OK I work at a job that I love and my co-workers are all great (including one beautiful blonde w/perfect feet, who I don't dare tickle, but damn it's tempting). The money's not great, but for the first time in years, I actually enjoy going to work. However I almost jeopardized that job this morning.

I had a Conference Call w/my boss and a huge client at 9AM. Fortunately the client had to push the call back to 10:30. The reason that's fortunate is because at 9:10 a stored F/M tickling video stored on my phone started playing in my pocket and the volume was cranked all the way up. My phone is really sensitive and I've pocket dialed different people a couple times, and occasionally a video or music will be activated. Thank God I was in my office w/the door closed so nobody heard it. But if the call had started at the original scheduled time, about 10 minutes into the meeting, the sound of male laughter would suddenly be coming from my pants, in front of my boss and an important client, leaving me at the very least thoroughly humiliated, possibly in trouble.

So I guess the moral of the story is whenever you're heading into a business meeting, or job interview, make sure your phones turned off if possible or at the very least on mute/vibrate.

Why would you even have that on an item you take to work?

Yeah you definitely dodged a major bullet. Thank your lucky stars on that one. The boss would have had every right to fire in a situation like that.

I do have to echo Dummy's message tho, a cell phone is probably not a good instrument to have media like that on.

Glad you made it out ok.

If it makes any difference it's my personal phone, not a work cell, and not connected in any way to the office network. I usually turn the phone off or volume down before heading into the building but today I forgot. But yeah, I didn't want to push my luck, so I deleted all such vids from my phone

My own phone is chock-full of tickling videos, images and cartoons. It has most of the MTJ's PDFs I have bought over the years, especially their written fictions (more comfortable to read on a phone or tablet than on the computer).

There is no chance ever that they get played by accident. It's an iPhone: it would be an enormous coincidence that 1) it unlocks, 2) I press the exact spot to get the video app (less than 1 inch surface, probably) and then press again for the vid to play. Not to mention my video app is inside a subfolder: three accidental presses are probably at a probability rate of one in a million.

Back to your own experience: I think it would have been still okay if a laughter (no image) would play for a few seconds. It could have been anything. But if it was a "dialogue" or frantic begging, yeah that would have been embarrassing :D Although, I am sure that the other people in the room would probably have a similar amount of porn on their own phones as well ;)

I don't know about American labor laws, but I do not believe I could have gotten "in trouble" for something so trivial. However, it would definitely be embarrassing or awkward

I never put any tickling vids on my phone, just because of this reason... the one time I forget to turn the phone on mute or shut it off.

I would have fired him.

Of course you would have, since it's painfully apparent that you love to instigate and troll. How you're even still here is a minor miracle. Mods?

Apparently he's living up to his screen name.

Many States have "right to work" laws, which despite the name, means one can be fired for any reason at any time. Most often there is a good reason, but there doesn't have to be. So, in such a State, he could have been fired had the phone started playing during the call. A possible reason - the laughter was making fun of the client (no it wasn't, but did the client know that? And, would he have given an explanation then and there? Doubtful). A few thoughts on the matter, but, yes, Lady Luck was with him that day.

Not that it really matters, but that is not what “right to work” laws are. States where you can be fired for pretty much anything are “at will” employment states. Right to work has to do with whether you can be required to participate in or pay dues to a union. They are very effective laws in the ongoing effort to destroy organized labor, but other than indirectly by leaving workers with weaker unions, right to work laws have nothing to do with defining grounds for termination.

I know that we can often be very sensitive about being outed as it relates to our interest in tickling, but I think it is very unlikely that simply having a few seconds of the audio of a tickling video accidentally play during a conference call would lead to anyone being terminated unless maybe they were already looking for a reason to fire you. It’s much more of a big deal to us than it usually is to others.

Nice post! :goodjob:

Right To Work does not mean that. You mean At Will and regardless you can get fired for anything that happens at work and for many things away from work.
I would have fired him.

If the customer heard it I would have fired him. It's inappropriate plus it is an embarrassment to the company. The employer would be obligated to send the correct message that such things will not be tolerated.

If it had happened I probably would've been relieved to be fired, as opposed to continuing to work there and feeling awkward and embarrassed around my co-workers

This sounds like the sort of thing that would happen to me just because I'm a lunkhead sometimes. Kind of like stepping on a banana peel or walking into a telephone poll. :p
