Well I mean the "us" it portrayed in a negative light was literally one guy. Who did everything he could to portray himself as a fucked up monster.

The community and the "surprises" that are discovered about various members of the community.
Still, there's been the occasional news articles about dudes going into women's windows looking to tickle their feet while they sleep over the years. D'Amado was either a hell of a traveler or it was someone else.

I just believe that in any group of people there will be several members that either are malicious or get the wrong message that generate such happenings that fuck it up for everybody. Just like guys that subscribe to pickup artistry to make average women think the majority of guys are douchebags practicing prepared material to form a fast track to getting into their pants. There's always a population on the fringe of a group they identify with.
You're stitching together a narrative based on things most people haven't heard about and a movie you haven't bothered to watch.

Look, I never said I would rule it out to watch it....it's just on the list. At the very bottom of the list. Maybe my commitment to my fetish is showing seeing as I just don't care to watch some silly-ass documentary about the horrors of "competitive endurance tickling"?
The competition was treated with light-hearted curiosity, and not judgmentally. It was only the door that opened up into the sick, twisted world of D'Amato.
It was a documentary that started out being about one thing, and pivoted into another.

See that's another thing that feeds into my skepticism over this film. That sounds like something pretty scripted not to judge. Scripted because I can't imagine how it would've been produced any other way if it were brutal honesty at play. When I get this deep into explaining why I don't like the film just from the concept combined with current events, I can't help but feel there's some sour taste in my mouth that people share regarding the perspective of the community, but shake it off because at the same time it's simply attention that draws additional people to these forums.

So, there is no need to ask celebrities that question, we simply need to recruit that lady, and she’ll find it out for sure.

Gotta admit the guy had a pretty impressive shriek he tried to hide. I think the movie is probably a couple's Netflix pick; "hey, let's try this in bed". The first date huh? Girls I've met must've missed the memo. How perverted is it if I reach date 3 and pull out the DVD copy? Lol

I'll never understand the guys who think people will only want to get in on this if someone does the legwork of "explaining it to them" via movie or magazine or something. In a sense I guess you deserve a "shaming" movie if that was the entire endgame.
More accurately,
"I've seen the documentary" will mean, "I know you're a guy pretending to be a cute, flirty girl who constantly asks guys if they're ticklish."
The creepiness in the doc was pretty specific.

Bright enough to see that art follows a format/pattern/template. Art that people don't understand usually is unsuccessful. Take Martin Garrix vs Messhuggah for instance. One universally is understood by people over the other.
Why is it so important that I agree with this film? Because I'm supposed to feel some connection/sympathy with people that are "like me"? I'm an alien in my own "community" and I'm not even affected by it.
Right.....That's why avant-garde isn't a recognized genre of every art form.
