who has already watched the musical (Annette) as far as I understand there is a scene where Adam Driver tickles the feet of Marion Cotillard if someone has seen it, can you say whether this scene is worthy or not worth paying attention to?

I just learned about this movie today, and now I'm even more interested in it. Thanks for the heads-up!

I looked it up and it will be streaming on Amazon Prime starting August 20. Can't say the plot interests me but if the movie features the gorgeous Marion Cotillard getting her feet tickled then I'm sure it'll be worth at least a watch.

On a movie review site it said it features "intense tickling"!

vogue.com/article/annette-film

The quote:

"There’s singing graphic sex. And intense tickling and people using the toilet while singing. “If you’re going to make a film in songs, you have to show all these more or less taboo things,” Carax said in the press notes. “People fucking and doing those other things you never see in musicals for some reason.”"

Found few more mentions of tickling in the revews:

"Ann constantly taking a single bite of apples (is Cotillard Eve? Is Driver Adam?), or Henry’s penchant for tickling Ann (a quasi-violent act meant to provoke laughter, just like his vocation)—are overly cute."

https://www.avclub.com/adam-driver-a...ugh-1847413017

"It’s all a bit clumsy and a bit cringe-worthy, as granted just a few quality moments as a couple, which they spend in the forest or tickling each other, the chemistry isn’t quite there."

https://cineuropa.org/en/newsdetail/407009/

"Considering the orgasm gap in movies, it is refreshing to know that Driver is normalizing female pleasure and kinks; Annette also reportedly includes scenes of sex and “sensual tickling.”"

https://www.wmagazine.com/culture/ad...skills-annette

"“Annette” frequently questions the very idea of laughter as a defense mechanism, right down to the most terrifying tickle attack ever put onscreen."

https://www.indiewire.com/2021/07/an...ax-1234648765/

Edit: As a cherry on top, Marion Cotillard herself used the term "sexual tickling" when describing the movie:

"Again, unlike other musical films, Cotillard said viewers will see things they don’t usually see in the genre, like “sexual tickling.”"

https://www.pedestrian.tv/entertainment/adam-driver-singing-while-eating-pussy-annette/

It would seem that there are several tickle scenes. This movie had my curiosity, but now it's got my attention.

Damn, this movie is shaping up to be new gold standard as far as mainstream tickling is concerned. Will be interesting to see if we get any interviews stating whether Cotillard's reactions are legit or not.

I'm going to try really hard not to get my hopes up too high, but damn.

Ok guyz ill reveal the details now. I havent watched the full movie as im not a big fan of musicals. But there is one good tickling scene at 29:12 , people who are interested in feet tickling will love it. One of the best feet tickling scenes ive seen in a movie (In upperbody nothing can beat cement garden) . The only complaint i have with that feet tickling scene is that it is edited, not a one shot scene . I didnt see any other tickling scene in the movie, but since i havent watched the full movie, i may have missed it.

Some more info about the tickling, including the director talking about it being both "sexual" and as an "uncivilized act'.

Note that I've avoided adding some pretty spoilery things from that article, even though it also mentions tickling. If you want to stay in the dark regarding the movie, do not read the interview with the director in full.

"Despite momentary friskiness in a scene featuring Driver’s cry of “tickling time” and which includes Henry and Ann in feats of cunnilingus and toe-tonguing during a song, “Annette” is marked by utter seriousness."

https://www.newcityfilm.com/2021/08...os-caraxs-annette-the-green-knights-dank-joy/

"Yes, tickling plays a big role in the film. It’s a sign of affection but there is also something dangerous and taboo about it. It’s an uncivilized act, in many ways.

Yes, childish and savage. There is the same morbidity, and obscenity, in singing and laughing. And sex. Tickling is sexual too. If you’re going to make a film in songs, you have to show all these more or less taboo things, people fucking and doing those other things you never see in musicals for some reason."

There are few more articles that mention tickling in a more sadistic manner, but they are full of spoilers.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I know that there is some pantomime tickling and a heavily plot-related one as well from the articles I've read. I'll be checking the movie tonight.

