Hi,

I would be interested in a video game based on the tickle assassins story series by TamiraK (can be found here on the TMF in the story section).
However, unfortunately I do not know anything about video game development.
I would have imagined it as a 3D game combining stealth, role playing and action elements. The initial scope of the project would of course be rather small, since realistically speaking the target audience for such a game is probably minuscule.
Depending on how much the costs of such a project would be, the financing would probably be done by crowdfunding.

Are there any game developers/programmers on here who would be interested in such a project ? Alternatively, do you know any platforms where one could recruit freelance game developers ?

As far as I am concerned, I do not have any real financial interest in this project. So in the unlikely event that this would be financially successful in addition to the payment for the initial development costs, you could also keep the majority of the sales income, whereas I would keep only a small share (exact details open to discussion).

So in the event that anybody would be interested to participate in such a project or has any helpful information please feel free to reply or send me a PM.

Hi, former professional game developer with over ten years in the industry here.

When it comes to game development, you get what you pay for. For a 3D game, bare minimum, you're looking at an artist, animator, and programmer. The programmer will cost you six figures easily, if you want one who's capable of doing the entire project himself. The artist, most likely, will go a bit above half that, and I don't know the going rate for animators these days.

If they will be working part time, you're looking at possibly several years of development. Full-time, a year or two, minimum. Then, unless you expect the programmer to write his own engine (which he will not want to do, unless you either double his salary or bring on at least one more gameplay programmer), you'll be licensing Unity or Unreal (unless you go with Godot, but I'm not entirely sure it's up to the task yet. I could be wrong. If so, hey; bonus)

I can pretty much guarantee the game won't be financially successful for two reasons; one, as you've already stated it's super niche and tickle fetishists don't like to pay $5 for a video so you definitely aren't getting however much you plan to charge for the game, and two; the indie market is beyond saturated and nobody is making any money unless they're the next Stardew Valley.

So you'll be attempting to raise like half a mil and looking at a two year dev cycle for a game for a community that doesn't pay for anything. That's not even touching on sound and music.

tl;dr - game development is not quick, cheap, or profitable. That's not to say you shouldn't try to do this, but recognize that this is what you have ahead of you and that you get what you pay for. The odds of you getting anyone with the chops to see a project like this through to the end will not donate their time.

Nearly every tickling video game I've seen was hacked together with public domain placeholder art in a construction kit of some kind (usually RPGmaker) because the amount of work required to do anything beyond that is astronomical.

Yeah, I have to say, as the idea for a tickling focused game won't likely generate much in the way of revenue, I wouldn't expect much in the way of backers. Now, don't get me wrong. People can still make games using RPG maker, or Twine, and I would heavily suggest those who are interested explore such avenues, but I fear it's going to be a while before anybody seriously makes a real tickling game.

Interesting out of the box idea and will be curious to see if this gets any traction.

However, I would not be interested - it's one of those things that is best experienced in person, not virtually.

Thank you very much for the feedback so far.
The suggested half a million USD would of course be impossible to crowdfund. The maximum development cost I would have hoped for would have been about perhaps 50000 USD or so; and even that is probably very ambitious to crowdfund.
Is there some sort of estimate as to what the development of one hour of “standard“ 3D unity based action RPG gameplay costs ?
Is there any website or platform where one could hire freelance game developers ?
Thank you very much in advance for any advice.

Hello, you're doing good work with designing the WWTBAM area. Your design looks realistic and fresh, and I really would like to play in this area or even play a millionaire game event with you guys. Right now, I'm playing at top Minecraft servers with my friends with different designs and mod packs. You can find a wide range of the best Minecraft servers at minecraft.buzz site. If you are looking for a decent server or for a specific mod pack, you can surely go for this source.

Hello,

I have only just seen this and I presume you are the same chap who messaged me privately about this.

While I don't see it as something that could realistically get off-the-ground for the reasons already mentioned, if you were to make steps towards developing any kind of game literally based on my Tickle Assassin saga, then something else you would need to consider is royalties – if you went ahead in developing anything based on somebody else's work without the official agreements, it could leave you open to expensive legal bills down the road!

It's a pretty specific idea for game development. The only way that can pave any kind of success, any kind of attention to the game, is the way to develop it solo or with some friend who also believes in the idea. Finding an investor at the beginning of an indie project seems impossible. In principle, attracting investors is a separate work done by special people. You, as a beginner, shouldn't hope for it. Yes, there are cases where beginners were helped by big investors, but this is a casino. If I were you, I would try to create a game with the simplest. At a minimum, I would do experiments on minecraft survival servers. For example, you can create a mini-game directly on the server

I think your idea sounds super cool! Unfortunately, I'm not a game developer, but I hope you find someone interested in bringing your vision to life. Have you considered reaching out to indie game development forums or platforms like Upwork or Freelancer to find freelancers? Good luck with your project!

By the way, I'm more into gambling. If you wanna try it, check out this article about how to win real money online instantly cash app before starting. It's a fun way to add some excitement to your day and helps you earn extra money!

While it wouldn't be a graphics based video game, something more akin to an old school text adventure, AI Dungeon is a program that has evolved to the point where I have had success in making tickle themed text games. You can create your own world using a notation system which the AI analyzes and then it gives you a scenario to play through.
