time traveling story

Hey there. I'm looking for an old story series. I don't remember the name or who wrote it. What I do remember is that the lead character is female who works for some sort of agency (run by some sort of super computer), and what happens is she goes back in time to several points in history trying to find something out. When you travel, you take somebody else's body. I also remember that the series had f/m, f/f, and m/f. One of the scenes I remember most, is that a accused witch is captured in Rome, and apparently all of the soldiers take turns tickling her. However, she is given something by another time traveler (who I believe the main char is trying to find) where when she is tickled, she passes on her ticklishness to the soldiers, or something like that, which creates a epidemic to altar the world.

At any rate, if anybody remembers this story, give me a shout please.

I'm ... pretty sure I wrote that. It was part of a series that I don't think I ever actually finished, and which is still sitting around on my hard drive. In any case, it was so long ago that the stories still include my CompuServe email for contact purposes.

Yes, it was never finished. And it was definitely a long time ago. Do you think they would be on the forum here somewhere?

And on a completely unrelated note, I've been meaning to ask you this question for a while, but the series you wrote, it was something like "Tales from The Golden Feather" or something like that, was it based on the Canterbury Tales?

Sorry for the delay in responding. No, as far as I know, the series was never posted anywhere other than (instantly dating myself) Usenet.

And yes, "Tales from the Golden Feather" was inspired partly by The Canterbury Tales, as well as The Decameron.

The TMF does it again!!!! Rosencrantz, bravo! two seconds after glancing at it, i realized i had read this, way back when. Instant time warp for ME, much less the story itself.

Look at that, somebody posts a request from over a year ago....and a conscientious member recalled the request, found the thread, and took the time to migrate over the links. Give that man a medal.

Shem! Great work! Going to read it now! You should repost it in the Story section, with a new 25th Year Anniversary prologue, lol (or however long ago it was).

Looking forward to rereading it.
