Thought it might be time for another music thread! :) And as this particular topic hasn't come up in a few years (as far as I'm aware, anyway), I thought, "Heck, why not!"

Whether it's a whole song, a verse, one line... Whatever ya like! I got a couple o' humdingers lol. But I thought I'd open it out to the forum first.

Cheeyers. :)

From Seltzer Boy by Allan Sherman:

Don't bring me water.
I've got to have seltzer.
'Cause water don't bubble,
And water don't FIZZ.

Water, I hate it,
'Cause it ain't carbonated.
But a glass of seltzer,
On the other hand, IS.

How come you're always such a fussy young man?
Dont want no Captain Crunch, dont want no raisin bran.
Well dont you know there's other kids starving in Japan
So eat it. Just eat it.

From I Hold Your Hand In Mine by Tom Lehrer:

I hold your hand in mine, dear,
I press it to my lips.
I take a healthy bite
From your dainty fingertips.

My joy would be complete, dear,
If you were only here,
But still I keep your hand
As a precious souvenir.

The night you died I cut it off.
I really don't know why.
For now each time I kiss it
I get bloodstains on my tie.

Enjoyed those Tom Lehrer lyrics. I like Poisoning Pigeons in the Park - the song, I mean. lol

My pulse will be quickenin'
With each drop of strychnine
We feed to a pigeon
It just takes a smidgen
To poison a pigeon in the park

lol

"Fuck that bullshit, we'll make it right!
Get ready for a sexy fight!
My dick's the spark of hope and a revolution shall ignite
toooniiiiiiiight!!"

And, of course, there is his very popular National Brotherhood Week. Here are the complete lyrics:

Oh, the white folks hate the black folks,
And the black folks hate the white folks.
To hate all but the right folks
Is an old established rule.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
Lena Horne and Sheriff Clarke are dancing cheek to cheek.
It's fun to eulogize
The people you despise,
As long as you don't let 'em in your school.

Oh, the poor folks hate the rich folks,
And the rich folks hate the poor folks.
All of my folks hate all of your folks,
It's American as apple pie.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
New Yorkers love the Puerto Ricans 'cause it's very chic.
Step up and shake the hand
Of someone you can't stand.
You can tolerate him if you try.

Oh, the Protestants hate the Catholics,
And the Catholics hate the Protestants,
And the Hindus hate the Moslems,
And everybody hates the Jews.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
It's National Everyone-smile-at-one-another-hood Week.
Be nice to people who
Are inferior to you.
It's only for a week, so have no fear.
Be grateful that it doesn't last all year!

Get ready for a sexy fight!
My dick's the spark of hope and a revolution shall ignite
toooniiiiiiiight!!"

Ah, that's where I've heard it! I knew it was either those guys or Gilbert and Sullivan.

:flatstare: lol

He is the last.
There are no more.
He is the last dinosaur.

From the theme song,The Last Dinosaur movie.

These lyrics are taken from Lush Life (written by Billy Strayhorn). They almost read more like prose than words to a song!

Then you came along with your siren song to tempt me to madness. I thought for a while that your poignant smile was tinged with a sadness of a great love for me. Ah yes! I was wrong. Again, I was wrong. Life is lonely again. And only last year everything seemed so sure. Now life is awful again; a trough-full of hearts could only be a bore!

A week in Paris will ease the bite of it: all I care is to smile in spite of it. I'll forget you. I will. While yet you are still burning inside my brain. Romance is mush! stifling those who strive. I'll live a lush life in some small dive. And there I'll be while I rot with the rest of those whose lives are lonely too.

These are from "I Know My Baby Loves Me(in her own peculiar way). Sung by Ernest Tubb in the 60's? " I loaned her my apartment, while I was out of town, when I got back I found that she had burned the building down...But I know my baby loves me, in her own peculiar way.... Honky-tonk meets restraining order.

A careless heart, ain't no good to no one
I was going back, my friends to see
Of what became of my childhood daydreams
Of all the things that used to be

To my surprise, I stood alone
I walked a river of a waking dream
My father say; know what you're thinking
I guess this old town seen better days

It's all gone
Ain't nothing for you here now
It's all gone
Ain't nothing for you here now
Sail on

You talk of change, something better
Cutting down that big old tree
There's flesh and blood, in there somewhere
No matter what, you just don't seem to see

I walk your chambers, your empty hallways
I see you talking behind the doors
My father say; know what you're thinking
I guess this old town seen better days

It's all gone
Ain't nothing for you here now
It's all gone
Ain't nothing for you here now
Sail on .......

"Without you I cannot confide in anything
The hope is pale designed in light of dreams you bring
Summer's gone, the day is done soon comes the night
Biding time, leaving the line and out of sight

One moonlit shadow on the wall
Disrupted in its own creation
Veiled in the darkness of this fall
Is this the end - manifestation

It runs in me, your poison seething in my veins
This skin is old and stained by late September rains
A final word from me would be the first for you
The rest is long but I'll go on inside and through

One moonlit shadow on the wall
Disrupted in its own creation
Veiled in the darkness of this fall
Is this the end - manifestation

Patterns in the Ivy
Patterns in the Ivy"

Sting - Tomorrow We'll See. They're long, but really interesting. I wonder if anyone here can figure out what they're about...

"The streets are wet
The lights have yet
To shed their darkened luster on the scene

My skirt's too short
My tights are run
These new heels are killing me

A second pack of cigarettes
It's a slow night, but there's time yet
Here comes the john from his other life
He may be driving to his wife
But he slowed down, take a look
I've learned to read them just like books
It's already half past ten
But they'll be back again

Head lights in a rainy street
I checked, made sure it's not the heat
I wink, I smile, I wave my hand
He stops, he seems to understand
A small transaction we must meet
I tell him that my heart will break
If he's not a generous man
I step into his van

They say the first's the hardest trick
But after that it's just a matter of logic
They have the money I have the time
Being pretty's my only crime
Ask what future do I see
I say it's really up to me
I don't need forgiving
I'm just making a living

Don't judge me
You could be me in another life
In another set of circumstances

Don't judge me
One more night
I'll just have to take my chances
For tomorrow we'll see

A friend of mine, he wound up dead
His dress is stained with color red
The next of kin, no fixed abode
Another victim on this road
The police just carted him away
But someone took his place next day
He's home by Thanksgiving
But not with the living

Don't judge me
You could be me in another life
In another set of circumstances

Don't judge me
One more night
I'll just have to take my chances

I know it's just not in my plan
For someone to care who I am

I walk in the streets for money
It's the business of love, hey honey, come on!
Don't leave me lonely, don't leave me sad
I'll be the sweetest five minutes you'll ever have

Don't judge me
You could be me in another life
In another set of circumstances

Don't judge me
One more night
I'll just have to take my chances
And tomorrow we'll see"

'Don't judge me, you could be me...' - I basically live by these words.

^ In the past life he was "Roxanne." Hit the dust again. He/She didn't evolve that much. ;-) XD

How many guesses do we get? lol

I'll give you a hint after the first guess. If you don't get it after the second one, I'll explain. ;)
