Came across this scientific paper in which researchers tickled the feet of participants with their fingers, while conditioning them with a "koochie koochie". Thought it was pretty funny and kind of adorable :)

My favorite quote from the paper:
"some subjects (e.g., Susie) may have been "too" ticklish, responding with squirming and laughter as an
over-all sensitization rather than a conditioned response"

That's a really fun and interesting find!

It is so much fun to see something so sexual being described in clinical, matter-of-fact terms.

Wouldn't such researching be a dream job for any of us?

EDIT: Yay! This post made me 3rd level Yellow :xpulcy:

How does one get this job?
Congrats on your level up!

My suggestion would be: "study science and do not be afraid to reply 'tickling' when your thesis supervisor asks you what your field of research will be".

Thanks for your kind words~

Damn, I got my Ph.D in molecular biology. Should have thought to get it in tickling instead lol! Cool find:)

Surely you could form a team with other specialists and be in charge of a research in tickling? My PhD is in International Relations, I have even less credentials than you to tickle torture... erm, I mean experiment on (un)willing subjects :p

Interesting find! Just skimmed it but will read it fully. I'd volunteer for that experiment!

I wish there was more of this kind of research available! :p

There are others- I haven't done an exhaustive search, but here are a few. The top two links are from Christine Harris, who TMFers will recognize, as she's probably the tickle researcher who has achieved the most publicity, including TV segments.

Yes, I remember owning an article about Harris -- that article was one of my favorites to read as a child lol

So to sum up, if we say insert the silly tickling words in your language they are more ticklish ?

I've noticed that jokes and words help to break the psychological barrer

From the 4 college students they tickled, they found that they were able to get a Pavlovian response from just saying "koochie koochie".
