I went to see an exhibit in Atlantic City called "Torture Through the Ages." There were stocks there, with a description describing the uses of the stocks and in the paragraph read, "Incessant tickling of the soles of the feet and flanks was used as a [I forget the descriptor] torture."
"Flanks" of course are the sides (armpits to the hips).
I was hoping there would be a demonstration, but alas, there was not.
So I guess they really did use tickle torture back then. I've read about it in fictional tickling stories, but of course it is nice to get documented proof.
In one of the tickling stories I've read, it was mentioned that women who were caught by their enemies would have their feet tickled by the female captors. It may have been Polynesian or Japanese islanders. Does anyone know if this is true?
The depiction of a beautiful naked woman in some medieval dungeon having the soles of her feet tickled while locked in the stocks has long been my favorite fantasy. This subject has been discussed here before and somewhat debunked, to a certain degree, but I still prefer to believe it happened. Just because it is not documented that the rape of female prisoners took place during the Spanish Inquisition, does not mean it did not happen. So, too, the use of incessant foot (or other) tickling as a means of torture. If only someone would do a quality tickling vid with this scenario. I know realtickling/femfeet has "Dungeon of Happiness" (as well as D of Reversal and D of Sensations) but although the tickling is great and the dungeon itself is adequate, it still looks as though the equipment was just made from stuff from the local Home Depot. Plus the victims aren't naked. Nothing exhibits helplessness and vunerabality like a naked female in the stocks with her soles offered up for tickling. If only some tickling vid producer could rent some movie quality dungeon set and equipment..., but I'm sure it would be cost prohibitive. But if and when a tickling vid does get made that looks like it takes place in a real dungeon instead of a mock-up in somebody's basement or family room, you can bet your a**, I'm buying it.
Kujman's the resident expert here. I only know a bit about it, that it was used for torment in several cultures, etc., but he's the one with the detailed memory of such. If you're fortunate, he'll drop in, as he IS one of the mods, and does post here.
Well, the Dungeons in Dungeon of Happiness, Dungeon of Sensations and Dungeon or Reversal look like they're somebody's basement because that's the way they're supposed to look. All 3 dungeon tickling videos take place in the basement of Kristin, a woman who captures sexy and ticklish girls and tickles them nightly.
set bad, not equipment
I'd just like to add my 2 cents on this matter, as my name might suggest tickle torture is one of my favorite things. So whenever dungeon tickling is brought up I'm all ears. Now I won't disagree that the dungeon video's made by realtickling look like someone's basement, I'd like to disagree with the comment "the equipment looks like stuff from the local home depot", I've viewed them, (Dungeon of Happiness is without a doubt the best) and I have to say I saw nothing wrong with the equipment. They restrained the victim perfectly, they looked rather confortable for the victim as well, given that the victim is immobile, these are two things which would not have happened in medieval times, considering when dungeon equipment was made comfort was not an issue they often thought about. So if the equipment doesn't look like it's from medieval times is because it simply isn't, the equipment was made to better suit the victim, so it's kinda like a year 2000 model stock table I guess. The only thing I thought that made this set look cheesy is the wall with bricks painted on it in the back. Obviously they weren't in some deep dark dungeon that was made of stone and this was a pretty poor attempt to do that. Also the candles which were meant to light this deep dark dungeon did nothing because proper electrical lighting was already in this basement. But all things considered the tickling in this video was great so I'm not gonna complain as long as it's good.
And that's the bottom line, cause Tickle Torturer said so!
I agree that nothing beats a woman being buck-ass naked and mercilessly tickled in a true dungeon. The RT folks do a great job but ever reaching that level would be hard to copy...plus they'd need to capture a girl who didn't want to be tickled which would be a crime....unfortunately!!! I find it hard to believe that during the Inquisition, tickle torment wasn't a regular occurrence in some of the European dungeons and I also believe I have read/heard that the Asians punished their concubines for disobedience through hours of tickle torture to avoid marking their bodies (e.g. whipping).
I saw that exhibit at the Tropicana Casino and that got my interest flowing as well...although uncivilized as it was back then the tickling was definitely no holds barred!! Oh well..we can still dream....
I can see why
Well, it makes sense why the Chinese would subject their concubines to hours of tickle torture as punishment so the concubines wouldn't get their skin damaged. Concubine is Chinese for some kind of lover. Would you want to damage your lover's skin?
