I'm guessing most of the Mid Atlantic -North East got these sometime tonight.
As those who live in the North East/-Mid Atlantic know, the weather has been unbearably hot the last several days. Temps in the 90s, and oppressive humidity.
Tonight, around 630 , the sky got pitch black. After that, for about an hour, huge streaks of lightning were flashing, and rain came in torrents. It lasted about an hour.
We used to get storms like this with regularity when I lived in Lancaster, PA for many years. I have not seen storms like we had tonight, in a long, long time.
The unfortunate thing. these storms are going to do little else other than maybe lower the humidity for a couple of days.
Over the weekend, they are forecasting more days in the mid 90s, and likely more storms.
As those who have read my posts are aware , I have often bitched and complained about freezing cold weather and snow in my posts.
Honestly, with as oppressive as it has been the last several days, I think I would rather have a string of days in the 20s , as opposed to the heat the last several days.
This is one of the hottest summers I can recall , at least since I moved back to NY in 2012
