New Piece About The Science Of Tickling

I was reading the news here in England on my break at work and to my surprise came across an editorial about the science of tickling. Thought i'd share the link in case anyone else fancies reading it.

Always interesting to try to delve into the deep evolutionary origins of human behaviour.

Intriguing idea that laughter might have evolved from the breathy exhalations of boisterous play activity. I don't really understand that point though. The report seems to be saying that laughter is a "ritualised" refinement of those breathy noises, which suggests a deliberate voluntary noise. Some human laughter is exactly that, but a lot is involuntary, and laughter from tickling is always involuntary.

Also, as someone who hates being tickled, I can't easily relate to the experience of enjoying being tickled and seeking it out as a humorous and pleasurable activity, common though I know that is. Why do I laugh when tickled, even though I don't enjoy it?

It would be nice if the article was about people, rather than various members of the animal kingdom (that's a perversion too far for me).

Personally, found the pictures of the bonobos getting tickled adorable and not "perverted" at all. And on the topic of Bonobos, I won't link to any here, but search YouTube for bonobos mating and you'll find some interesting and endearing things. They are a lot like humans in many ways.
