So how many of you know Anita Sarkeesian

I think having good relations with people is just good relations in an organization like Sarkeesian's. Like being a business vs being a social cause.

considering my name isn't meangry and I don't shit on everyone I don't think I'm unreasonable.

let's do some fact checking

OP got critiqued.

OP was not given permission to release critique.

OP has waited over a year for permission (correct?)

Critique comes from feminists.

Feminism in 2017 looks more like outrage than outreach.

Do you really think this might be more than just a friendly pat on the back?

Actually the whole thing was set up a year ago (it was a perk when you donated to her last YouTube series), but was only sent in at the end of October, with the finalized notes sent in the middle of January. I only asked for the go ahead to post it a week or so ago.

And this;

I think the OP was pretty straightforward in saying he didn't expect the positive review he received, and he didn't try to put any other meaning into it than, "Hey, I submitted this, and got a better reaction than I thought it might!"

Agreed but don't you think it would be nice to have some credibility when he releases it?

Seems pretty reasonable, when going through with everything I didn't really expect a "Do not publish" disclaimer along with it so I just assumed once I got it I could post it wherever. I did ask permission so I'm waiting on it, but this seems fair. I'm still holding off that I can be given the thumbs up as 'proof', since all things considered it was way more positive than I think most people think, but I understand why what I've posted thus far isn't really swaying anyone one way or another.

Actually let me add onto this, since I think I misinterpreted your point;

I'm thinking if it weren't sent for rational review it might be lynched by other feminists. call me crazy, but it's not out of reach.

Am I correct to assume you liken this more to a kind of "I slide you a little something, and in return you don't call me sexist..." type deal? Because that seems possible, until you take into account even half this thread believes "She will call everything sexist", has criticized Joss Whedon material while being personal friends with the man, and who made a literal brand out of 'Criticize The Media You Love'. If there was any final boss who would have laid my material to shreds, it was without question going to be Fem Freq.

Fair enough. OK, so maybe I was jumping the gun there. But I'll elaborate my thinking by responding to the rest of your post.

OK, but given what you've shown us in post #24, you showed us you basically kicked off this thing by supporting the feminist frequency (I guess monetarily is the first thing that comes to mind) and they in exchange offer you the chance to submit a piece of work you've invested yourself into for their critique. So basically you gave them material to work with, twice. In my head, this changes the story a bit from "I sent something to Anita Sarkeesian/feminism" to "I became a customer of Anita Sarkeesian/Feminist Frequency" (And I'll admit, sometimes I don't read as closely as I should, and leave people a bit confused later on). Admittedly I lost interest in feminism after I saw that what I hear (things like "elevator-gate" for instance) don't really jive well with what I learned in my old college Women's Studies course, but this exchange interested me, obviously.

So unless we're not counting money, this really doesn't meet our friendly wikipedia definition of "feminism":
Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies, and social movements that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal, and social rights for women.[1][2] This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment.

Or in the casual sense "equal treatment for men and women". The opportunity you've given a feminist is to decide whether or not they like the idea of being tickled.

What does this mean for your works in the end? Well, if you're monetarily supporting feminism, and looking for a critique of your work, you're essentially paying for compliments/someone's acknowledgement. What this does not mean to me, however is that they'll openly publish and promote your work. Something that might be beneficial to the release of your game that I haven't seen, if and when it comes, that says "if you're not experimenting with this in your own private lives, you're fucking dull!". So that's the reason for my suspicion.

Everything, if you crane your head one way or another, can be construed as sexist. Because men and women are different. They have different interests, they have different physical attributes that help them accomplish different tasks easier. You'll rarely see something like a female lumberjack because....they just aren't that fucking into physical activity as much as men are. There's the exception, but then there's reality. Or there's screaming "REEEEEEE!!". Take your pick.

I'm gonna be quite honest with you, I'm not sure what the best response is.

I saw a chance to get a famous feminist organization, largely considered (fairly or otherwise) to be "sex negative", pretty much have to give an opinion about blatantly sex based content in a way I think many people, here and elsewhere, would have an interest in knowing. To my surprise, the end result was very enthusiastic. While the initial idea was to show people what specifically was said, thus giving them a firsthand account of something many likely never expected to see (FemFreq having to talk about the tickle fetish and people indulging that fetish), I still think the end result was worth the overall experience.

