The best birthday present that you ever got

As a counterpoint to Bugman's thread about the worst Christmas present that you ever got, this thread asks you to talk about the best birthday present that you ever got.

My best birthday present ever is too personal to be posted here where it can be read by the whole world, but is in a blog post:

This past October, my girlfriend bought concert tickets for one of my favorite bands. Before the show, we got breakfast at a great local joint and had pancakes. Then she took me to my favorite local brewery and we got to take a tour of the facility and try a few cold ones. After that we traveled 60 miles east to the town the concert was in, but first we stopped at a record store my friend manages and she bought me a Neil Young record, then she took me to get tacos. After that we rocked out at the show.

Yeah, she really knocked it out of the park this year. Best birthday yet. Not sure I deserve someone that good.

On my 21st birthday. (A long time ago, I know)

My mom took me to Atlantic City by car. (With someone else driving).

Mom paid for the whole trip.. Room, food, entertainment. (Money to gamble, lol)

I walked into the casino at exactly midnight when it turned to my 21st birthday. .

I walked up to the dice table.

I then ordered a drink, and proceeded to drink. (Vodka and Cranberry Juice if I recall correctly). and shot the dice.

We were down there for three days over my then college break.

It was really a nice mini vacation.

Nothing I can remember. My family has never been big on birthdays. Heck, after about age six you were lucky to get a cake.

When I was turning 11 (I think) I had the tenacity and cheekiness to write to a motor museum and asked if I could have a ride in some of their cars during my Birthday visit.

To my surprise, I had a response and was offered a VIP tour and the chance to take part in their daily parade (which I didn't even know took place) - this meant I got to ride in four vintage cars - including my dream car at the time, an 1939 Auburn Speedster - the epitome of glamour and a car that was previously used by Mae West.

I've never really been a Birthday person, but that was pretty stand-out.

Aside from that, a surprise cake baked by my former partner was next best. It's the personal touches that make the difference sometimes!
