Some of you know I have a big problem not just with videos where 'lees reactions are fake, but even when they exaggerate their reactions for the camera, laughing louder than seems realistic, and/or in a tone that sounds forced or fake. Those videos make me feel like I'm being played, conned, duped and tricked... that only people who are dumb, gullible or dull-witted would fall for these amateur acting jobs, but not me for God's sake. Put it this way, at least if I do get conned by a fake "performance," it won't be because I never thought about it.

So here's the tell: Lots of times I find myself watching the face of the 'ler more than the face of the 'lee, especially if it's a female 'ler. Why? Because since the tickler doesn't usually consider her reactions to be the point of the video, she's likely to not even think about faking anything. So if the reaction on her face seems truly amused and entertained by the squirming and yelping of the 'lee, that provides a clue that it's really authentic. (Until producers read this post and start asking the 'lers to fake reactions as well, I suppose. :) )

Does anyone else ever think about this? It's my #WatchTheLerFace free advisory.

I love that there are so many of you people that think there's this big, elaborate conspiracy to sell you inauthentic tickleporn.

Does this mean inspector coolso can return to find clues for this dastardly fake laugh scam

I don't think the Zapruder film gets as much scrutiny as the average tickle vid.

Not at all. Doesn't need to be a conspiracy since it's in the economic interests of the producers.

In fact, some have admitted as much on this forum.

If they book a model, she says she's ticklish to get the money, then it turns out she's maybe a little ticklish at best -- does the producer throw away the footage and take a loss on the whole shoot, or market it anyway, hoping to get a few bucks? We see the latter all too often.

Not a conspiracy at all. Why would they need to discuss this with anyone?

I don't know about others, but I have thrown away such shoots a more than a few times over the years. Win some, lose some.

But not everybody's the same. 2 people could be feeling the exact same emotion and have completely different expressions on their faces. Also 2 people could be looking at the expression on 1 person's face and one person will say they look happy and excited whereas the other one will say they look sad and bored. Basically what someone's expression is saying could be a mater of opinion so the ler's expression doesn't necessarily show whether the lee is ticklish or not.

It's certainly not 100%, you're right. I'm saying it sheds more insight on the authenticity. And yes, "the beholder" would have to be intuitive enough to have a good sense of reading people.

If it's difficult to distinguish between fake laughter and real laughter then I don't see the problem.

I think the best tell is that first moment when the tickling begins. If the lee seems surprised and squirmy right away then you might have a good one.

Back to the original post, the female ticklers facial expression is huge for me. I would wager many are not even aware they have a huge grin on their faces at the time.

You are absolutely right here. The worst actors go instantly into too-much-reaction mode on the first second -- and then afterward behave like an on/off switch, exhibiting almost no in-between range in their reactions.
