Robyn Hitchcock put out a sublime, gorgeous solo acoustic version of Roxy Music's "More Than This", which was released as a b-side. This was recorded live in Los Angeles in the summer of 1988; I saw him a few days earlier, at Maxwell's, in Hoboken, a fantastic show. At that show he did another song off of the same Roxy Music album ("Avalon"), "The Main Thing"....obviously Bryan Ferry was on the brain that tour! At the same show he did Syd Barrett's "Dark Globe", a super obscure song from "The Basement Tapes" "Tiny Montgomery", and as an encore he did "A Day In The Life", playing the opening and closing verses on the acoustic, but running to the piano to do the middle part. Great show!
