Well this was nothing if not predictable. The Braes have been harshly penalized after they were caught cheating international signing rules. Simply put, the Braves circumvented international spending limits during the 2015-16 season and went apeshit the following year. Okay, that might not sound like a huge deal, but a) "rules is rules" and b) and perhaps worst of all is this little tidbit from the article...
"Manfred said MLB's investigation determined the Braves moved international signing bonus pool money from one player to boost another player's contract".
Former GM John Coppolella will join the likes of Pete Rose in the banned for life category.
As a lifelong braves fan, I guess we probably deserved this, though from what I understand, it's a somewhat common practice. But it's the ones who are stupid enough to get caught who get punsihed the most severely.
