Favourite/Least favourite guitar solos

Hello, hello.

Thought it might be time for another music thread. I was going to title this thread Best/Worst Guitar Solos, but then I thought, Well that's just asking for trouble lol... "You think that's the best ever guitar solo?! What are you, fuckin retarded?!" (You know how lovely and life-affirming these online discussions can be. *rolls eyes*)

So yeah, guitar solos that make a song for you, that spoil a song for you... Whatever you think.

I have a couple in mind, but I thought I would open it up to the forum first.

Also, thoughts on guitar solos generally? Do we need 'em? lol Is the guitar solo nothing more than a self-indulgent anachronism? :shrug:

I guess it depends on how someone defines a guitar solo as these songs have accompaniment but here's a few of my favorites. I suppose some guitar solos can be seen as self-indulgent but if it strikes a chord with me (no pun intended) I don't worry about it.

I am no musician, so I do not have the musical culture than most people here have. But I tend to like any guitar solo by Kirk Hammett, especially on the songs Master of Puppets and The Thing That Should Not Be. I love the "S&M" album; can listen to it from start to finish while doing nothing else than just savor the music. Or Alexi Laiho: the guy is so talented that it is almost a crime; too bad he knows it

Just listened to that Judas Priest tune. Yeah, can't argue with that choice lol. 'Tis piss-poor for sure!

For me, the bad ones are usually just forgettable.

Some of my favorites are... No More Tears. My Sharona. The Unforgiven. Hangar 18. Creeping Death. I Wanna Be Sedated. Paranoid. Stuck In The Middle With You. In My Time Of Dying.