Yes, this subject has been discussed here many times... in flame-ridden Newsgroups even more... and going way back pre-internet as far as I can recall (1975 or so?) and "debunked", mostly for the purpose of those who wanted the straight story instead of tickler's folklore.
In fact, I usually post a note before hand telling people that if they wish their historical fantasies to remain intact, NOT to read further. And as always, it's up to the individual to believe or fantasize as he, she, or it wishes to. After all, at our theme events, demos, and Inquisition parties,, we create a world of original bondage devices, s/m, and tickling that never really existed in history and bring it to full blown life- so why shouldn't others?
As to whether it actually was used as a specific torture (as in "I sentence thee to TICKLING!" type stuff)- really only the Chinese in the 6th Dynasty have ever listed it as a "specific" torture historically. And to a lesser, and more evil, degree- France in the 1600's. But we've been over all those historical facts many, many times.
Did tickling happen on occasion? Hell yeah- no doubt there were just as many foot fetishers or tickle fetish freaks back then and I'm sure some of them were in positions of power to get what they wanted.
However, as to other accounts in acclaimed books- let me tell you that most rely on hear-say, sad to say... even college professors do at times... places like Medieval Times has a photo of stocks and incorrectly lists tickling as a torture... and as Jen pointed out, even a traveling torture display had that too... the list goes on and on... BUT just because some people "believe" it to have been used as a torture (w/o any proof), does not make it so. People also believed the world was flat at one time.
I've come across books that incorrectly list it as a torture, and when you research THEIR material and their resources- you find NO mention of tickling. Folklore doesn't count- whether it's Russian or American. Along the way, someone slips it in for filler because "it sounds right", or "it sounds like it should have been a torture" as I was told by one author. Or maybe there's person there who is into it?
The bottom line is this: history is over. Worry about what tomorrow's history will bring you personally... and make your scene or fantasy whatever YOU wish it to be. It's your world.
And if you folks are having a hard time doing that- then come to one of our (Ticklegal and myself) events here in CA and we'll help you along
Thanks for your input Kuj. I know you have covered the subject before because it was one of your earlier posts I was referring to when I mentioned the use of tickle torture as being "somewhat debunked". I also admire your patience in continuing to address the subject. In the future, I will view my tickle fantasy in the context of it being the "preliminary event". There's the beautiful naked woman in stocks being subjected to having her feet tickled as the torturer-master is killing time while the coals heat up the irons and the rack is greased by an assistant. But since I prefer screams of laughter to screams of pain, I'll suspend what really happened in those olden tymes in lieu of my own (and I'm sure other's)perception of that scenario.
Regarding your tickling events in CA, how about some more details of where and when and what are they like? Although I live in VA and am a continent away, we do have planes headed that way and anything is possible.
Also, I love your ticklepalace site. I will continue to check in on a regular basis for updates and the openings of new chambers and hallways.
This is a very intriguing thread! I'm very glad it was started. Kujman, I for one, would love to hear more about your events. I realize you're an infinitely busy man, but if you ever get the urge to kill some precious time and write about your expos, I would really appreciate it! This subject fascinates me!
I hope my Hubby can build some stocks for us soon
Dungeon in videos
The dungeon in the RT videos is in fact a BDSM facility located in West L.A. I have personally been to this dungeon and used the table with the foot stocks, it works very well for serious foot tickling!
My last encounter in this room involved Sybil, (pinupbabe.com) and it was very enjoyable. A more ticklish lass would be hard to find.
BTW, I am not connected with this club in any way.
REp89, would you mind telling me what BDSM means? If it means something "naughty," then e-mail me and tell me, ok? My e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org
It's an acronycm for:
Those are what's involved (plus the necessary Submission for the Domination and Bondage, sometimes assumed to be part of the Masochism). Interestingly, more things creep into the culture all the time. Fire play is common now, though not particularly painful, traditionally speaking.
'Cause you asked,
Bondage and Discipline/SadoMasachism
Discipline: Reward, punishment and sometimes strict training
Sadism: Originates from the name Sade as in Marquis de Sade. He attained sexual pleausure from causing physical pain in others.
Masochism: Originates from the sur-name Masoch. Masoch attained sexual gratification through receiving pain.
Hence the expression S&M. Most times bondage is involved and punishment is given so the leather community sometimes refers to this as BDSM so that it encompasses all tastes under the "unbrella" term.
Hope this helped.
Discipline? Excellent. I'd only heard it the other way, with Domination, and it always seemed half-sided that way (one needs Submission, after all).
I'm thus of a mind to prefer your answer.
