On this day in December 7, 1941 the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.

The following day President Franklin D. Roosevelt went before Congress and asked for a declaration of war against the Empire Of Japan. This event changed the lives of everybody even living today when you think of it.

Thanks for the reminder, Paracarl. The few surviving veterans of that attack are now in their 90's.

Always remember. It's also why our military is so schiztzo now.... so we don't get caught again. RIP to those that gave all back then.

The day which proved the catalyst for FDR to get America into WWII on the side of the Allies. You look at all the incredible resistance against entering the war in the US and ironically most of it came from German Americans. Kinda understandable but also unfortunate.

While I can understand the mentality of having our nation always prepared to fight two wars at once, it's also costing our nation hundreds of billions that we could also spend to relieve our debt and help repair our crumbling infrastructure. Also it's kind of redundant to have such a powerful military when we already have weapons that can wipe out all our enemies ten times over.

^The feeling at the time was that you USA did not want to get into another European War like WWI.^

Yes but a great deal of those who felt that way where Americans of German decent/ancestry.

I'm not pointing fingers mind you, I'm just pointing out historical facts.