Although, yeah, it will be painful to me to sit through the musical. Not a fan as well.

I don’t know if this is going to sound overly hopeful but I genuinely believe that Annette could be our “anti-Tickled”. I feel like for several years after Tickled’s release the mainstream opinion towards tickle fetishes turned overtly negative (not that it was ever really positive) which to be fair made sense considering the subject matter of the documentary. But it did kind of suck for a bit to have ones sexuality seen as something inherently creepy and bad to many people. I definitely had several friends who know about my tickling fetish text me about Tickled asking me if I’d heard about it and how weird and messed up it was supposed to be. After awhile my eyes instinctively rolled to the back of my skull whenever someone brought it up. Enough time has passed though that people seem to have overall forgotten it as they would any other trendy documentary released 5 years prior. And now there’s Annette. A film that’s getting incredibly good reviews and majorly positive word of mouth as far as online reactions go. With enough people seeing this film I think it might change the way many view tickling specifically as a potential form of sexual foreplay in the same way 50 Shades of Grey boosted the popularity of BDSM in the mainstream. I don’t know about you guys but I’m definitely ready for tickling to be seen as a fun, sexy thing among the mainstream/vanilla crowd that we all know it to be.

From some of these articles mentioning a particularly sadistic and dark side of the character's penchant for tickling, I'm afraid that the opposite is more likely to be the outcome.

But I might be overly pessimistic in that regard. We'll see.

50 Shades did feature some light tickling if I'm not mistaken, so it did something positive in that regard too, which is appreciated despite what I think of these movies in generall.

The problem with that is, Annette isnt a movie based on tickling. Yes, it does have a good tickling scene, but tickling is a small part of Annette. Tickled, on the other hand, is a documentary entirely based on tickling. You know what could be "Anti-Tickled" ? There was a 2 part documentary a long time ago by yaqi, where the models who worked with him talked about their experiences. I have it downloaded, but i cant find the link anymore online. Unfortunately, it never became famous, so im not sure if many people saw it. Also yaqi was featured on mtv, nbc and howard stern . We need something like that in 2021.

Yaqi was a legend of his time. But unfortunately, he didnt get the recognition he deserved

With all due respect I'm not sure Yaqi was as beneficial as you feel. Note he made a point to, frequently, deny any sexual elements to what he did and once actually compared his fetish to "the compulsion people have to tickle small children to make them laugh". The man did some solid porn in his time, but I don't think he would have generated the kind of positive buzz for tickle fetish antics as you might think.

More to the point of the thread; the scene's hot.

Well believe or not, tickling isnt a turn on for everyone. someone did ask yaqi once "Does that turn you on?" and he said "Duh" . But yes, some people can have compulsion to tickle someone , adult or child , without any sexual element involved. Thats why we see parents tickling their kid , one male roommates tickling another (even when both are straight) , tickling between siblings etc . But the reason i admire yaqi is because he was the first one to take tickling mainstream. He was featured on mtv, nbc, dot comedy, howard stern etc , and nobody else has come even close to that yet.

The scene is indeed hot. I also dig her soles in it, and her walking barefoot and carrying her shoes in a scene shortly before. That said, this movie is bizarro.

This was actually really good. Possible the best tickling scene I’ve seen in a movie. It’s got the classic “Not my feet!”, seems genuine, and transitions from finger tickling to toe licking

No spoilers but, after seeing the movie, I doubt that it will drive positive associations with tickling in the general population. It might awaken some fetishes, and it might creep a lot of people out, but I think that's about it.

That said, though, let me be the first person on this forum to admit that I enjoyed the movie. If you like weird French art, check it out.

When @dharmamember77 forces you to watch this because “it’s a really good movie and it’s his birthday” and then awkwardly stares at you the whole time. Also. Adam Driver <3 . That is all.

There’s a scene where he mimes onstage (while speaking) about how he tickled his wife to death.

This part is actually rather old. Paul Margueritte, as Pierrot the clown, came up with this scene in 1881, from a few lines in the 1847 Théophile Gautier play “Posthumous Pierrot” where Pierrot does the same thing to his wife, Columbine (pantomimed but with no speech.)
