I had trouble trying to describe this in the thread title but I wanted to get thoughts about the appeal of tickling in an environment or scenario that doesn't necessarily involve it.
Like for me it's always more appealing when those around aren't expecting tickling to be involved, like in the case of a BDSM themed party or a renfaire, and I always find my fantasies involving these scenarios are much more interesting that way.
Anyway I thought it might be an interesting discussion to have and would love to hear your guys take or any thoughts/opinions you all might have about it.

So, two events come to mind with this... Halloween party at Burg Frankenstein in Germany, and Wacken Open Air music festival also in Germany... They have functioning torture racks that they will "torture" guests on. The ones at Burg Frankenstein will pull a female from the crowd, strap her to a stretch rack, expose her tummy and feet and begin tickling her.

This is my favourite type of scene involving tickling. It's a bit of a problem for some of us though as the content has always been very gender biased against men being tickled.

Im usually a Ler, but i wouldnt mind being tied up, exposed, and tickled in front of people onlooking...the embarrassment might make it more exciting...

Ya agreed, and knowing those people don't tend to think about the subject as much as someone in this community might, and therefore it stands out to them more

I would be amazing to have more events in the states that incorporate tickling/torture into their setup.

Yeah, well there are also BDSM themed events and even parties that might be more likely to do something like that

hmmm... might have to look into that...

For myself, a lot of it boils down to the consent of the person being tickled regardless of the event. If someone isn't cool with what's going on they should be respected. I feel like at a lot of events, such as the popular renfaire scenario, people agree under social pressure and may not be fully aware of what's going to happen.

I agree.

I agree!!! As someone that was once tickled at a "haunted house" these scenarios are very exciting

Maybe this is a stretch, but as a corollary of this thread's main idea, I find tickling in comics that are marketed to a mainstream audience to be far more of a turn-on than tickling in fetish comics (not to disrespect the awesome people at MTJ Pub). It just feels more audacious and exciting in a mainstream setting.

In my experience some people tend to be more ticklish when they aren't ready for it then those who know what is coming.

This is why BDSM/fetish friendly escorts, and foot parties are so popular. Consent is key, and IMHO it's not worth the risk to tickle someone without their permission.

That's all super true, but I feel like you also need to make sure the other person is okay with that. I feel like everything in this area is about trust and consent, even if it doesn't appear like that. I've been into BDSM for a while now and I think it took me a while to understand the proper way to do it, but it's worth it. One of my biggest passion is going on the anoeses shop and ordering different harnesses. It's just like other people are obsessed with ordering shoes, just a lot more fun.

In the past, I attended foot parties for the “sole” purpose (pun intended) of doing a little tickling. I always eased into it and always made sure it was ok to continue after sneaking in a few tickles. Had a very good success rate. I think being polite and complimentary to the person being tickled increased the success.

I don’t know about tickling specifically, but where I live, the renfaires often have booths run by BDSM folks “under the radar” who sell their leather wares to the curious, the amused, & other under the radio BDSM folks at what is for the most part a vanilla event. There’s definitely a renfaire/fetish crossover at these events that isn’t apparent to the casual eye, but to those more in-the-know can tell what’s up. Folks who show up as guests or vendors at BDSM conventions or private parties can at times also be the folks who sell at, or just visit, the renfaires.
