I know a guy who had someone custom-request several thousands of dollars worth of material, and then they vanished.
So there's a very good reason for that.

Ouch. Not the first time I've heard that horror story. Every producer I know now at least requires 50% down, before accepting a custom. Hope that didn't completely kill that producer's business.