What was in it for me? I got to say 'Feminist Frequency played my tickleporn game'. And furthermore 'Feminist Frequency more or less really liked my tickleporn game'. That's pretty rad to me.

Everything, if you crane your head one way or another, can be construed as sexist.

And they ended up thinking 'finding new people to shoot tickle fetish videos with' wasn't.

Bud, what you did was cool. There's no denying that. You're right. You got potentially sex-negative feminists to play your game. That's cool. I just hope that in some form, that this community gets a boost, because really, I'm getting tired of trying to meet women that go "well, you're into the whole tickling thing, and I'm looking for a guy who will hubby me. I guess it works." Like I'd like to meet women who like the idea of tickling in stocks. A little skepticism reared it's head is all.

Us creative guys, we'll get things done. Rest assured. Like that mp3 to midi converter? Fucks up sounds nice.

This is the only part that throws me. It sounds kind of adversarial, like you went into it with a bit of "I'm gonna make these feminists look at my tickle porn, and make a donation, so they have to give an opinion." And they acted like adults, which surprised you.

Maybe? I guess, like I didn't go into it with the whole "fuckin' feminazis" thing going (I paid them actual, hard earned cash, bit of commitment in order to spite or trick them into looking at my weird cartoon porn) though I would be lying if I said a negative opinion wouldn't have also have been interesting. Like even worst case scenario, the thought they would respond with something along the lines of a "How fucking dare you, creep!" or something similar wasn't something I was banking on, I expected a nice professional response. Non-fetish comments prior had amounted to "Well, it's weird yeah, but I like parts of it..." so I kind of expected to see something similar to that, so the fact they were so openly positive about the kink stuff and the way it's implemented in the game was very surprising.

That's one interpretation, and the fact a highly negative response likely would have amused me too suggests subconsciously that was kicking around in the back of my head, but the long and short of it is I was genuinely curious as to what they thought about it. I can say for sure I was kind of holding out hope they would like it (or at least not really hate it), so I was very pleasantly surprised with the way things panned out. Again, you hardly ever see them talk openly about blatant "this is about sex and fetish" content, and now they have. And they said it about something I made. That's cool to me.

I've read the entire thread but... maybe I missed it. Where will the game be available? :)

Not too much longer! There's already one version out now but since then I've redone it considerably, and I'd rather put that one out and have everyone enjoy the "definitive" version.

Huh, I thought Anita's 15 minutes ended awhile ago but hey, that's great Comfort Eagle. Congrats!

Question for you though...

Given how massively unpopular Anita is in the gaming community, is it wise to attach her name/organization to your game when you release it? (or did I misread something and you aren't going to do that??)

Apparently she's still got a small but comically obsessed demographic of hate-followers; that's something.

Maybe he's aiming for a bigger demographic than this one:

I mean, I think he'd like to make a few bucks.

For one, 'that fetish porn game Feminist Frequency played and kind of liked' is definitely going to draw eyes no matter if you like her or not. But I've also dismissed nearly all Anita-critics as whiners, I can't find one that makes any good response to her that doesn't devolve into rambling gibberish. But there was another element, and that's a lot of "SJWs" enjoy kink and fetish content, and it wouldn't be the worst idea to put out something that appealed to a little bit of everybody.

Yeah people like her always end up with a small cult following though. It's to be expected.

Right, that's not really what I meant though. You can say "All Anita critics are whiners" but that doesn't change how the majority of the gaming community feels about her so if you're going to push your game which involves tickling and also mention FemFreq, it could lead people to dismiss it or see it negatively which would suck.

Interesting angle there. I had never thought of this. So people who are ultra left wing are more likely to be into kink?

Nah, not really. About an even 50/50 split. But why have to pick one or the other when I can try and get both to enjoy it?

Perhaps you could put a disclaimer on the game that says, "Even though this was approved by Feminist Frequency, I Double-Bro pinky swear that if you play it, Anita S. won't send her feminist stormtrooper ninjas kick down your door and laugh at your dick"? That might calm some fears.

Dude, there are female gamers too.

Frankly I think the fact that you can tickle torture guys in it scared off enough of 'that crowd' already. Oddly enough, it was recommended that I add honest to God 'trigger warnings' if a scenario could play out as f/m or m/m.

Well, whatever you do, good luck and god speed man!

Thanks much!
