this summer. The ropes are simply run the width of the bed from one end to the other and any excess rope just hangs off the side.

Very nice, it looks like you've come up with a good system. I may have to add some velcro to my wrist restraints. The problem is, mine are excessively long, so when they are around someone's wrist, a portion dangles from the belt buckle. I've been taping it in place, but you can imagine a lee's reaction when I'm putting on the cuffs and say "ok, now I need to use duct tape" lol.

I've been meaning to make another set of stocks and turn it into a DIY for the forum, but it's hard to find the time, being a huge procrastinator. I really did enjoy the process of making them. It was a labor of love. :) I even learned how to do a half assed job of upholstering on the process.

Staples work wonders it looks like. Well there's no shame in using duct tape. The main purpose is to keep someone secure. What ensures there's no excess dangling on my cuffs is that the Velcro goes the length of the strap so it wraps round the wrists and ankles and remains in place. You can find said Velcro at any fabric shop, or even Wal-Mart.

Fuck captivepleasure.com I had thousands and thousands of dollars worth of orders set up with them and they dropped off the face of the earth with no answer to emails, phone calls, nada. I even posted here about it. I didn't hear a peep from a soul. Die.

I made this thread a while ago, and then forgot I had made it! Thank you for all the great replies. I'd like to qualify. I am not looking for a cheap solution, which is what I think the assumption became. I am willing to spend 50-100 dollars for quality gear.

To be honest I am not that interested in ropes or tape at this time. I'd like a set of hand/ankle restraints that are easy to use, sturdy, and well made. I'd also ideally like some sort of buckle system for further securing the chest, thighs, etc... I'm not sure what the actually term for that type of restraint is.

The best looking thing I've found on amazon is: https://www.amazon.com/LEATHER-Rest...=1484459965&sr=8-7&keywords=under+bed+bondage . I'm sure there are better ones out there though.

Does anyone have recommendations for this sort of gear?

Thanks
