Iam not going to discuss who wrote the post that caused me to think of this rule, but I have just thought of an idea that might really serve well in cracking down on all the rude posters, and troublemakers in the chat who seem to do little else but engage in attacks on forum, and in chat. That is, the old system which is employed in some jurisdictions. 3 strikes, and you're out, permanently.
Harsh? Maybe so, but it just seems to me that there are some people who come here for no other purpose than to pick fights, put down others, and cause trouble in chat. While they might not technically violate the "Golden Rule", it just seems to me that these people do little else than act disruptive, and chase people away.
My proposal of such would come with penalties along the way. On the first time a person intentionally attacks someone, they get one warning, which doesnt count toward their 3 strikes. After that, the second time they attack someone in chat, or on forum, give them a one week ban. Then, the third time, make it 30 days. Finally, after that, if they do so again, make the ban permanent. I believe that enforcement of said rules would make people think twice before acting like troublemakers in chat or on forum. Had I already received a warning, I sure as hell would watch my step, because I wouldnt want to be banned from here, even for a week. I believe this can help in curbing problems.
I will not say the name of the person who did this, but I saw another poster, who seemingly did nothing in their posts but attack people on a regular basis, and they are still here. A person like that should have been warned and received at least a temporary ban a long time ago. To my knowledge, their attacking posts have happened on a regular basis over time.
I dont know what Myriads or the admins think of this idea, but it is just a thought. It might serve to crack down on some of the attacks on forum and in chat. Just an idea.
