Southern Dallas is starting to have some regular munches going on, thanks to DemiTickler. The turnouts have been small but we've never had anything like this regularly going on, either, even when I was trying to host or cohost private events in the mid 2000s, so the fact that she has stuck with it for 3 months straight alone is fantastic, and welcome.
But we would love to have more people join us, and that is where we need to hear from many of you - in the area, or out of the area if you have experiences with munches. Due to work and family factors I don't get to travel or host much anymore, so I'd love to see something local like this keep going.
This main issues:
We hope to get more people out to the once-a-month munch. Right now it is held in a very good spot: on a Saturday on a Starbucks patio. Honestly, since we look so normal and we are so close to a freeway it's doubtful that anyone would pay any attention to us so conversation flows pretty easily no matter what the topic. If we need to do something on a Saturday and then maybe have another get-together on a Monday or Tuesday evening because of people's work or family schedule then that may be another option - do this twice a month.
We would love to see more "under 30s" and women, but everyone is welcome.
We need to hit FetLife with this new munch, I know, I know. There's a lot more in-person activity there. It's on my to-do list. Did I mention the work and family factors?
We've discussed one of these days in getting a motel room or two NOT for a play party but for a more private munch; as great is our current location is, possibly doing one special get-together privately, but in a "public" setting, where we could have our own place to be ourselves, let our hair down, and really talk about this interest in full privacy. We could bring food or order out, watch movies, play games, talk, etc. and if anyone comes from out of town, there's an entire motel at your disposal. Again, not for play, but taking the munch idea and making, it once in a while, something where we don't always have to keep our voices down or guard too much what we talk about.
Our eventual goal is play parties but we want to get the munch thing down first. Yes, for the most part if people heard what we were saying they probably would not care at all. Still, we'd be interested in your thoughts on any aspect of this; Dallas County has never had a munch 3 times in a row (going on 4) that was *just* focused on tickling. DemiTickler, I, all of us here in the area would love to keep that going, so any constructive ideas you have on that would be welcome.
