TICKLING PIONEER IN DIRE NEED OF HELP. HEALTH AND LEGAL RAMIFICATIONS....

I had just learned that Mike Reynolds, the founder of two pioneering M/M tickling websites, "Ticklish Asians" and "Male Feet and Tickling", has been arrested and taken into custody in The Philippines for overstaying on his visa ( for which the country had previously taken a much more lenient stance). The country's president Duarte, who had called for the executions of drug addicts, has decided to take an extremely hardline stance with this.

Mike had previously had strokes and takes medication for life-threatening seizures. The deplorable prison conditions not only include having to sleep on the floor while large rats crawl over him, but no access to medications that would help keep him from asphyxiating from the seizures. He's attempting to deport himself to save his life, but is finding it a slow grueling process. His lover of 14 years, Ricky, and his stateside US friends and colleagues are asking for donations to help get him the medications he needs and to speed the legal process getting him released. BTW, Mike and Ricky cannot get married in The Philippines as the country does not recognize same-sex relationships.

After some success with Ticklish Asians, he's moved on the diligent work opening the website "Male Feet and Tickling." The latter site has become an important supporting site for men of all sexual orientations to share their desires and loves of male feet and tickling without fear of harassment and ridicule.

Not trying to victim-blame here, but what in the fuck was he still doing living there? If a psychotic madman has taken over your country and is actively controlling death squads that murder thousands of the people on the street without due process, why wouldn't you move back to the States (sorry, but nobody named Mike Reynolds originates anywhere else) while you have the chance? I'm just saying, even the first time around in Germany, people got the idea that "I need to GTFO while I can!"

When did expecting people to take personal responsibility for the situations in which they find themselves become "victim blaming"? I thought that was just called "adulthood."

Technically, I was wondering out loud with incredulity at why he decided to stay when he literally watched a textbook dystopia descend on his adopted homeland with plenty of warning.

My question never ruled out a good explanation, but rather kind of hoped that there was one.

This is the latest from Mike Reynolds on his situation:

"Currently, the US Embassy is finally stepping in to encourage the Bureau of Immigration and National Bureau of Investigation to expedite my case due to my medical condition. I must get a doctor's certification that I'm fit to fly. It is likely I will need an escort because I have seizures. That escort can be a friend or family member. If there is anyone who is willing to fly to the Philippines to be my in-flight escort back to the US, at their own expense, please contact Boots McGraw through private message.

I ask that you please continue with your generous support. I have enough medicine now to last me another month. We are also using your donations for processing fees and Ricky's flights from Cebu to Manila and back as he works on my behalf. We will use your donations for expenses for re-establishing myself back in the US, shipping my computer and other personal items to me, and expenses for Ricky's fiancé visa; he will meet me in the US and we will marry.

One added note: Please refrain from any speculation as to how and why Reynolds got in this situation. I've been casually following his sites for years and even I don't know much about his life. I did not know he suffered minor strokes, nor that he goes through seizures until I heard about the pleas I first posted. (His partnership with Ricky, I did know about). "How and why" are not important. The important thing is that without help, he could die. I would be the worst firefighter on Earth if I spent time trying to figure out how someone got into a burning building and not working to get that person out.

Good, I'm glad the government is working to get him out of that shithole.

I hope he'll be okay.

News from Mike as of yesterday:

"Good news! My NBI clearance has been expidited and pushed through thanks to my partner Ricky's persistent calls and action. We can now move forward with the self deportation, the final step in this process. Hopfully i will be on a plane back to USA in 2 or 3 weeks."

He should marry that man and never let him go.

"More good news; Bureau of Immigration has cleared me for deportation. An Embassy official will visit me today to initiate my travel docs. I could be on a plane back to USA in a week or two. But staying prepared for typical delays which this country is very notorious for."

"A wonderful Canadian man here known as Bojangles offers me his private bunk to take afternoon naps and have my seizures in. My sleeping space is outside on a thin single wide foam mattress on the ground which another American shares with me. Not fun having seizures out where everyone gawks at me."


Updates are sporadic, because the guards at the detention center regularly confiscate the phones of the detainees --- just because they can --- and keep them for days at a time.

Mike's spirits are lifted because of your generosity and support. Thank you to everyone who has helped and will continue to help as Mike makes the transition back into American life. Site owner Mike's ordeal is not over. Here is his latest correspondence:

"This country has a way of building up hopes, and when you're at the highest moment, they pull the rug out from under you and crush your dreams. Then laughs at you. Just moments before I was to see the in house doctor for my fit to fly certification, which would the complete all docs, and buy my plane ticket, they tell me I need to see a specialist. This requires me to pay the equivalent of $100 for security escort to take me out to specialist, as well as the doctor's fee. It also requires signatures from commissioner and warden, who only show up now and then. I was ready to book a flight for this Thursday. Now it could be weeks before these stupid fucks coordinate this final process. I'm mentally checking out."

He still needs our help. I have kicked in the $100 for the "surprise" examination. I urge everyone to dig down deep in their wallets and continue to help in the fight to free Mike from that hellhole of a detention center (read: prison) that he is in.

"So I finally got my medical outing approved. I was taken in handcuffs to a public hospital to get my medical certificate to fly. When we arrived, there was no specialist to see me as per the schedule. Complete incompetence and stupidity. Now I'm stuck here another week until we try again this Wednesday. What can go wrong WILL go wrong in the Philippines."

I'm loathe to jinx whatever good news is being reported by Mike Reynolds. However, as of yesterday, it really looks like things are on their way. He is flying to the United States on Friday and will be living in Carson City, NV. As posted on MaleFeetandTickling, his departure is bittersweet, as he's leaving numerous friends behind, but his life and health have to come first. The prison he was in was an absolutely hellhole. If you saw pics of it, you would thank your stars you weren't there.
