TMF Football Pool Players PLEASE READ!!

Hi guys, I wanted you all to see this.

I've been thinking a lot as the season draws to a close how impossible it's going to be to have clear-cut 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. There are so many that are so close and a ton with 1 win.

Here's what I'm afraid of: We wind up with three players with 5 wins two with 4 and four with 3. How do you rate that? If you go with the three at the top, how do you break that tie? What about ties for first and such? No can do. We have to have a fair placing.

So, here's what I've been tossing around for a few weeks. After the regular season, we'll have a playoff season just like in the NFL. The top players get in. I'm not 100% sure how I'll rate that yet...maybe those with 2 or more wins, or perhaps the top six or ten or something. Once the playoffs start, it'll move to a point-system. I was thinking one point for each total score picked correctly (all playoff games will have total score picks), two points for each game picked right and four for winning the week. We'll still have Quickies for points. At the end, it should be easy to have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner.

This is the only way I can see to figure this out. I'm probably going to go this route, but I do want your input. Many of you have been doing this for two years now and I want to hear what you think about it. There's still a few weeks before the end of the season, so we have a bit of time to discuss.

i always wondered what you would do in case of a tie. you would literally have to do tiebreakers like a playoff. or you could do something like have each particular person get selected a game, and based on that game, pick individual stats. for example, let's say Natural Tickler and Tommytkl. they both have 4 wins right now. let's have Natural Tickler gets chosen to follow the Dallas- New Orlenas game and Tommy gets the Detroit- Green Bay game. they each have a RB, Natural has Julius Jones and Tommy has Ahman Green. they each pick how many yards their respective RB will get in the game. whoever is closest, wins.

While that's a good idea, I don't want to really get committed to a fantasy-football type of thing at this point. I've been having a tough enough time keeping a step ahead of the Pool this year as my time has been limited during the holiday season. Also, it would be impossible to be fair in picking match-ups for certain players to follow. Someone could cry foul that another player was given an easy match-up or something, especially with two other Mods playing this year. I want to be completely fair and unbiased.

Again, I DO appreciate the input, and am open to any other comments.

I'm fine with what you suggested in your post, Dave. Selecting the top few for the playoffs and then reverting to a point system for those top players would probably be the most fair and clear cut way of handling this. That way you've covered your butt in terms of equality, everyone is given the same equal chances, and the possibility of hard feelings is removed (aside from poor losership..lol).

Gotta do whatcha gotta do, Dave. I'm sure we'll all agree on that and respect your decisions on handling this.
